After listening to the Squareball psdcast with our man Angus giving us his analysis of what when wrong, a few things are clear .

Even though he's a 'football man', clearly he's just a business person, and not a very good on at that .

It was good to hear that Farke told them that he's the manager and will manage the football side of the business, were others were coaches and used what was given to them.

It also made some sense that MB was a hard act to follow, and that JM was completely the wrong person . and that MB told them without investment we would be found out and relegation was on the cards

It also made sense that the board were completely naive about everything, and that the takeover should have been done a year earlier.

So I'm expecting mid table this year, playoffs would be amazing and promotion would be pulling the rabbit out of the hat. But what ever happens, the 7x7er's will need to spend the cash next season as this team won't survive in the PL even in two years .

But then the RWG is on . mot.

A very difficult future scenario could arise:

IF Leeds United somehow managed to get promoted ( more likely via playoffs more feasible) then virtually all of this entire current team/ squad would need to replaced with far better quality players to even survive in EPL.

Essentially Leeds United would definitely need to do a " Forest " if promoted and buy around 15 to 18 new players and jettison / sell/ loan most of existing team/ squad!

You forget Baz that we have many “premier league” quality players out on loan who will reappear should we go up.
I’m sure the likes of Roca, Rasmus, Arronsen would be good enough to keep us up……. oh wait, didn’t work out well last time did it!

I’m happy to take a hit on all the spineless loan outs if we were to go up. Even if we don’t. Never let them near a Leeds shirt again.

The team we have now is, generally, an upgrade on last seaon and probably the only "loan out" I would welcome back would be Wober so I agree Buying will be required but not a mass influx.

Leo . we definitely aren't better up front!

would much prefer Rodrigoal, Jack and a FIT Sini .

. all 3 better than what we currently have.

we would score far more in Championship with these three players.

Sini was never consistently fit tho Baz. Rodders had to go due to his wages, and probs the same for Jack.
With Cree, Pov, Anthony, and even Joffy in a withdrawn position, there is potential creativity, as well as goals there, albeit hopefully, and reliant upon their development. None of the now gone players could help keep us up; maybe what we now have can develop to the players who can?

Baz I believe Florist bought 30 players last summer. In unlikely event of promotion, we'd need to spend minimum £300M to ensure survival. Promotion not going to happen this season though.

30 players George! That's some almighty turnaround; and it worked! They stayed up in EPL! Kudos to Forest's humongous hardworking recruitment team.

They will probably will stay up again this season too.

How so wrong were one or two on here who were predicting their relegation due to this recruitment strategy!

Again baz I have to say it is timing of the recruitment as well. As I have said before we were too late in our recruitment drive after a bad season and when the winning mentality had left.
I have seen teams who recruit a lot like forest did struggle but if they were going to do it that was the correct time. When the team was still on the up after promotion.
Our lot were to naive.
Naive my bottom!

W-B What you write again is nonsense. It's those marmalade shoes you refer to. A belated recruitment drive? When did that happen? Who was bought? Bielsa advised the whole team required refreshing so we bought Junior Firpo and Dan James. Insufficient quantity, insufficient quality. Wasn't about lateness because it didn't even happen. The following season we had a zero net spend. Late recruitment? Late investment? More like no investment.
