For everyone talking about us being a "joke" and no manager with any "profile" touching us with a barge pole.

Spurs managers since 2001 (Levy years)

Pleat (twice)
Clive Allen (twice)
Graham
Hoddle
Santini
Jol
Ramos
Redknapp
AVB
Sherwood
Pochettino

They're hardly in a spiral towards league one, are they? MC realised his mistake with DH and corrected it, just like DL did with Santini & Ramos.

{Ed013's Note - Don't worry about Spurs, or any other teams. Leeds will have their day again}

1.) Agree 100 with ed and nmclufc72. we will rise again cream always does and I think it will be under MC. Just a shame Hock wasnt given more of a chance

2.) Make your mind up. You've been slagging the bloke since 15 minutes in at Millwall, now you say shame he wasn't given more of a chance. Priceless.

3.) Bermondsey, I assume you are taking the micky. You wanted him burnt at the stake the moment his name was mentioned!

4.) 29 Aug 2014 18:53:14
Irony methinks Chris! 1-0 to Berm just hope its 1-0 Leeds tomoz!

5.) My hock comment was very tounge in cheek. made my mind up from day one and never changed it. I want to hire hock again just to sack him

Been away for a while but wanted to get something off my chest.

In general we still have so much negativity around what's going on at Leeds, but I think now is the time to try and think a bit about what's going on.

The reason the deals for Viviani and Benedicic are taking so long is that they are clearly loans with the option to buy. This is great business from Leeds, let's get 2 young players in, if they don't cut it we can send them back with no financial loss, if they do we potentially have 2 young premier class midfielders who we can buy.

Tom Lees. A good lad, but made too many mistakes, we shouldn't let his history with the club cloud that judgment. Also if you look at what TL actually said was that he wanted a fresh start, at worst that's a mutual 50 / 50, if not more leaning towards TL actually asking to leave.

Hockaday. In my opinion he's in for one thing only, to get the team fit and working hard. MC doesn't see him as a person who is capable of getting us promoted, the head coach will change. Hockaday is a short term solution.

All the above points back to one of the first things that MC said when he took over. We won't get promoted this year, this is a building year for us to be challenging next year.

I know we still need players in (Defenders / Striker), but we're getting there, the situation at Leeds was never in a million years going to be resolved in one pre season, if you think that you're dreaming. I have some optimism that those areas are being worked on by Salerno & MC, and that we will see the right type of player with (most importantly) the right attitude coming in over the coming months.

I know this post will attract some criticism for being overly optimistic, but our club has been in decline for a decade now, and drastic measures were needed.

This is the start of rebuilding, I would encourage everyone to remember that when (not if) we go through some difficult patches next season. We want to be in a position to attract promising, quality footballers to Leeds (Viviani, Benedicic, Silvestri) and not scare them away by being a divided supporter base.

Patience.

1.) That makes interesting reading, but you are right - it is overly optimistic.
First, the Championship is an extremely competitive and cut-throat league, so if you don't perform, you are in the bottom 3 before you know it. Secondly, patience is all very well …but we are Leeds and not the most patient fans around. Thirdly, there could not have been a worse time for Cellino to go off on his jollies, with so much at stake at this important time. Fourthly, every day seems to bring fresh disappointments - today's being that Viviani seems to have signed for Latina and not us.
Finally, there is still too much underachieving dead wood for us to perform effectively - Hunt, Morrison, Wootton and especially Warnock, who made more mistakes last season than Lees did. So unless there is some explosive action in the next week, I can see us lurching into another crisis-ridden season with the prospect of heading downwards not upwards. Getting loan deals sorted is not rocket science - Salerno should have done better in this last couple of weeks. Having said that, I have supported LUFC for 53 years, and will continue to do so with all you other good guys…. MOT!

Well, trying to focus on the positives, we should remember that MC is trying to build a team of people, not just 1 man.

If we can get Salerno then you will have MC & Salerno buying the players, Carbone linking between them and a coaching staff of Gibbs, Redfearn and Hockaday.

It's unproven, but it may work, rather than 1 man having sole say about what goes on.

We've had disasters with "managers" in the past, signing people on ludicrous contracts that have proved nothing, suppose we have to give it a chance.

Taking what to pieces, we don't have anything to take?

No one will convince me that someone who has spent £50m MINIMUM so far is trying to run a club into the ground, he's a bit mad granted, but you'd need to be sectioned for willfully throwing that money in the toilet.

@sloughwhites, your intentions are right in terms of not taking opportunities away from youth, but the young lads are a big risk in terms of being capable of performing. A good balance of proven (albeit at mid table teams abroad) players and youth is the way to go. Trust me, if the kids are good enough, they will play.
