After a few discussions with the lads over the England game it got to Leeds as it usually does and we entered the subject of former players who have been capped for England. (Palmer I have no idea how!) then the topic of best Leeds team excluding the Revie era.

I went for this;

Martyn
Kelly Woodgate Ferdinand Dorigo

Strachan Batty Mcallister Speed

Cantona Viduka

Hard not to mention players such as; Sheridan, chapman, Sterland, bowyer, Wallace, Yeboah, and of course the legend that is Radebe but I would go with that. I'll add that in the era of Revie, Eddie Gray was a world beater and we should have 8 more trophies than we have. See what you think boys and girls, would love to see your teams and opinions.
MOT :)

It just makes you realise how things have changed. However perhaps Cook, Mowatt, Byram, Taylor could fingers crossed join those names above in the future.

Radebe for Ferdinand
Bowyer for Batty
Kewell for Speed
Hasselbaink for Cantona

And your team is correct

Bowyer for batty. U sure Georgy boy??
Rest are cool though!
Oh and
Should I do something about my pic being used on the rumours page in. 4 tips to get ripped ad, without my permission??

thought he said played for england

Would change Woodgate for Radebe, legend, and Dorigo for Harte simply for his free kicks. Would like to find a place for Milner and Gradel in midfield but who to leave out? Maybe Gradel for Speed. Got to have Yeboah up front for Cantona. Beckford-Viduka close call

6.) 01 Apr 2015 09:42:18
Nobody's mentioned Morison. Odd!

7.) 01 Apr 2015 14:30:10
Speed not gradel. Def vid not beck

hard to chose over batty and boywer both were class but very different players. look back over recent glory days and you will see how important bowyer was. Has to be dorgio over harte for me he was better defensively and going forward just not with free kicks. Biggest disgrace was no Lukic for england (played for england B) I know he is my fav player so bit biased but from 88-92 there was no better keeper. the fact he won league with two different clubs (only keeper to do so) shows how class he was. I would also say robbo was better than Martyn at international level. Martyn should of played more but was always bit dissapoint for england IMO

Ausman, different players but no player had a better engine than Bowyer. He was goalscorer from midfield could rely on him for 9 or 10 a season. Sounds biased but during the 00/01 campaign he was actually close to being one of the best players in the world playing like he was possessed. This means he must displace Batty. As for how this team would play, it would play without a strict defensive midfielder and would probably score many goals.

10.) 01 Apr 2015 22:08:24
agree with george bowyer wasuntouchablefor a while, should of played more for england, if you go with batty for defensive qualities maybe drop strachan for boywer as they play more similar roles and similar in qualities, both great so hard to call. also harsh on plamer our first year back in europe (think 94-95) plamer come on great 2nd half of season and was major reason we all needed our passports renewed(welli didn I was 12 but you know what imean)

11.) 01 Apr 2015 23:05:06
also beckford, scored in league one useless in prem and championship, can not lace others boots. Same with kwelle too absent in big games unlike speed who carried us 92-93 with out him we may of gone down and no one mentions lukic. (shakes head in disbelife)

Does everyone really think O'Leary would be a bad choice for a return? He was a coach to start with as I remember and only when the champions league and expectations of challenging for the title came about did he under advisement from Gerard Houlier delegate responsibilitys and so Brian Kidd was brought into take coaching. The football we played under him was quality at times and the defending was one thing we have not had for a long time! (Solid) His first choice defence of, Mills, Ferdinand, Woodgate, Matteo, never conceded a goal in their 10 games. His signings of Batty, Dacourt, Bridges, (Huckleberry hound and Wilcox excluded but to be honest did a job) Mills, Keane, Viduka, and yes I will put Fowler in because at 11 mill he was bought at christmas and finished the season joint top scorer with Viduka and said Leeds were the only fans he could imagine playing in front of if he left Liverpool. We as fans were let down in that period by the people who run the club. Bowyer, Woodgate, even Dubbery and Bridges with the incident at Madjeskic caused problems to what ended and maybe contributed in our exit from the premier league. Bowyer seemed to thrive with performance after performance but Woodgate didn't and in my opinion was every bit as good as Rio if not better. Terry Venables said it himself in a pressconfrence with (Peter likes goldfish) saying "I knew Rio was going after the world cup, but he goes for 29 million and Johnathan goes to Newcastle for 9!? There is a 20 missing in my opinion." I think the fans of this great club that have such a great following around the world! THE BEST AWAY SUPPORT without a doubt! Now deserve happy time (sorry ma bird was muttering to me so happy time took a whole new meaning! I'm getting the car for work tomorrow haha) Anyways I would start with a coach like George Graham to kick us off because he sorted the defence and built from there. Times have changed since Wilco but he brought Vinnie Jones in to help kick us out this league! Think it is unfair on Vin because he could play but he was good at scaring the shyte out of the top players who like to dwell on the ball.
All da best fellow Leeds fans and let's hope for a top coach. Mot

Yay I'm registered! Long time reader of the site and love it, so top job Ed 13 as work, family (kids especially) take much of anyone's time let alone running a fan site as an editor! Pft the banter you must of seen but could post! Haha. So dedication my friend and sure no one would disagree

I might do a survivor and say I know this or that but at the end of the day I don't and survivor is probably more in the know than me or most. I know an ex player from Rothwell and an ex Leeds player who is more interested in motorcycle racing and living at the coast than football (Batty will never be involved in football! Quote Survivor on it) Smithy the bmx And Batty the motor lol.

I met Shearer, Teddy, Batts, Lee (underated and never capped I don't think?) Shilton and Eddie Gray don't count because it was awards lol.
