Haven t posted on here for a while though I read the posts by others every day as usual. Its interesting to see that some of the ‘doom and gloom’ bashers that were so supportive of our new ‘saviour’ and critical of some of us for daring to show caution when ‘ItaliaBates’ took over, have went very quiet. Maybe they are in Spain or on holiday, or maybe they are worried the tax dodger will have to sell, or maybe they have realised that this guy is taking us back down to league one with his pig headed attitude and his inability to accept anything that's not cellino or salerno made. I remember one poster asked me, if cellino was a success this season would I admit I was wrong about him? Fourth from the bottom and falling, less than half of the players these two Chuckle brothers brought in are not good enough, wants to bring in another unproven target man when we need wingers to supply the strikers we already have, etc etc. I could go on, but I think the Rose Tinted Glass brigade would be able to put a good spin on all of it. One things for sure, it wouldn t be ItaliaBates’ fault. Right?

IrishWhite

1.) Well Irish. Totally understand where you are coming from, but disagree fundamentally about Cellino being like Bates. In fact I still believe that a part of the problem is that Bates is still far more connected with the club than we know about.
But think back several months when MC took over. There weren't exactly many others in the queue. I don't think any of us would have chosen him if Red Bull had come knocking on the door with their billions. And who knows, that might yet be the next step.

2.) Speedy, you could be right about Bates still being connected, if reports are true, cellino asked him and GFH for a loan, why if he s so wealthy, did he use his own(or his familys) money to buy in the first place? I just don't trust him. In my opinion, he s just like bates

3.) Can't answer that Irish because I agree it's all very odd, and I doubt we will ever be able to find out what's going on in the background. I don't want to come across as sounding like I think he is the Messiah, because I don't. I just think he was the best option at the time, but it is very worrying that he hasn't severed connections with the likes of Bates and GFH

4.) Top post Irish, like you I feel mr Cellino will be every bit as bad as master Bates

Bellusci- what a liability

IrishWhite

1.) Got found out for the goal but wasnt any worse than Wooton. Thought Silvestri was VERY good but couldn't understand Antelucci staying on and Sharp coming off. Yes Sharp wasnt really in the game but that's ONLY because everytime Antelucci got the ball he NEVER looked for Sharp once. As for Anteluccis offsides he's old enough and more experienced to know after the first couple of offsides you time your run. (VERY POOR INDEED)
Sloth did ok i'm assuming he took him off as he was drained, Austin did ok when he came on and Dakoura looked a threat. Mowatt got better as the game went on, Cook the same did what he had to.
This was against Birmingham who are not the best but a point away from home you have to accept.

2.) Mowatt got better later on because he was 'freed up' by Austin ad Doukara coming on. Antelucci was Better when Sharp came off. Couldn't work out where Sharp was supposed to be playing. He wasn't there to hold the ball up up front, no aerial threat and that made it difficult for the others. Donaldson, on the other hand for Birmingham knew how to play that role and Sharp should have taken notes on how to do it.

3.) Agreed Andy,
I think Sharpe and Doukara are our first choice pairing.

Byram Pearce Beluschi Warnock at back.

Mid is a minefield with potential talent pushing through but I would try Adryan or Montengro with Sloth Mowatt and Cook.
Improvement today again overall and unbeaten in 2 Redders keeping it nicely warm for GMac.

4.) Il cacc
Antelucci might come good but today his constant offsides were VERY POOR, not just a yard offside but miles off.

So, turn down over 1 mil for Smith and then soon after sell him for 500k, what a great bit of business that was. NOT. Not to worry though I m sure the rose tinted glass brigade will be able to put a good spin on it

IrishWhite

1.) Could have something to do with other transfers, or loans pending, or where he was prepared to go, personal terms etc. We'll never know, but he did come on a freebie!

(I'm not putting a spin on it, just pointing out some possible reasons)

2.) 02 Sep 2014 12:10:51
Selling Smith, who scored 14 goals last season with little real service, sadly confirms the rapid mood swings and whimsical approach of Massivego Cellino. Here today and gone tomorrow!
Unfortunately it also sends out a bad message to both potential new managers and to our current emerging squad of promising youngsters - you may we praised today but probably will be gone tomorrow if you express a fancy for the wrong colour or have a grandmother with the wrong birthday, or fail to select "His team"!
I have stated previously, this guy is a cannon waiting to explode whenever his mood swings, a classic dictator who's only real interest is courting popularity - sure he loves to splash his cash in the pub boasting how he will buy back Elland Road (November is fast approaching) and get us into the Premiership in 2 years (recently slipping to soon or 3 years).
He is proving to be little different to the previous owners, if someone throws money on the table it's quickly grabbed and the players on his way. Look at Southampton, also owned by some pasta family who have raked in nearly £100m with little cash expended on new players - it used to be called commercial rape!
I'm waiting with baited breath for some of the accountants and investigative journalists' out there to discover where his rumoured money was actually made and how much there really is? Or is it all hype and fuel his ever growing ego?
Yes he claims to have has paid off debts (proof anyone other than the IR have backed away for now?) but has also pocketed £12m of club player assets with very little actually reinvested - lots of freebies' and lone players for a year which don't have to be paid for until end of the next 12 months. It's all too much like the barrow boys of yesterday for my liking!
Don't get me wrong, I hope that this latest mad rush gamble does deliver what's promised, but for now I don't see green shoots, more like tinder dry grass likely to burst into flames the first time Massivego feels threatened or embarrassed.

3.) 02 Sep 2014 12:22:38
Who offered 1m for Smith & when?

4.) I posted this a little earlier, but I'll add it again for your benefit IrishWhite:

For the sake of a balanced view, I never really rated him, and I for one won't miss him.
I watched him at the friendly (yes, I know!) at Walsall last year and he looked like he couldn't be bothered, which peed me off a bit to be honest. He did little for the remainder of last season to un-p*ss me off. I'm not saying he's a journeyman, I just don't rate him that highly.
Just an opinion, so don't shoot me down!
Given a little time to gel, our current firepower may make people look back and say Matt who?

4-6 weeks’ time we'll be in a much stronger position. We're not going to win the league, or even get to the playoffs, but a healthy top half finish this season would do for me.

MC said 2 years to get into Prem. Given the last 10 years, I'd happily take prem in 3 years! Matt Smith was never going to get us there, sorry.

It may not have been great business for us, but I don't think it was a great purchase of Fulham either.

I wish him all the best though!

{Ed013's Note - I saw Matt Smith play a lot and he wasn't the greatest player to put on the white shirt, far from it and his touch and passing ability was awful at times. He was however still learning the game and a threat in the air that would scare defences to death on set pieces. His goal return last season was very good for his first season and will get better. If Leeds had better service from the wing I imagine Smith would have had more goals and I would have kept him to bring on as an aerial threat if things were going wrong with ten minutes to go. I wish him good luck and hope he does well. He could have gone to Palace last January, but stayed at Leeds and helped the team}

5.) Jury is still out for me Richard111. I'm trying to remain positive, but I do feel you have a few valid points.

My main worry is the coach situation. It will be a brave or stupid man who takes the role. I hope it's Clarke and he would have been my first choice, but after Garcia turned us down for Watford I'm not so sure if Clarke will do the same. Who in their right mind would turn down the opportunity of managing a massive club like us? Slightly biased, but true. Is it because they are worried about the "Manager Eater"?

6.) Agreed Ed013, he's still learning the game, and may go on to be a solid player. Half a million profit in 1 year isn't that bad for someone who's not the finished article. Personally I doubt if he ever will be. I'm grateful for what he did do though, so good luck Matt, happy for you to prove me wrong and set the world on fire.

7.) Richard111
We all know MC is bonkers, but what was your preferred alternative?

8.) Blimey lads, av a look at yerselves an get over it. How many times have I seen Smith slated on here. He is not part of the plan. You going to complain when Hunt goes? How do you know Smith was not part of the McCormack deal? Suck it up and support our club whatever

9.) 02 Sep 2014 13:03:18
Look we sold Smith for £800,000 plus extras.
If he's good enough it will climb to £4 mill.

10.) Like I replied to a post on monday he was sold and Fulham have to pay a signing on fee and buy his NEW contract out.
It was put on the media as undiclosed because at the moment its just under £1mill and it could rise to over triple that depending on apperances, goals, promotion and other add ons.

11.) Smith was not up to it in my opinion, something of a one trick pony, a throw back to our hoof ball style of play under Warnock etc, who knows from the evidence of the Bolton game (I know one swallow doesn't make a summer, no smutty replies please) perhaps we are going to become a footballing side again, I for one was impressed with our midfield and with the additions it can only get better and develop further, as the Don said back in the days of my youth "let the ball do the work" we did that in the first half and looked good, so I can understand us letting Smith go and I wish him well. for most of the season anyway

Wilsosd MOT

12.) 800,000 + add ons if true is great business. How does it work with his loyalty bonus for not requesting a transfer? Do we have to pay up?

13.) Thought smith cost 350 grand!?

So before you all go kissing cellinos feet for the great deal he pulled off in selling mc c for 11m, reality is about to set in. The whole deal will cost fulham 11m which includes wages, which means cellino will get about half that, which is what was offered before and turned down in jan, difference is gfh would have pocteted the money then, now massimo ' I won't sell to another championship club ' cellino gets the dough. Question is, will he put it into buying quality? if he even puts it back in .Last weeks signing of an over the hill goalkeeper proves not. let's see if everyone is still kissing his a~~ in the months to come

IrishWhite

1.) Irish
I should take a long look at the £11 mill bud!!

2.) "selling mc c for 11m, reality is about to set in. The whole deal will cost fulham 11m which includes wages, which means cellino will get about half that, which is what was offered before and turned down in jan, "

Not quite sure what planet you are on, but this has nothing to do with 'wages' whatsoever? Leeds will get around £8million upfront from what I understand and the rest to come if Fulham get promoted, etc. We have to pay Cardiff 15% of the basic fee as far as I understand, which will be around £1.2million.

How can this equate to the £5million that was turned down earlier? Don't forget, Cardiff would also have got their share of that?

Added to this, some of this money has already been spent on promising incoming players, rather than the Ken Bates pension fund where most transfer money ended up in the past?

Stop being so negative and look forwards for a change?

Just watched the press conference again, with this coach and his very impressive 34% win ratio in over 200 games, he won't be seeing the end of his ridiculous 2 year contract. These two puppets are well out of their league.

IrishWhite

1.) 20 Jun 2014 22:01:20
McDermott - 37% win ratio
Warnock - 36% win ratio

These were allegedly two managers who had great Championship experience and knew how to get promotion.

Football doesn't always go the way it's supposed to.

Also to comment that Cellino is out of his depth is incredible seeing as he's been in charge of a team who have spent the majority of their time playing in Serie A under his reign and also had some moderate success in Europe.

Yes we have the potential to be a giant again but that doesn't mean we currently are we're in the second tier of English football and haven't been in the top flight for almost a decade.

I think Cellino knows what he's doing somehow.

2.) Exactly JBM, this guy is worse than those two, and also, I was talking about cellinos two puppets not him, you know whackaday and the other guy that said about six words

3.) 2v year contract for doc holiday? 2 weeks would be too long, struggling to find anything remotely positive in this appointment, pushing 60 failure at non league level, absolutely surreal, a literally a nobody, dunno how he, d the front to send his cv in.

4.) We must be the worst set of moaning fans in the league . everyone connected to this club get slatted wether it's coach players, bus driver tea lady floor polisher grass cutter wtf it's MC company he put he's money into our club . none of us probably couldn't and DIDNT,!Do you think he's going to flush £20 million down the bog,! I for one don't! For gods sake stop moaning he's probably saved us from admin and certainly saved us for GFH AND PAPA SMURF GET. A GRIP WERE CALLED SUPPORTERS FOR A REASON SO BLOODY SUPPORT OR PUT you're MONEY WERE MC HAS,! Fed up reading doom and gloom all time I'm sure if wakaday don't do the business he'll be shown door and quicker than he would've done with any BIG COACHES as compo would be peanuts so give all the NEW STAFF PLAYERS AND COACHES your SUPPORT IF that's WHAT YOU CALL YOUSELVES
( and yes I don't agree with hockadays appt, but il give him and all newcomers a chance BECAUSE I SUPPORT OUR CLUB

6.) Nice one wingy, there's way toomany doom and gloom merchants on here, ffs give the bloke a dhance we haven't kicked a ball yet, and the players are professionals sho get well paid to do their best whoevers in charge, cellino is no mug.if he does well great, if not he gets shut, I doubt he can do any worse than the last two we've had, he may suprise us all, give him a chance.

7.) Wingy top drawer mate

So called supporters want a big name coach who will want big name players costing god knows how many £££££££££s on wages and compo, then when the clubs running at a loss all these Victor Meldrews on this site will be sat in there armchairs slagging someone else off!
Rant over and if your LEEDS support them FGS

8.) Cheers Andy, rhino, Spain like you guys, I read every txt everyday (can't wait too see what's happening at our club) SADDO I KNOW LOL I sometimes comment sometimes bite my lip but by god since we've been takin over by MC I've never felt so pissed off with comments that are supposed to be from someone akin to me as being a LOYAL LEEDS FAN am I. Missing something guys,, do we have to expect everyone joining us, to bring this club to its knees . as I'm very positive about MC and what he's going to do with us.I think Thorpe arch possibly being replaced and e/ road being brought back tells us something that MC 's not after a quick buck but going to get this moth eaten, giant of a club, where it should be and keep it there! We can't say that about anyone in last decade to get anywhere near that!and Not yo yo up and down but it may take 2/3 years yet but HEY. let's enjoy the ride ( even you mr bloody meldrews may smile while enjoying the ride) so buckle up lads it starts now!

Guys a source now standing very close to me has told me there won't be any more Guinness drunk here before the weekend, unfortunately this is a FACT. However, there is an agreement in place to resume consumption at 5 pm on Saturday after we beat the gulls, now this is a definite FACT. MOT

Just like its very difficult to read any posts that don’t slag off people that have a different view to you, you mean. Yesterdays performance against DU was ok, not great but not bad, but let's get real, we ll need to play better when the season gets going, hopefully we will and the new players (and the existing ones) take this league by storm, but time will tell whether they or the coach/blametaker do indeed have the ability to compete in the league. You ll probably not believe this, but I really want this club and team to succeed and I will be the first to admit I was wrong to doubt if it is a success, but I ll not bow down to the ‘rose tinted glass brigade’ who will accept anything that's told to them, or printed in the papers. I m cautious because of what we ve been through in the past. I ve been a Leeds supporter for over 40 Years and have bought a season ticket (have you) for the past 15 years but you write that ‘negative’ posters are only happy when we lose, are you for real? What a ridiculous comment.

Spain, I ll just add a little to your 'positives'
1 Bought the club with his own money? How do you know he bought it with HIS own money, yes his family is worth a lot of money but how do you know he used it to buy the club? Because he said so? How do you know it wasn t borrowed meaning it needs to be paid back.
2 Wants to keep our best players? He s just sold our best player, who are all these other best players? Byram and mowatt? Is that it, is that really it?
3 Has 20 m in working capital + 11 m? Is the 11 m from mc c sale? We got closer to half that when cardiff get their share, we do get more if fulham get promoted, but that's if.
4 let's not even talk about the 'fallguy' hockaday or these unknown players who will get a wakeup call when the championship begins.
I guess we agree we are Leeds fans but disagree in the way forward
