Spanish press reporting on Orta departure from Leeds like it is a done deal - i blumin' well hope so

Street parties all round if it's true Alf.

17 Apr 2018 13:34:54
MacBurnie of Swansea reportedly on his way to Leeds in the summer. scored 8 times in 13 matches since Swansea loaned him out to Barnsley. It was Hecky that was instrumental in his signing on loan for Barnsley before he came to ER and one of the reasons for their upturn in form.

alftupper

1.) 17 Apr 2018 15:14:45
Well Alf i think the benchmark is is he better than what we have and its a resounding yes. And hopefully he does not pick up an injury before we sign him and spend half the season out. Also be good if we play him as a striker.

2.) 17 Apr 2018 15:23:09
Think he would be a great signing.

3.) 17 Apr 2018 15:32:49
Shows Heckaday isn't going anywhere then. 😢

4.) 17 Apr 2018 16:20:28
From what I've seen of him on the telly, I reckon he'll be a good addition.

5.) 17 Apr 2018 19:42:22
Barnsley have four more games so plenty of time for him to pick up the obligatory, injury. Unless we give a brown paper bag under the table and tell Swansea to wrap in cotton wool.

LUFC have started contract talks with Hernandez. Good move?

alftupper

1.) 22 Mar 2018 00:06:20
I just wish he was 26.

2.) 22 Mar 2018 07:19:19
If he was 26 he'd be on the brink of the spain team

3.) 22 Mar 2018 11:45:34
Lets hope if he signs its not the famous leeds utd new contract where you stop trying.

4.) 22 Mar 2018 22:56:38
Id sign him on a 2 yr. he will prob end up a bit part player next year but still worth having. At the end of next year sell him to a second division spanish team or div 1 here.

5.) 26 Mar 2018 13:33:50
Bet he does as well Grayson!

14 Mar 2018 13:01:12
Radz now talking about adopting a similar model to Wolves using his contacts with super agents. Loans of top upcoming talent with mandatory purchase if/when we get promoted. He is said to be seeking approval from someone (possibly the FA or FL) before going for it.

alftupper

1.) 14 Mar 2018 14:37:48
Yes please, works for wolves. But if his contacts are of the same quality to Orta then don't bother!

2.) 14 Mar 2018 15:42:34
Why do you need permission? Wolves did it and didn't get punished so what's the problem.

3.) 14 Mar 2018 17:25:47
Thier not Leeds. Leodis

4.) 14 Mar 2018 17:41:30
He isn't after permission as such, he just wants to make sure he doesn't break any rules of the FL, FA or PL

5.) 14 Mar 2018 18:05:04
Slaggs em off then copy em? Mmmmmm

6.) 15 Mar 2018 04:39:17
Absofrickingexactly Martyn! I've lost all respect for Radz. Sad thing is he's still our best owner in 14 years!

7.) 15 Mar 2018 09:55:40
Yeah. I got to be honest. He was better when he shut up and got on with business. He has now got orta and has made some naive decisions expecting it to be easy to get out this league. Now seems to slag everyone else off to detract from his own inadequacies. Losing faith.

8.) 16 Mar 2018 07:15:08
and how is he going to fund bringing in all these players? There's no way on earth he will be able to get rid of all our dross, they are all on long contracts, there agents will advise them to stay at leeds, hardly any will command a fee, which leaves us with sending them out on loan options (luke Murphy scenarios all through our squad) . I can see the club moving sideways at best next seaaon

12 Feb 2018 14:52:09
Bit disappointed with the game on Saturday but didn't really expect much from it tbh - we shot ourselves in the foot conceding so early and then it was always an uphill struggle. at least we kept 11 men on the pitch for once but it underlined the amount of work that still needs to be done to make us competitive in this league.

alftupper

1.) 13 Feb 2018 10:18:51
I think we would have been better off with 10 if O'Kane had decided just to sit on the side of the pitch instead of playing. He had a hand in both of their goals and offered nought going forward.

One of the biggest mistakes this season - not recalling Coyle from his loan after Ayling got an injury. We could have really done with his help.

alftupper

1.) 16 Apr 2018 14:49:22
Wasn't he on a season long loan? Biggest mistake was not putting in BPF in mid-January. Wiedwald probably cost us 10 points.

2.) 16 Apr 2018 18:34:20
Don't think we could recall him, could we, and probs best served staying where he was, so he can be in the mix, and confident next season.

13 Apr 2018 14:04:06
It says in Ed001's review of the day today that Man Utd have shelved plans to increase the capacity of Old Trafford as they will have to temporarily relocate like Spurs have done to Wembley this season. I would have thought if Man Utd played at Wembley for a season it would be a good move - much less distance for the majority of their support to travel.

alftupper

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that Torquay's ground is too small.}

1.) 13 Apr 2018 14:20:51
Superb Alf. Too true.

2.) 13 Apr 2018 15:24:00
I believe ER got a mention as well believe it or not.

3.) 13 Apr 2018 15:33:28
Alf Disagree. Wembley is in that London so it'd be a bad move for their "fans" and ultimately the club would lose revenue. Most of their supporters carry knives, swords and other weapons to home games so they'd end up getting arrested in the capital and their paraphernalia confiscated.

4.) 13 Apr 2018 15:56:22
Most follow the others george. Only 1% know where the ground is. The rest follow. We call them sheep ships in aus. Yukky things. But fitting travel for man users.

5.) 13 Apr 2018 22:40:12
Would be a brilliant idea for man united to play at ER . all them rich southerners lifting the local economy . not to mention that we could take the mick about them being homeless bums.

I think I realise what the 5 year plan is:
Year 1: but a load of youth players, don’t spend too much
Year 2: relegation, maybe blood a few of the better youngsters
Year 3: the majority of young players should be ready to step up to the 1st team in League 1, where they can blend into a unit and continue to improve while winning promotion back to the Championship
Year 4: back to back promotions with a great team who have now spent 4 years playing together, or just miss out on promotion
Year 5: back up year to get promoted if we miss out in year 4

alftupper

1.) 04 Apr 2018 08:50:26
alfupper nice try, if we go down in year 2 do you really see us getting promotion in year 3 ? Look where we are now and how LONG we’ve been here!

Not sure I'm keen on Hecky wearing an orangey red Leeds badge on his training gear. What's that about?

alftupper

1.) 29 Mar 2018 18:27:03
Reminds him of his roots alf

2.) 29 Mar 2018 21:51:18
The problem with written word on sites like this, is that it's sometimes hard to tell what is sarcasm, and what isn't. TC had the same badge, as do the other coaching staff, and it's in support for Toby Nye. The young lad who now seems to be in remission after his treatment for neuroblastoma. Hope he continues in his recovery. MOT FOR TOBY!

3.) 29 Mar 2018 23:36:32
Lets get mad Mick on board if current geezer don't work out, which is looking likely!

27 Mar 2018 13:52:00
A few on here saying we should get rid of Viera come the end of the season but his England call up surely shows he is a great talent for his age. We sometimes forget how young he is and that it takes time for players to mature.

alftupper

1.) 27 Mar 2018 14:00:03
I wouldn't sell, I'd loan to a lower Championship team. He still gives the ball away too much and needs to improve his game, but we need more experienced midfielders if we want promotion.

2.) 27 Mar 2018 14:24:35
He is young. He needs gametime. He needs to work on his mistakes. So, yes a loan away to a quality L1 team or even Championship is on the cards but he must be guaranteed an agreed amount of games.

3.) 27 Mar 2018 14:47:53
Personally think he'd be too good for league 1 and its an insult to his potential. Show me another player playing for england u20's that is in league 1.

4.) 27 Mar 2018 15:55:14
His age is the only reason I'd keep him his form as been poor like most players we have his passing as been atrocious I'd personally take him away from first team and give him game time else where whether that's on loan or under 23s.

5.) 27 Mar 2018 22:39:31
SG, on current form he is playing for a lower championship side now!

I think a few, including Saiz and Alioski, couldn't take the pace of the Championship and afetr a great start got tired and faded away fairly quickly - the majority of the squad was knackered by November.

gate revenues are a very small factor now in football club financing - the majority of money comes from elsewhere like TV deals. LUFC got a windfall of around £7m in revenue from TV last year - one of the biggest in the league but we choose to waste all our money on rubbish. I just go down the tip or the sewage works on a Saturday afternoon these days - there is less cr@p

thse lines aren't even staight if you look at the direction they go compared with the edge of the penalty box - its like my sawing with the penalty box line where i was supposed to cut and the yellow line where it generally ends up.

totally agree that Pep's season has been a failure - with the money spent the league should have been a formality but to fail in the Champs league and to be knocked out of the FA cup by Wigan is a bit of an embarrassing return for 500 million quid
