Sky tv betting has suspended bets on new leeds manager, either they know who its going to be, Or they've had tht many bets they don't know whos to put as fav?
Believable15
Unbelievable2
There is plenty of chat saying it could be BMD but it could be that the odds were suspended because they have been up for quite a while now with no real look into who it could be. if anything is to happen, most of the time when odds are suspended, something is announced within two days. Hopefully Happy days, have a good one

Well I know it's not a lot to go on but McDermott isn't really odds on for any other job, where as Coyle is still linked with quite a few jobs.
No way at all will it be Poyet though, I've heard a few people say there's a £2.5m fee involved

Heard a rumour RDM wanted around 25-40k a week to manage leeds. And we all know we are not going to pay them kind of wages. So rule out any high profile manager coming to ER. I think the obvious and probably cheap option is McDermott being a free agent. IMO I think we need someone with more experience and someone who is popular within Leeds. David O Leary? Gary Mac another chance? Grayson? or the best option IMO Gus Poyet. But again, can we afford him?

"So rule out any high profile manager coming to ER"
Di Matteo is already on £40K a week from Chelsea for doing nothing whatsoever, so why is he going to forego that and then have to actually DO SOMETHING for less money?
Doesn't mean all the rest are earning that sort of money.
Agree0

The only one you've mentioned with more experience than McDermott is O'Leary, and we don't have anywhere near enough money for O'Leary to do anything with our squad.

Mcd has only had one managerial job at reading? Was only manager for just over a year too? All rest have had more than that.
Agree0

Gus has only had one proper managerial role. I would welcome Gus with open arms, but he has got good players at Brighton and still hasn't got them out of Championship yet, I know it is only there 2nd season, so yes they are doing well but even Gus has his drawbacks. Still my first choice though haha

Radebe should be given a call, would teach us how to defend properly. Very intellegent footballer, would be a great manager imo.

Basically, Leeds United board don't know what they are doing themselves let alone appoint a manager. The owners were in effect appointed by bates to sell the club on his behalf and in effect he wholesales it to them for them to break the chunks up and sell if for more money. I was in a board room at a club at an away game and sat with Shaun Harvey and Peter Lorimer. I can assure you I told them both what a shambles they had made of Leeds United. They have not invested in the team, their managerial appointments have been shambolic and they should hold their head in shame. I made the point to Shaun, when he argued that the managerial appointments were an extensive process. that name a manager of Leeds in the last 10 years that has gone onto another club only Grayson has and he got sacked from Huddersfield. They can't even attract a decent manager. Absolute joke. If I had been a little younger I would have leathered Shaun Harvey. I found him arrogant, cold and to be honest not very intelligent. Until Shaun Harvey goes. guys forget it we are doomed.

Apparently Danny Wilson has left Sheff Utd to take over. What do you think?

McD has had 3 managers jobs! Also this is the first time he's been out of work since he first took a managers job in '96!
Agree0

McDermott has had 3 managerial positions since 1996. This is also the first time since '96 that he has been out of work from football, as the years he wasn't a manager he was actually in a variety of positions at Reading.

So is that what you class as 'i heard a rumour' u read it the daily star

Gary Mac tried and failed and far less experienced than McDermott, same with Grayson. McDermott would be a great appointment compared to the rubbish you named. Next you'll be naming harry kewell haha

Woking and slough were the other clubs, he also spent 9 years as chief scout at reading before taking over as gaffer, during his playing career he played abroad twice as well as for arsenal so pretty experienced in football imo plus his 2 years in charge at reading were not half bad could be a revie or a sarge in the making its there if he wants it just hope adequate funds are too!

Apparrentl di matteo as turned down Leeds job as he is hoping for a bigger job offrr. I remembrr the times they was no job bigger than Leeds oh how times have changed. Come on sort it out Leeds give us Leeds fans something to cheer about fed up of all this uncertainty we need some flamboyant manager or will bring yhe passion bsck in our play and make Elland. Road a fortress again. oh for the glory days
Believable25

Is this really surprising though? We can live on 'ifs' and 'maybes' and 'what we deserve' but we'll only frustrate ourselves. The job is a big one but for all the wrong reasons. We need a manager that needs to prove himself in what is undoubtedly a tough job. The old adage 'poisoned chalice' gets used often and for good reason. Who ever they get in i'll be behind them and the lads to keep us in this league.

Leeds are having issues getting a new manager because of the unpredictability of the Championship this year. The managers we are targeting want to wait to make sure we are safe before commiting to a long term contract, they see it as a bit of a career suicide job if they sign and then Leeds go down as the fans will rightly want Leeds to push straight for automatic promotion if they are in league1 which will add lots of extra pressure and mean more chance of being sacked.

Daily snail reporting man city to offer 6 million up front and a further 4 million in ad ons for are SAM. So do you guys think gfh will take this and use the money as a bail out to steanthen or make a stand and say no? I for 1 feel very bitter that another great lad could be SOLD. Mot.

Neither. The will take the money and strengthen their company not our team.

Sam Byram would be foolish at this stage to move to a team like Man City since all he would do is sit on the bench and play in the early rounds of cup games. Too many young players are signed by the bigger clubs and then left to rot in the reserves thus ruining their careers. Look at the likes of Sinclair and the young kid who signed from Everton; there have been several players from Leeds who have been taken by bigger clubs and then discarded. Byram is a fantastic young player and if he is to move upwards then I hope that he at least goes to a club that will utilise him; a club such as Everton or Villa that aren't afraid to play young British players.
Agree0

If we were offered £6m with £4m add-ons I'm sure the offer would be accepted. It would be good business for GFH but career suicide for Sam unless there was a plan to loan him back.
Agree0

Sams the first followed by lees white dawson and any good youthfull player will be sold in the summer as we have no money no ambition and no hope owners its just like bates mark 2
Agree0

Id take that in a heartbeat

Who you negative man Bates did buy us when no one would touch us with a barge pole as for Sam would like him to stay but what would you do in his position? and 6 mill for our club good money if put back into pot for players
Agree0

If I were in Sam's shoes the last thing I would do is join City. If He wanted to play reserve team football for the next 4 years how's that going to help his future career?

Carl Putnam to buy out GFH, known for being rich & strange Putnam describes himself as a teenage stamp collector with a strange kind of love for all things leeds. Recently quoted saying "sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly" decisions at the club haven't been too impressive but oh no won't do. He wants to take leeds through the roof and has assured fans that the new manager will have dark hair because he's had it with blondes. Putnam also talks about his need to hurry and one great love for football, his admiration for the continental game and bringing a Spanish love song to ER.
Holy Moses here we go again, head long into some crazy scheme.

Rumour has it he wants to put "robinson crusoe up" front and "backdoor santa" in goal. apparently "oh no won't do" and it will be "magic" when carl puttnam gets us promoted. "once again" it will be "one giant love" affair with the premier league, there'll be no "slack time" and if I hear rumours of other managers i'll keep it "under my hat". roll out the "purple love balloon", as i'm "only (a prawn in whitby)"

After reading this it makes all the speculation look a bit silly now.
Chelsea are continuing to pay their ex-boss £40,000 a week under the terms of his contract, which has this season and next to run.
And Championship outfit Leeds, who sacked Neil Warnock last week, can only offer the Champions League-winning manager around £8,000 a week.
OK so who's next in the frame

Does that mean that if he got another job they would still have to pay him (a la Leeds with Fowler et al) or does it end when he gets a new job?
