What a great piece of business, the purchasing of Sebastiaan Bornauw!

More leftsided centre-back options.
But, by all accounts, rightfooted!
Over 100 games in the Bundesliga.
A huge aerial threat.
A Belgium international.
Just coming in to his best years.
And a discount of €11m on his purchase price of just a few years ago!

Hopefully the €6m that we give Wolfsburg will help them purchase Sargent from Norwich and thwart Burnley's attempt to get him. I don't think Sargent is the best that Leeds can attract but I do think he would be an asset for Burnley.

And now I read that we may get another €3m from a sale of Charlie Cresswell!

So, in effect, we have sold an England U21 player and paid just €3m to attract a Belgium full international replacement.

I do like Cresswell, but good business is good business!

2.) 30 Jun 2025 17:54:35
There was a rumour on the Leeds rumours site that we are looking to bring Cresswell back to Elland Road, the sell on fee would be knocked off therefore we would get a better deal! Whether that’s click bait again who knows ?‍♂️?.

3.) 30 Jun 2025 19:22:53
Again well done 49ners and all involved.

4.) 30 Jun 2025 22:07:11
Axe I agree with everything you said. But there is a big but. The lads injury record is not good in e recent years. However in saying that with money paid for him he could turn out to be a very shrewd signing.
Hopefully at worst a good back up and maybe a bargain starter!

5.) 30 Jun 2025 22:55:02
Worth a shout at that price.

6.) 01 Jul 2025 09:21:08
Corker, you said you'd leave my Big Butt out of future posts!

Aside, agree with the injury issue, but I just hope he and Struik can stagger their injured moments so we get through the season with enough cover.

Wasn't it good to see Cresswell and Joseph trying to swap shirts at the end of the match yesterday!

A big thumbs up to Cresswell for a very resilient display, that sort of performance has always been I his locker. The year in France has improved his comfort on the ball but, before the usual suspects chip in, I don't see him as an improvement on Rondon so I don't believe he would have progressed as far at Thorp Arch.

And the £3.8m we earnt was well spent on Tanaka

Win Win.

Agree Axe! That he was a very capable player has never been in doubt. The question was always, for previous managers and Farke, was around the style of his play. Best of luck to him, but I still agree with Class that we have kept the better of the brothers.

2.) 22 Jun 2025 14:12:16
Exactly cressy good player but needed time on pitch and the money he has gone to tanaka

Plus sell on clause win win win.

3.) 22 Jun 2025 17:08:38
He Lacks pace for me not quick enough bloody great in both boxses attacking ball I always thought that.

4.) 22 Jun 2025 20:07:07
Agree with Wigan whites that he's good defending the high balls and as a presence in the opponents box but not quick and don't think his distribution and comfort in tight situations is particularly good. One who did impress last night and looked comfortable on the ball was Beadle. Only 20 but very calm and at 6'7" he's a big unit. Off to Brum for another season on loan. Think he'll end up as Brighton's number 1.Also liked Stanfield last night. Not the greatest striker but he makes up for some of his shortcomings by just being a bloody nuisance. I like frontmen who when they haven't got the ball work their socks off for the team and don't make life easy for defenders (and midfielders) .

5.) 23 Jun 2025 05:52:13
Whom are the usual suspects Pc Axe?

6.) 23 Jun 2025 08:43:43
I'll put my hands up guys - in like Cresswell.
His threat in the box is something we have lacked (admittedly less so since the arrival of Rodon) but for me the kid was never given a chance.
Thankfully though, I don't pick the team:) ) )
Glad to hear that others agree that his younger brother is even better - fingers crossed:)

Neither was Lukaku when he went to West Brom all those years ago

A Chelsea 5th line player would still be a good addition for us at this time. Ampadu wasn't a Chelsea regular but is doing very well for us.

Aus, you can't be calling Bright naive when his track record of accuracy and being informed is on a far greater level than yours so far.

Nobody has called you naive previously and they would have far greater grounds to do so.

I think we all respect your opinion as to the links to the two lads who have gone to Sunderland but without knowing as to Leeds' desire to buy them (and I know you don't have anymore idea about that than I do) it's just another uniformed post on here.

It wouldn't be the worst idea in the world

At this stage in our development we need to stay in the division and probably a 10 is a bit of a luxury. As would be a non-defending wide player.

Luxuries are for when we are established.
I enjoyed last season and we didn't have a 10 then either.

Please, please, please keep doing what you are doing. You are an inspiration to me, at least. I try to watch players and gain an insight in to their capabilities, but your level of detail is beyond anything I can achieve and I look forward to reading every single one of your posts (even the ones you berate me for my liking of Farke) . I know from my own efforts that Google doesn't provide the level of detail that you publish.

Thank you for all the time and effort that goes in to your posts/ articles.

CA, that has been the way for many many seasons. The big boys hit the trough first. The smaller ones feed after.
I have a couple of southern-softie mates living the good life here up north and they were saying that as soon as Leeds were promoted. The big boys decide on their European and Premiership squads and then offer out the ones they don't need for loans and permanent transfers. It has been there way with their beloved Hammers for a long while. Even during their European seasons they still don't get to eat first!

I have been presuming that that is why we have been buying up mainly from foreign teams, and the "Premier League ready" purchases are still to occur.
I guess Longstaff was on our radar last year as Newcastle knew he wasn't going to be in their squads.

Not to worry though. In my opinion, our team last season would have beaten all three relegated teams (even tho we sold over £100m of talent and they bought roughly £100m of talent from the previous promotion scrap) and since then we have added quality all over the park. All we have to do is stay up. I don't need a Brazilian wonderboy (Roque Jr anyone) I just want to stay up.

The last midfielder we got from Newcastle wasn't a bad buy, and kick started a decent era in Leeds history.

BTW. Hamer could be my new Tony Currie hero worship too.

I agree with most of the posters here, Meslier isn't 1st XI quality (although I would work hard to persuade him that he should still be part of the squad, and mention to him that there aren't many suitors out there) .
But I would like to see someone with a bit more Premiership experience than Cooper coming in as a first choice keeper. That idea just smacks of desperation as I doubt SU would have him as first choice if they had gone up.

Agreed with all the above Aus, (pick yourself up man I don't antagonise you on purpose) .
What's your thoughts on selling BA and possibly keeping either Greenwood or Gelhardt as cover for that role should the need arise (a goal down with 10 minutes to play, 3 8's aren't going to be the best way to get back in the game) .

Would love us to get that smack-me-in-the-face centre forward, but prefer not to be giving money to a near rival in doing so.
