Still awaiting news on a goalie bit concerning and nothing happening still on player sales as far as I can see. Mes Matteo Bamford etc just seems to have gone quiet.

It’s only the fans and media who feel that a new goalkeeper is the most important buy this summer for us. I’m not sure it’s Farke’s or the club’s.
Personally I think that 15/ 20 Mil will be spent more wisely elsewhere.

I have to say OP in my opinion neither Meslier or Darlow are premiership quality, if a class goalkeeper is not being sought we will be shooting ourselves in the foot, again my opinion as we are bringing in decent players at the moment but without a decent goalie it may well be all for nothing.

I agree with most of the posters here, Meslier isn't 1st XI quality (although I would work hard to persuade him that he should still be part of the squad, and mention to him that there aren't many suitors out there) .
But I would like to see someone with a bit more Premiership experience than Cooper coming in as a first choice keeper. That idea just smacks of desperation as I doubt SU would have him as first choice if they had gone up.

All about opinions Axe, personally I thought Cooper looked the part last season. If Newcastle get Trafford, Pope would suit me too.

{Ed001's Note - I was impressed by the little I saw of Cooper too. If I was looking for a keeper for a Prem team that would cost a reasonable in Prem terms price, he would be the one I would look at.}

Cooper is definitely a promising keeper but apparently they are asking 25 million plus!
I actually believe we need two GKs but can’t see it this season.
Think we can get better than Cooper especially at the cash Sheff want.
He’s definitely a good prospect though.
Get him for 10-12 as a good backup and pushing for a start, definitely.

if that is true which I doubt, you’d be radio rental to pay that money for him.
I’m not impressed by any of the keepers that we are linked with. If our club do spend on a keeper then I want to think, now there’s a keeper for us in the Prem!

Most blunts fans don’t want Cooper to leave and they do rate him highly, but, no blunt fan will admit that his distribution is good either.
It might be something he can improve on but I don’t want us to be taking a risk on a potentially 20 Mil keeper who’s going to come short in that part of his game.
It’s why no Premiership team has yet tabled a bid for him, improve on his distribution and ii’m certain he will be with a good Premiership team down the line somewhere.
