Back in October I asked if we'd maybe been a bit hasty in offloading some players on loan or permanent deals.
Given our current situation, 6 months later, curious to hear your thoughts.
Assuming Costa, Roberts and Boguz are mikes away from being up to the job.
Should we have kept Cresswell, Shacks, Klich etc?
Those three would all make us better imo.

Aside from their ability I think Klich, Creswell, Shacks, all gave heart and fight to us which we desperately lack at the moment.

Klich - no. he had a lot of heart but simply not good enough at this level - constantly chasing games and also looked like he struggled with the pace of the Prem. I think age more than anything else was to blame
Shacks - also not good enough and has not yet reached the required level. loan was a good move for him
Cresswell - lacking experience and development. Struijk has been ripped apart last few games and I feel the same would have happened to Cresswell. A loan to get regular 1st team experience was a sensible move
Drameh - would have kept and utilised instead of buying the woeful Rasmus. he can't be any worse surely and had regular experience with Cardiff so ready for more involvement imo
Dan James - would have been curious to see what he could do in his natural position, but do we really need a 5th left winger?
Heldje - as with Cresswell, expereince needed and a loan a great move
I don't believe in throwing youth in when they have only previously had U23 experience - it just doesn't work unless they are remarkable players and our youth might be good in time, but certainly not remarkable.

Yes Alf. Apart from Klich, who didn’t ever get the opportunity to be match fit under Marsch, it was more important for the young lads to get game time, and to get DJ off the books. There were two other near ridiculous decisions tho. Nearly allowing JH to leave, and entertaining permanent offers for Cressy.

Lorimer, Gray, Kelly, Speed, Batty, Smith, Kewell. etc all lacked 'experience ' but the Don, Wilko and Oleary played them all at very young ages. without any fear .
This current Leeds United regime board and coaches is utterly clueless.

Those players you mentioned all got the chance to play in a solid team with good pros around them though Baz. We have a woeful team full of terrible players who are mainly unsuited to the league. We did better with a team of mid-table championship players than the expensive dross Orta has assembled since.

In hindsight do we think it was wise to ship so many out on loan when we are now struggling so badly?
I'm not saying we'd be much better off but surely a couple from the following would add something to us?

Costa
Cresswell
Shacks
Roberts
Poveda
Boguez
Maybe the club was a little arrogant in thinking the summer business was sufficient that we could offload the above for the season.

Klichin i don't think we’ve got a big shortage of players, I just think the players we’ve got are lacking confidence and not being used to the best of their abilities. Captain Cooper might be talking up a big belief in JM but I would bet privately they might not be fully behind him. That doesn’t mean they’re not putting in a shift I just think that Marsch’s tactics or lack of is not working with our players. That also doesn’t mean that given time a precious thing which we don’t have, might work eventually.

Nice idea, but I think only Cresswell could offer us something more than what we currently have, and he’s stuck at Wall until January most sensible clubs would have had a minimum number of appearances linked to his, obviously we didn’t!

I don't think any of those players are ready and able to help out. Better off where they are gaining experience or on their way out.

If Cresswell continues to be left out of the squad at Wall he will most likely be recalled but only to go out on loan elsewhere. However, if he can't get into a Championship team regularly, why do you think he is ready for the premier league?

Not certain he will Alf but he did well against West Sham when he got his chance, but they only way to find out for certain is to give him a chance like we did with Struick and Messellier who never went out on loan but we’re both good enough to swim then thrive.
We need Struick in the middle for me, and Cresswell would be a major upgrade on Firpo. I believe.

I know it was only a sub appearance but Cresswell showed enough away to Wolves last season that he’s in our top two centre halves I’d say.
I’d argue that Ayling is one of our better Cb’s when he’s played there too.

Koch had a mare the other week, but has done well.
Coops has been injured, but adds leadership. Pasc should be playing CB, but is covering for the lack of investment in a quality LB. and Hjelde is injured.
Cressy not PL ready in my eyes.
Sell Llorente to the knackers yard for glue.
Invest in Cryo regeneration to bring back Dom Matteo in youth, and Lucas.

I’d like to see how he develops with Wober around.
A calm head, leader, good positional sense.
He’s highly thought of in the England set up so surely we hang onto him for another 6-12 months at least.

Maybe not the proven CF we all hoped for but the signing fits our model of buy cheap and young, nurture then sell on in a few years.
Backed into a corner by the chaos of yesterday, an Italian international isn’t a bad signing and preferably to Hwang or Diaz IMO.

Better coaching and I dare say man management will bring the best out of Rutter.
He looked lost previously, but now looks to be enjoying his football with confidence returning too.

You forget Baz that we have many “premier league” quality players out on loan who will reappear should we go up.
I’m sure the likes of Roca, Rasmus, Arronsen would be good enough to keep us up……. oh wait, didn’t work out well last time did it!

I’ve seen one of our young 'stars' park in the disabled bays at my local M&S. Makes my blood boil. Another case of rules not applying if you’re a footballer.
