a good comfortable win against the bottom side but did what we needed to do, win and clean sheet.
Felt a bit deflated at end of game, happy with 3 points but how close saints were to losing, think 10min to go and 2-3, they did well to nick it but that hurt me as was thinking of how table would look.
Guess it shows they can leak goals but scoring well and think new player Brooks came on and changed game?
I still think ( and underwhelmed) we us not bringing in a forward was a mistake and think it could be our downfall.
We should have been 4-0 by HT and could easily have been 6-0 in the end. Some poor finishing and needs work still.
Regarding Bamford, i agree he is not droppable currently as our best option but i still don't rate him and needed upgrade, did think that was Piroe but not as yet.
Bamford misses too many and hasn't the pace to think he going to go past defenders and score.
Think may 4th could be a HUGE day.

Interesting post MW.

The real issue/ problem was that Leeds United recruiting team missed out/ messed up in summer window in not finding a reasonably PROLIFIC striker who scores goals AND helps makes Leeds play well, win most games!

Piroe was not that player.

When Piroe was bizarrely playing / plays in midfield ( very ineffectively ( and Rutter as a striker ( ineffectively) in 1st half of season Leeds often played badly away from home ( SIX DEFEATS)

And finding the right personnel esp a good striker in Jan window very difficult.

So starting Bamfordinho each game since beginning of Jan has made a huge improvement to our WIN RATIO!

One extra point MW re ' Bamford misses too many chances ' .

That also applies most certainly to :

Georginio Rutter ( by far the most profligate) , Gnonto, Summerville, Anthony etc

I do think some posters have over hyperboled just how good some of our players upfront are.

Yes they are playing well in Champo but none of them ( Rutter, Summerville, Gnonto) pulled up EPL trees last season / all are NOT proven in EPL.

Think Jimmy Gio and jamooka have improved their game in last 6 months baz.
To preempt
This maybe be could be because they are older and naturally improving or less likely could be down to freaks help.
However although I don’t think their improvement is enough alone to keep us in prem. Think we will be a more stable team than Bielsa gung ho. Enough to stay up I don’t know.

Bamfords running style makes him look slow, but that I’d deceptive. He is far from slow, and can gas a lot of defenders. That’s why they stick tight to his back. If he was slow, they would drop off.

{Ed001's Note - that's actually not really correct. You usually drop off a player who is faster than you so that you give yourself a yard start in a sprint. It is slower players you get tight to as they can't just run away from you.}

Agree with most parts of both Mel and Baz. Bamford undroppable atm but we do need someone more clinical who can also do the dog work Bamford does. Would like to see Rutter be more composed in front of goal too. He's brilliant in pretty much every phase, but that particular part of his game is lacking.

Regarding Rutter (20) , Gnonto (19) , Cry (21) , Anthony (23) - average age of 20.75 when they played in the Prem. Minimal to non existent EPL experience for a group of young lads. Hardly surprising they're showing a lot more this season. So I wouldn't take that season as an indicator for future performance in said league. Imo, all have the ability to play well in the EPL having gained valuable experience. And hopefully we find out!

Not always Ed, as it depends on the type of pace you’re dealing with. The first two yards on the turn of certain types of player make you drop on to not get skinned by a flick. It does vary depending on the type of player tho admittedly, plus the formation. Too many variables to set that particular one in stone, I admit!

Agree boys, some of them are young and have been very impressed with summerville’s goal scoring.
Rutter too playing very good stuff but does need to work on hitting target.
I really thought last summer when we bought a player ( i’d not really seen) . who has scored 20+ in last two seasons, he’d be the missing piece.

Apart from obv playing out of position. Maybe Leeds proving to be a bigger job than he expected melbs. However we have been crying out for years for more of the team to chip in. Potentially we have 6 plus players capable of double figure. Regardless how many they miss. And it is very frustrating. got to be an improvement.
