I have had time this morning to go back through old posts and get up to date and it has prompted a question for the other "foreigners" on here.

Through many years of reading posts here about football and also things Leeds in general, I have come to the realisation that I have an affiliation, a sense of belonging to Leeds (the city/ community not just the football club) .

For example, the idea that, when I am finally able to come to Leeds to watch a game at Elland Rd, walking into The Peacock for a beer will feel more like coming to a familiar place than a strange pub.

Am I just strange, or have some of you others had similar thoughts?

Count me out. Purely football based.
No yearning to be anywhere near Leeds. It’s pubs. Or it’s people.
Unless at eland rd.

What have Leeds, its pubs or its people ever done to upset you Aus?

Jungle, I understand how you feel, although I was born in Batley, close to Leeds and my grandparents TVs lived and died there, I moved away when I was young. I’ve lived all around the UK and then moved abroad 13 years ago. No one thinks I’m from the area because my accent is such a mixture and I’ve visited much more than I’ve lived in the area so I feel a foreigner. But the county, the city and its towns have an enormous place in my heart and I love being there. I always get to the ground early to savour the sights and the smells of pre match build up, I love it. For me my returns are my pilgrimages, I chance to reflect on my life and remember! Love every moment of it!

Not from Leeds myself, but have enjoyed lots of great night's out in Leeds as my daughter lived in Leeds for awhile, as well as the visits to see the football. Great place, good people.

How to win friends and influence people eh. ?
No ale chrissie.
Wouldn’t swap my world for anywhere in England. Lived north and south and completed my 35 yr sentence and jetted off to the sunset.
Now if Leeds could start playing all there games Kidd day. I be as happy as Larry.

I was from born in Fearnville, then moved to shadwell until big move to Melbourne.
I still miss Leeds, meeting mates for pool at Elbows and then pub crawl with curry to finish.
Come back every few years and is still Home but have a great life in Oz.

@Aus

I fully understand your sentiment; I have the exact opposite however.

I have spent the last 30 years traveling to oz 5-6 times a year, sometimes for a month at a time. I have turned down over that time, the opportunity to relocate at least 10 times. (Likewise, California, Colorado numerous times) .

One of the biggest reasons, is, as ridiculous as it sounds, is not being able to go to Elland Road! That’s not the sole reason, obviously, but even so, I just know it would make very sad not being able to do it when I want.
