We are going to gave to get used to nights like last night lads. There is no point trying to digest the performance when any 2 of their starting 11 is worth more than all of ours and more of our transfer budget (yes that's probably hyperbole but you get the point) . We are competing in a league of maybe 6 teams and all we should judge us on, and sulk about when it goes wrong, are the games against those teams. Everton are one of them and we were better than them and beat them. No combination of players we have available or tactics would have got us a result last night but footballers rely on muscle memory so there is merit in playing "your way" even if it's a style that the best teams find it easier to break down than a low block.

We were never going to beat Arsenal, but I still believe we are playing too defensive. Playing 7 defenders against any team limits the service that your wingers and strikers will get. We must sign an attacking midfielder to put some type of fear in the opponent. Any good team that looks at 7 defenders will go on the all-out attack with no worry of conceding. Whoever starts at striker would only be a good outlet and not a threat.

Absolutely. We are going to have a few nights like this. Welcome back to the prem. A few players are now grasping how much they need to raise their game.
We need to beat the teams around us and hopefully these night doesn't hurt confidence too much.

You're right and wrong Aus, what is wrong with what is said above? Is it any different to what you have been saying. really?
The point of this season, because of PSR, is we try and remain in the league, i. e. to survive to strive to thrive. To ultimately get to a time when we can up our spending and be more optimistic, and build for better, e. g. Europe etc.
Ironically, when we played "our way, " we did cause Arsenal problems. We just didn't do for 90% of the game; we froze on the night, simple as. 4-0 down after 50 minutes is going to impact anyone's plans and "DNA". Like Mike Tyson said, everyone had a plan until I punched them in the face!
We did ok for 30 minutes, could easily have been in the lead, without playing very well. No one really thought we would win last night. Even the most optimistic of us here hoped for a tight result at best.
In all honesty, the biggest disappointment for me last night, was the nature of the goals, our keeper [who seems well off the pace] and for the first time for a long time, we seem to be feeling sorry for ourselves.
re the keeper; I think both Darlow and Mes would have saved the 2nd and 3rd goals. The 1st and 4th was just unlucky, and well the penalty [which was assured to occur] was, well just that.

On your basis, City are out of the title race after one defeat.
We are likely to lose more than half our games this season, we don’t need folks losing it every time it happens.
You say, Farke should stop persevering with Gruev? Which imaginary player should he be playing instead? The one we might sign, but haven’t, Longstaff, who you said was out of his depth?

We lost 5-0 because we set up wrongly, lost the confidence of the team due to that set up then when the inevitable goals came, we didn't have the right players to regroup the morale.
Farke turned a loss into an embarassment. Anyone with sense said before the match 4-5-1 with the 1 taking long balls on break to scare them.
Piroe is no a PL player, he doesn't have the pace or awareness to push the attackers. Unironically Joseph and Bamford would have been better yesterday.
Starting 8 of our champo team against a massive team like arsenal is just daft.
