I guess I might be the only one disappointed in the signings of Kamara and Gruev, hoped there might have been better options at a reasonable price.

Kamara - question, why was he excluded from the Rangers team for months, a team that was beaten easily by PSV; open to question as to what he can offer.

Gruev - done nothing of note, nothing to add here really.

You ain't Edge, more bang average players which will do very little for our cause imo

I do appreciate we can't attract high calibre but surely we could have done better than these

I said the same last year about all the " good signings" many on here told me we had made

So I don't hold out great hope that these players shall make much difference,

Kamaras stats at Ibrox are poor, this Gryev is same .

Hoping to be made sound silly though and these players turn out to be good.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 22:28:29
Edge - as per a previous comment, Kamara wanted to leave Rangers last summer, having become bored of playing in the Scottish Prem with so few challenging games, and was really keen to return to the English game, having previously been in Arsenal academy, with some lower league loans before moving up to Scotland. His game time was reduced last season as their manager preferred playing those who were absolutely committed to Rangers, and club and player agreed it was best if he move on this summer - so he’s not been involved fully in their preseason and it made no sense to play him and risk potential injury etc. Beale would most certainly have included him in the squad for last night’s game if he’d been likely to stay there this season, as he was previously one of their best players.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 22:30:58
Kamara was instrumental in their 2021 title winning team . I think him and Ampadu in the engine room
Will be fantastic.

4.) 31 Aug 2023 23:00:18
Kamala; instrumental in the Rangers champion side under Gerrard.
Gruev; if you know nowt, say nowt. He will fight you over a bag of scampi, I promise you that.

5.) 01 Sep 2023 05:49:32
Make no mistake Glen Kamara is a very decent player, I’m very happy we’ve managed to get him. As for Gruev yes he is an unknown but all players that arrive at a new club need some time to adapt, especially the ones from foreign leagues. It’s not very often you get players who hit the ground running.
If we can get Paintsil over the line today and keeping Willy, Sini and Cree then I think we’ll have done pretty well in this transfer window

We needed this overhaul the players we had were simply not good enough or their heart wasn’t in playing for the club.
But, obviously when a lot of players leave and new ones come in there is that time of adapting, we just have to hope that it’s not too long for some of these new players.
Definitely trust in Farke to get this done.

6.) 01 Sep 2023 08:35:37
May I add to my 1st post, I was referring to pair of mids we signed yesterday , a tad underwhelming and all seemingly similar in style

We need a creator desperately in middle.

7.) 01 Sep 2023 08:37:52
Think you forget what league we’re in mate.

8.) 01 Sep 2023 08:40:17
David Batty and Dacourts stats not exactly eye popping but they were decent enough no?

9.) 01 Sep 2023 09:30:15
LUFC4, I thought I made that point a tad clear in my 1st post ???.

I feel that I might be the only one on here who would be disappointed if Farke were to become manager.
Record shows promoted, relegated and sacked; in reality a poor record.
If he's appointed, we will probably offer a 3 year contract and end up looking to a new appointment in that period.
If we have a new broom with the 49ers, can we not look to bring in someone with a plan, that involves certain planned longevity within the club.
Bielsa had a plan and created something (although there were recognised failings) otherwise, why do supporters recognise what he brought to the club.
Just want to see a manager who is looking to rebuild the club, recognise the quality of the youngsters etc (or am I still living in the past i. e. Revie)

Edge

1.) 17 Jun 2023 21:35:09
Edge you are missing some context imo.
Farke achieved 14th in his first season followed by promotion, relegation, promotion, sacked.
Context wise take a look at the money side, he did this while making a profit of 40 million quid on player sales!
Likely dictated by the board his best/ most valuable players were sold so no surprise he achieved in effect a double relegation it would have been miraculous to stay up in all honesty, it's a wonder he achieved a double promotion.
With the right backing would he do better? We may find out.

2.) 17 Jun 2023 21:37:00
Edge - it seems a little harsh to judge Farke on the basis of his work at a Club with very little money whose Board at the time seemed to accept being a yo-yo club - getting the enjoyment the cycle of a promotion season with lots of great results followed by a cash injection from the Prem then a parachute payment then repeat the process.

It’s their failure to go back up this time which seems to have got them to realise it’s not necessarily a sustainable process, with so many other clubs getting wealthier owners, and that they really need to try (if at all possible) to get up and stay in the Prem for a while.

With proper backing, Farke could do far better with us - and he had a decent record of using youngsters from Norwich’s Academy, and clearly didn’t shy away from playing a young prospect ahead of a more established player at Monchengladbach - picking young American right back Joe Scally ahead of Austrian international Stefan Lanier. I would have thought he’d be likely to relish the opportunity to involve and improve our youngsters too.

His comments when facing us as Norwich manager suggested he really relished the atmosphere created by our fans. He’s worked at Borussia Dortmund with their reserve team, but doubtless attended many of the first team matches with the incredible Yellow Wall, which will likely have given him an appetite to manage a team with the same intensity of support - which Norwich will not have provided. He has the potential to thrive here.

3.) 17 Jun 2023 22:13:20
Who is your pick then Edge?

4.) 17 Jun 2023 23:24:29
Edge I see your point. Unfortunately the likes of Bielsa are nigh on impossible to attract in the championship.
And as the lads pointed out Farke literally had zero cash to work with at Norwich after promotions.
Personally although not my favourite target I’d take Farke as his teams are good to watch, has a great promotion record and maybe with a decent budget if promoted can be more successful.

5.) 18 Jun 2023 11:15:01
Is that your first post Edge? If so, welcome, if not, sorry I missed your others.
I totally see where you’re coming from too, but I think club ambition, or ability to put money to that ambition is key.
I would give him a 2yr contract, with a big promo bonus, and biff him on promotion. Then bring someone in with a view to standing by him thro thick or thin to deliver upon a longer term vision, and club development.

6.) 18 Jun 2023 13:23:09
Think Bright is right in that we don’t know if the 49er’s are going to invest seriously, not just with money but who they will consider will fit their post the best, that goes for players and staff etc. Attracting the right people to do the best job will be key.
Farke for me would be a good shout, but everything has to align with him to get things right this time. Not just for promotion but in the Premiership also.
I just hope the new owners know what they are doing?

McKennie was poor at the World Cup, the only highlight being his hair (to some) .

Supposedly a box to box player but nothing jumps out as to how he impresses at either end of the pitch despite who he plays for, personally.

Edge

1.) 24 Jan 2023 19:13:26
No more yank players or coaches. mediocre to gash.

2.) 24 Jan 2023 19:33:02
Xenophobia reigns!

3.) 24 Jan 2023 19:39:25
Bit short sighted surely, given the scope of opportunity that monopolising the U. S. football market represents? The revenue that could be generated from fan creation alone would be sufficient to provide for longevity in the PL. Make yer mind up Baz!?

4.) 24 Jan 2023 20:31:24
McKenna looks good on Fifa 23 ??.

5.) 24 Jan 2023 20:32:34
Yeah I take your point of course about US revenue fan creation. But what if said US coach and players aren't good enough and Leeds are therefore Championship peril.?

6.) 24 Jan 2023 21:39:43
Adams is our best player by far!

7.) 24 Jan 2023 22:03:36
Yes Mr Mounty he has been good generally . but what about JM and BA eh?

8.) 24 Jan 2023 22:55:48
Kane was poor at World Cup, would
You take him?

9.) 25 Jan 2023 00:41:39
Baz You're not thinking 4th dimensionally. As I've repeatedly posted, the more the merrier because then the American takeover is more likely to happen. Do you want LUFC to have an owner worth $5bn or just half a billion? I accept the risk of R is there but from where I sit it's only slightly elevated above minimal. Attitude should be supportive so the takeover finally done. As for Weston, he can play. I accept Brenden has been a flop so far but Tyler hasn't. That's a 50% success ratio so far as American players are concerned. You want to focus on xenophobic ratios, aim your fire at the Welsh. Tyler Roberts and Dan James. ✌️.

10.) 25 Jan 2023 02:33:00
Yep ok George persuasive points well made ; fair enough.

11.) 25 Jan 2023 05:33:13
I’m going to throw in my Pennie’s worth also. Some time back I thought if it were possible to entice McKennie to Leeds due to all its US connections then it could be a opportunity to bring in a real quality midfielder that we would not normally be able to attract due to our position in the league etc. Like Rodrigo de Paul and others turning their noses up at us
The fact Juve have been slapped with a 15 pts deduction has spurred his decision, the US Media are quite shocked that he would choose Leeds over potentially clubs a lot bigger than us.
It of course remains to be seen whether Leeds offer the price Juve might expect which is believed to be around 25 Mil.

12.) 25 Jan 2023 05:52:37
I was impressed by him at the world cup.

13.) 25 Jan 2023 07:17:41
George good post. Don’t think Arronson has flopped though. Pretty good start but as teams are targeting him he has found it tough. Hopefully needs to bulk up and adapt to prem football more. Still see a good player in him.

14.) 25 Jan 2023 07:43:23
Agree Spanish re BA. Said before that a summer bulk up will help him hold off the challenges. He did start very brightly indeed, and there is definitely a very, very good player there.

15.) 25 Jan 2023 10:38:42
I have never rated JM.
Aaronson will be OK, just in a bad patch.
So I guess you think Adams is mediocre and the other two gash then Baz?

16.) 25 Jan 2023 11:19:13
Adams is good Canada
BA and particularly JM mediocre bordering on gash.

Don't often pass comment on here but just need to get off my chest.

I'm concerned that we are treading water as a club / team; becoming a lower table team in how we perform or are perceived, and that seems to be acceptable.

New owners being mentioned but who / when will that be and what will change (an unknown I know) , current / rumoured new signings are not going to lift us to the next level.

Young players who seemed to have a future and played well under Bielsa not in the picture any longer,

New young players signed over the last 12 months who were supposedly performing well, not even in the squad and yet inconsistent first team players (Rodrigo, Roca) continually being picked (I know when you are in the bottom that blooding youngsters may be difficult but surely give them a chance) ,

Drameh, Geldhart, Joseph, Perkins are going backwards it seems.

I am really nervous about the Cardiff game, after we lost the last time to them in the Cup we went backwards from top of the Premier to League 1. May not be exactly the same situation but .

A manager who looks to be stressed / unclear on game plan does not inspire me with confidence either.

Edge

1.) 06 Jan 2023 21:37:20
What edge said 100% - and he is being too kind.

2.) 06 Jan 2023 22:26:13
Agreed on some points
Definitely we have SMALL CLUB mentality Radz owner in thought process and actions

But it's an absolute myth that Bielsa gave youth a proper chance. never played Summerville and look at him now . the Bielsa Drameh mess up well documented etc

And criticising Rodrigo seems largely unnecessary. bottom line in judging CF Rodrigo in the stat that counts the most . goals scored .10 goals in just 16 games . nuff said.

3.) 06 Jan 2023 23:08:17
Rodrigo scored 13th most fantasy league points in the premier league, premier leagues 5th top scorer and yet you find time to pick him out? Are you even watching Leeds this season Edge?

4.) 07 Jan 2023 01:29:14
Only behind Haaland and Kane in Minutes Per Goal, and only seem to remember him getting one penalty.
While we all agree Rodrigo could have scored more, he's doing pretty well really and as season isn't half way through if he continues he'd hit 20+ for the season.

5.) 07 Jan 2023 16:34:22
What new players played under Bielsa, are not getting a look in? Honest question, as I can’t think of any who are actually left at the club? ???.

07 Sep 2022 22:01:41
Would prefer to see Struijk replace Llorente in the centre and Hjelde at left back.

Edge

1.) 08 Sep 2022 00:41:20
What Edge says or even Hjelde at CB and continue with Pascal at LB. Send Diego back to Spain.

2.) 08 Sep 2022 01:22:12
Ayling Kock. Struick Hjelde

Or

Ayling Koch Cooper Struick

Must bear Forest.

3.) 08 Sep 2022 04:38:07
Bazadamus It's the points we need not the ability to tolerate. ?.

4.) 08 Sep 2022 09:01:11
What Baz said, except the last bit, I can’t bear Forest.

5.) 08 Sep 2022 09:56:04
Hehe George yep beat me ofc.

6.) 08 Sep 2022 10:13:19
Baz. Is that a reference to what bears do in a Forest?

7.) 08 Sep 2022 10:15:51
George, it’s a spelling mistake, he meant to say we must bore Forest!

Unless he has been trying out Helde a lot in training, can’t see him changing Struick u til Firpo is ready. Cooper and Koch centre backs for me. Worth a go.

8.) 08 Sep 2022 11:11:34
I may be in the minority here but I'd start:

Kristensen, Koch, Cooper, Struijk.

Start Kristensen as he's been a regular so far this season and I think that will make it easier for him to return immediately back into the fold. Ayling looked solid when he came on but he's only had 21 mins of football. Not sure he's up to 90 yet or even 60.

The inverse with Cooper though. He's shown he can come straight back into the team and put a shift in for 90. Plus I do think we are really missing his organisation and leadership at the back. No nonsense defending is needed sometimes as well.

Happy with Struijk at LB so far. He's been sound for the most part. Firpo on the bench to challenge for his spot. Hopefully it makes each other better having competition.

Midfield as is.

Start Paddy and give him a run out for 60 to help with his match fitness and confidence (thibk he wouldve put a couple of those in the net last week if he was back to form) .

9.) 08 Sep 2022 14:27:26
You should be in minority.
Ayling cooper Koch and firpo.
It’s like square pegs.

10.) 08 Sep 2022 15:39:50
I'm happy to start Firpo once he's proven fitness.

11.) 08 Sep 2022 19:58:25
There to tall for fullbacks Leo and pascal for me easy get turned wi winger 5.8 ideal.
