Luke Freeman a possible target from Stevenage. Good pacy winger and Brian McDermott knows has good lower league knowledge from his previous experience as a scout at Reading.

Believable8 Unbelievable48

Why didn't he sign him for Reading then?

Lots' of guessing going on here. Is the "Red Bull deal done" a guess too, or perhaps imminent or a fact?

Agree0 Disagree0

What red bull deal the deal to rename stadium erm we can't do a deal for that all we can do is sell advertising like herco bastion ermm have they baught the stadium? well fact is we don't own it so still no money coming our way ermmmm have they baught the club the fact that 3 new appointees in valuable positions ne acting ceo new md and new chairman doubtfull maybe they sponsoring a player?

Agree0 Disagree1

Whether the original poster is right or not, I have to say to the 2nd reply that I think GFH are moving in the right directions with their appointments at board level. When Bates et al left, there was always going to be a shakeup. What did you expect? That everyone brought in would already be incolved at the club?! Get real.

Jees! It doesn't matter what we do as a club at the moment, we seem to have a reason to moan about it.

I read on here the other day someone saying that if the Red Bull deal is true, then it's 'typical Bates'. I'm not quite sure how that's even valid. It's like as a group of people, our fans just like to moan about stuff.

Agree3 Disagree0

Sadly this deal is not done yet, otherwise it, d be announced on the official site (guessing).

Mills to sign this wkend, as more money has been put in the club urgently to prepare us for start of season, also winger from Bury to sign and Doyle back on the radar. two players to exit aswell. Sam byram going nowhere this will all come out in the next4-5 days.

Believable17 Unbelievable50

I've seen nothing from the owners to suggest they do anything with a sense of urgency. More made up garbage.

Red Bull will invest in Elland Road and Thorpe Arch which will give us the funds to purchase targets such as Matt Mills, Reece Warbara and Adam Le Fondre who will hopefully contribute to getting us back were we belong, in the Premier League. MOT!

Not sure where this is coming from as Leeds united don't own elland road, so if they spend 50m its going to the owners of the ground! Way off fellas

Wish red bull would hurry up.

A good friend of mine for inside leeds told me today that German champions bmfc have made an inquiry about Sam byram before you all start shooting me down this is what I have been told and after all its just an inquiry so we will have to see what happens.

Believable14 Unbelievable59

It's FC Bayern not bmfc and i'm more likely to join them than Byram.

Agree4 Disagree2

Love it - FC Byram Munich. Where do they make it all up!?

Agree2 Disagree0

Byram already plays for Brian McDermott FC.

Agree1 Disagree1

Might be true, clubs make enquiries all the time, and they did sign dale jennings a few seasons ago

Further information about the Red Bull speculation. They have put a 50m offer to buy Elland road, which will be named The Red Bull Arena/Stadium - and possibly buy Thorpe arch. I believe this is what we need, use the 50m as building foundations for the Premier League!

Believable25 Unbelievable54

We don't own elland road so the £50 mill would not be coming to us

Agree3 Disagree1

We don't own Elland road so we wdnt get any of that money

Agree2 Disagree0

Id wish they, d get on with it and get this deal concluded.

Agree3 Disagree2

Call me Mr Dim but I don't see how this works. Step by step:

1. ER is not owned by the club. It is owned by someone/something else - Teak Trading / Ken Bates Evil Empire / some other bunch of reptiles.

2. Therefore Red Bull would not be buying ER from the club but from Teak Trading or whoever.

3. Therefore the proceeds of sale of ER would not go to the club but to Teak Trading or whoever. Imagine a huge happy oink as they ingest this huge sum of money.

4. How therefore will the proceeds of sale - £50m or otherwise - be available to the club to invest?

Feel free to shoot me down in flames as the biggest dimwit in town.

Agree5 Disagree0

How would we have 50m, the owners of ER aren't going to give us all the money they make from selling THEIR assets. dream up another!!

Agree3 Disagree0

We can't sell what we don't own?! So why would that money then go to team building?

Agree3 Disagree0

If your talking about the ground its not worth anywhere near 50m.
If your talking about the club I don't think GFH have any intention of selling till were in the prem

Agree1 Disagree0

Red Bull cannot buy Elland Road, only we are allowed to buy the stadium until 2015.

Agree1 Disagree0

They could actually buy the naming rights in a deal which allows leeds to buy back the stadium. The owners of the stadium probably have no rights on the name of the stadium. It depends on the fine print in the sale. But they can give the money to buy the stadium with a naming right once purchased.

Agree0 Disagree1

Elland Road and TA are owned by Bates. Circa £40m to purchase both. Would save extortionate rent paid by club to Bates!.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not worth £50m!
I was under the impression we got first dibs on buying the ground, the fee of £14m rings a bell but I may be wrong.
Anyway maybe red bull are giving us the money to buy the ground and the rest we can blow on players in exchange for naming rights! Sounds like a win lose situation, I don't think red bull are that stupid.
I only guessing here so feel free in shooting me down/the messenger whatever you like

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we sold the ground for 11m and could buy it back anytime in the next 25 years for what it was worth at that time we sold it but we had to pay about 1. 5 m rent slightly rising every year. we had 5 years to by TA for 5m but that has lapsed and its now worth 9m. if we were given say 25m by red bull we could buy back both and have 5m left for a promotion push. I don't think anyone would mind both being called red bull something if that was the case.

Agree2 Disagree1

15M closer to the truth, and Red bull can buy it as long as the money is first given to GFH who then are able to buy it as owners of LUFC. Not a penny of that money will go to LUFC it will go to the current owners. When the stadium is bought then there will be a further injection of cash from Red Bull which will go to LUFC and this is for naming rights.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the poster was meaning the 50M would go to leeds with the intention of a Leeds buy back of ER and TA. Red Bull would then have naming right over one or both. Any additional funds would potentially be available for players.

The first bit is good "sustainable business" as it vastly increases the clubs assets and decreases the operational costs i. e. rent.

Although we all want to go on the Leeds OS and see "giant war chest available" I would be very happy with a potential buy back, especially if it is not negatively impacting our finances like this.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would expect any investment to include shares, not just naming rights. A share in Leeds is worth as much as anyone is willing to pay for it, hence, the club gets however many millions to invest.
The deal is likely to include clauses on purchase of stadium/ training ground and naming rights for one or both (renaming the team will be blocked by FA. unless they want to treat us differently to everyone else. FA would never do that, well, maybe not this week)
I posted this months ago as a mere prediction and explained it in the same terms I am, now. I have nothing but trust in GFH, they've made all the right moves. Stop fretting.
CityWhite

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if we got that money, we couldn't invest it all in players. There are rules on investments and how much can go towards player purchases.

Seems realistic to me that they could give the club the money so they can buy back the ground and then get naming rights. Why not?!

Or, for example, the discussion could be that were we the owners of the club, Red Bull would be interested, meaning that GFH may see the benefit of purchasing back Elland Road if such a deal could be agreed. To be honest, as a business, I would think that in buying back the club, GFH would need to be certain they would get a return for their investment. As such, I'd be surprised if they hadn't been courting several companies with a view to securing a sponsorship deal and naming rights for the stadium should they buy it back.

Lets say they buy back ER and TA for £20m. they find investors prepared to pay double that for sponsorship and naming rights, and suddenlty they've made a sound investment. Otherwise, all they're doing is adding to their assets and reducing an annual bill. Great for the club's future, but not for the investor's pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could build a new ground for £50 million!

It would be cheaper in the long run to build a new ground that would allow us to increase the capacity as and when required than buy back ER and then have to spend on bringing it up to scratch.

Jason Pearce bid accepted from unnamed Championship club, believed to be Bournemouth where he was previously captain.

It's why he wasn't playing last night.

-MS

Believable70 Unbelievable33

We need another centre back without getting rid of one first, we only have two!
However, if Brian doesn't fancy Pearce and would rather get rid to fund a deal for his preferred 1st choice centre back then I can see this happening.

Agree2 Disagree0

It would be nice, and I thought the same but when we got Pearce we actually fought off Norwich to sign him, that tells me we paid him over the odds to come to us. And I know Norris and Kenny got high wages to join us. we may find it hard to rid our squad off warnocks dross. I think We should keep Kenny though good keeper at this level and i'd keep Varney and green. But no way is Diouf worth the figure his agent was talking about when he signed a 2 year deal, he has also come back in a poor condition listing to Brian's words be 4 yesterday's game, that to me showes a lack off respect to the manager and team mates.

Agree0 Disagree0

I could see that being true. It's not good news if it is though. Operating a one in one out policy is fine- as long as we are offloading your deadwood- Pugh, Brown, Drury, Varney ( despite his hat tick), Norris etc. we shouldn't be getting rid of Pearce. I know we need cash but we are trying to improve. Pearce cost money. I know he hasn't done great for us but he is young and can improve. We are already short of centre backs and he could be a good squad player. Why move a centre back on just to get another in when we are already short in that position? We all know the answer- absolutely no cash left for B McD.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that why Matt Smith didn't play too? I hope your right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pearce will be a leeds player 4 some time yet, more than good enough 4 our team, yet again another good cb not given a fair chance always the same with most leeds fans, I hope 4 his own good that its true as you would have 2 b a mug to wanna play 4 these personic fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

Diouf came back in poor condition? He had an infection in his shin, not much you can do about that, Stop jumping to conclusions, Diouf is our best player for keeping possession, drawing fouls and just generally annoying the opposition defense and crowd. Having Diouf and Byram out is a big reason I think why we haven't done well in Slovenia.

Agree5 Disagree0

He was injured

Agree0 Disagree0

To the 6th reply. finally someone with sense!

Really don't see why we would weaken our defence even further - Get rid of the deadwood first.
Pearce has time to improve - others have not and need to go first

Agree2 Disagree0

You can't say Pearce is more than good enough for our team, dives in, gets caught out of position, misjudged the flight of balls in the air, slow, can't pass, clumsy.

Agree2 Disagree0

Brian words Douif is doing a bit not a lot though. Did his fitness program say go out to Africa get pi$$d all the time then come back with a infection. because that's watt he has done. Stinks off not looking after himself as he was told to do listen Brian's words dose he sound impressed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Judging by some of the red tops reports I was just wondering where exactly diorfs little infection was?

Agree0 Disagree0

We dnt have any great cb, lees ain't the best and peltier ain't nor is pearce but 4 our budget they r the best we will get, kasper gorkks is old slow and by no way would he improve us as a team all the 3 we have are better by a lot tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we've consistently seen the best of Pearce yet; and unlike the majority of Warnock's journeymen signings, he is still young -and capable- enough to have potential to improve. I personally think he has plenty still to offer. Chapel A

Leeds are looking at Leroy Lita and Heidar Helguson who is currently a free agent

Believable5 Unbelievable72

I thought Lita signed for the Wednesday?

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't signed a contract yet, some problem with him getting compensation from Swansea but he has agreed terms and will sign when that is sorted. Leeds were in for him but he prefered Wednesday having played there last year

Agree0 Disagree0

Helgusson- wow, promotion here we come!

Agree2 Disagree0

Sure I read elsewhere Helguson had signed for a team in Iceland, as for Lita whoever gets him will get a useful player.
