Just heard, Leeds have made an enquiry into buying Chris Burke from Birmingham. quoted a price of around £750,000 {Ed013's Note - Hasn't he just had a years extension to his contract?}

hector

1.) Its only a year and Blues need to get players off the wage bill.

I would be worried, if that was a year on top of and existing 3 year contract

2.) Wasn't that year added due to appearances he made, could easily be true, they maybe did that to stop him going for free so they could get a fee for him. Be nice to see us buy someone early doors I think that will set a lot of worried minds at ease slightly

3.) 2nd poster I think your correct, as far as I was aware it was an auto extension of one year due to appearances that was written into his contract.

4.) Which would be why we have to pay that much? as opposed to free?

5.) The contract extension was an extra year option clause which was triggered by brum. They will have taken up the option to stop him leaving on free. Good business to be fair and I agree, if a good fee is offered they will accept as brum are heading for financial dire straits.

6.) He has had a year extension to his contract but that doesn't mean we can't make a cheeky bid for him.

For me he was player of the season in the Championship 11/12, last season wasn't as productive, but he still retains that ability and I think he would be a real coup if we managed to get him.

7.) Birmingham financial woes mean a number of players will be out of the door this summer. 750k for Burke (at his age and with a year on contract) would actually seem rather high. 400-500k would be closer the mark.

8.) Ive just heard that 2

looks like leeds will announce the signing of chris humphrey after he confirmed his desire to play for leeds in an article for motherwell's website. also heavily linked with Inverness striker Billy McKay

hector

1.) I can't see anything on Motherwells website about Humphrey

2.) He has been offered an extended contract by Motherwell. So there could be some substance to this rumour but the site wouldn't publish his desire to leave now would they?

3.) Cant find owt on motherwell site

4.) Chris Humphrey looks like he is off to rangers, not good enough for us if we want to progress anyway.

5.) Rangers have a transfer embargo until September so if he wants to miss first month of season he won't be going there

6.) Newco are daft enough to pay at least 3 times what motherwell will offer and they wonder why they lost 7 million last year, when average wage in division 3 is £75 a week

7.) If Robert Snodgrass was good enough when he signed from Livingston, and he was / is then who in their right mind would refuse Chris Humphrey an opportunity. the guy is also a Jamaican international and, who knows, could be good for Rodolph Austin

8.) Rangers can still sign players on a case-by-case basis, during a transfer embargo.
Ultimately, just a lot more paperwork but an embargo doesn't mean they can't sign, just that each potential signing must be justified to SFA

Matt Kilgallon released by Sunderland, surely worth looking at bringing him in

hector

1.) Why?. He has failed to get into a 'shockingly poor' Sunderland team. there seems to be an unexplained desire to have back what we have let go and who isn't wanted by the club they are with.

2.) No thanks.

3.) He was pants before and he still is, let him rot in the lower leagues.

4.) This guy has a bad attitude which is exactly the type of thing MCD doesn't want. We won't be signing him.

5.) Is he any better than Tom Lees or Jason Pearce? In my opinion, no he is not. and he's older, maybe one for Mr Warnock.

6.) I saw him getting his eyebrows plucked on a stall in shopping centre in Harrogate 6 months ago. I'd rather not. We have too many prima donnas as it is at Elland Road

7.) Why? here we go again persons wanting to bring back hasbeens and neverwheres!

8.) Not needed - being released by a very poor Sunderland team - cope on! We need quality!

9.) Was a very promising player, and looked to have a bright future -but that was 7-8 years ago, and he seems to have lost his way badly. Probably not the right move for us now, with Lees doing so well, and Pearce having a point to prove (and both being a lot younger). Chapel A
