Quite pleased with the signings we've made today. Good deal for Becchio and good choice to loan Habibou first. First time in a while that I have seen Leeds this active on deadline day. Very optimistic for the rest of the season and beyond. And don't forget the loan window opens soon so we may not be over yet.

So let's sum it up, gfh buy the club in Dec they then say they will provide the manager with the funds to strengthen the club in Jan, and for the fans to judge them then. ok let's look at this transfer window we free up wages by releasing players from there contracts so straight away there's money available fans think maybe this time they mean bussiness, ok players we brought in, becchio and morison simular players as in the way they play and ability, I don't care what you say they were desperate to offload morison simply because he's inury prone this season, he has spent more time on the physios table than on pitch, so sum that up we near enough swap our best player for an injury prone one good start. now Leeds fans are thinking ok still time for gfh to make a statement something to get the fans excited and open the chequebook what do we get a 30yr old who can't make it anywhere near a dodgy villa defence and who are also desperate to offload him why?, by this time fans are still hoping for the icing on the cake signing and what do we get, ok the best of the 3 well we hope, Warnock must also have his doubt hence the reason he's on loan he's no good we send him back, so there you have it gfh just like ken bates come out of a transfer window without spending money, selling there best player and also making a few quid, SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Sorry mate. Disagree.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Glad we ve not spent stupid money on poor players. January isn t a good time to do big business. Just to strengthen in areas of weakness.
Like other posters I think promotion is unlikely this season, but you never know. If we get on a good run now? Maybe the feel good factor from the FA cup will help.
For me I m pretty impressed with this transfer window.
Morrison. Good striker, good fee, fair wages, wants to play. Cost 2.8 million only 18 months ago.
Tonge. Solid.
Warnock. Played for England. Solid left back. Adds experience to back 4.
Barkley. Loan. Premiership standard.
Habibo. Exciting prospect, but good idea to liam him initially.
Hall. One for the future?
Bryam. Long term contract
Poleon. Long term contract.
I d say that's pretty good for a January.
Remember, after all the rumours, there were nt actually many we missed out on or many transactions.
Add to that the large amount of deadwood we ve got off the wages and a few youngsters gaining valuable experience, I think we re heading in the right direction (at last)

3 good in
Only 1 good out
Some of the structural issues addressed

Much better than previous deadlines (even if that's not a good comparison point. )

Admittedly no marquee signings which is disappointing. No real GFH investment which is also not quite what we expected.

I am resigned to us being Championship next year. but being smart about the signings and seeing some net positive action gives me a bit of hope.

It think today has been a good day. There's people moaning about signings and not getting a winger but Habibou play on the wing. Morrison will involve players more and is generally better for the team than becchio. Then you've got warnock a premier league LB what more do people want. And the two main point to come out of this is that we have spent nothing and all these player play passing football so hopefully not as much long ball. For those that say well no money has been spent. That because its most likely on wages and tbh I don't want to end up in the same position we have been for almost a decade so we have spent wisely. Now get behind the team and aim for promotion. Lets get our crowds back up and show the rest of the nation how passionate we are as fans and prove we can be a massive club again.

At least we're not in the situation like forest. We got 3 good cracking players 2day! Leeds 2 go on and storm the league!

31 Jan 2013 23:11:49
So, three new faces but we have more money than we started with. Potentially 3 good signings and ee should have money to spend on wages when the loan window opens. The likes of Boyd ans maybe available

Come on guys lets get it right. the correct name of our new chappie is ~ Mouhamadou Habib Habibou. Serious scrabble score but hope to hell my lad doesn't want his name on the back of his shirt! Welcome ladddie. Come and excite us. TeeCee

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Yep. what I liked about this is that he's seen as a lad with promise. and based on his media commentary. the guy was absolutely gagging to play for Leeds.

Hope this converts (for both him and us) into a long and successful career with the team. in a new dynasty in the Premier League.

Welcome Mouhamadou!

How long before rumours emerge that Wells, Boyd, Wright-Phillips et al are coming in on loan. Given the mad dog Townsend has gone to dodgy dealer 'Arry the latter might be right. TeeCee

Anyone else come to mind

Believable2 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2013 22:54:17
Not really a rumour but just a positive note.
happy with all the signings this window
would have liked a winger (still time)
but all in all i'm happy, we have 3 decent strikers and a solid midfield, just a shame about a pacey winger or 2.
Warnock is a nice left back to have and byram is doing well in RB.
Been a good transfer window in terms of incomings.
only outgoing has been replaced with someone who I see as a better player(morison for becchio)

Owners will be happy since we have not spent any money on transfers since morison was a swap, warnock on a free and habibou on loan.

So 3 players in and have made a profit. {Ed013's Note - Good for you mate}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Spot on. and a fair few barnacle wages lost too to free up some dressing room pegs. TeeCee

So lets have a look at this window closely,

1. No money spent again
2. No winger (which according to Mr W was a priority)
3. No sit up and take notice signing (which again we lead to belive)

Well Mr W you said for us all to judge you on the 1st Feb? Not looking good from where I'm sitting.

Different day same old excuses, has Ken really sold the club, it doesn't look that way, very disappointed {Ed013's Note - Mate, if it stays like this i have to agree with you, although lets judge in the coming weeks}

As it stands the squad is stronger than this morning, FFS give them a chance, how many promotions have you had, we can compete with anyone in this league now,

Agree8 Disagree2

I understand and feel the frustration of not fulfilling these stated goals, but is it not positive that three players who should be more than warm bodies have come to the club?

I would prefer to pay for a Lexus, but I would accept it if I got a Jeep for free.

The real proof of the value in this window will be on the pitch. To be honest, I am an American who is not used to the way the transfer window works, so if I am off base, please let me know.

Agree2 Disagree0

We need to beat anyone in the league not compete with them?

Agree1 Disagree1

Lot stronger without a guy who has scored 19 goals in half a season? Just like every other window. These guys definately have no money. Burke too expsensive at 500,000 are you having a laugh. He is exactly the sort of creative player we are lacking.

Do we all think it will be a wonderful world of Haribo?! Could have done with a quality winger. Haven't spent any cash really. 2 and a half year deal for S Warnock at 31 is a joke- far too long, even though he is good player. Would have preferred to have and cash for Beccs if I'm honest. Think we have not got value with Morison. He is not worth £2.8 mill surely.

I don't want to keep been negative but another loan?

These guys have no money I'm sorry but we are a few points of the playoffs if they had money a few million on young talent now and big money when we know who will be our manager at the end of the season surely?

Not the case bates like transfers and profit for the club again I'm sick of hoping something good will happen.

Good luck to the new lads I hope I'm wrong but I think not for me a bunch of hopers trying to make the big bucks by getting to the prem.

Those days have gone to much money spent in the championship now the prize is so BIG.

Agree, well still have the moaners and groaners in the morning though, whoever we had brought in, well pleased this window, have a fighting chance of play offs now.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

31 Jan 2013 21:15:42
We require 3 more quality signings in attacking positions in the next 90 minutes otherwise our season is over! We needed a LB (done) a striker to put pressure on Becchio (since he's gone that means a striker to put pressure on Morison that's NW own words) a winger and a midfield playmaker. 3 in 90 minutes that's one every half hour. Thanks GFH!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Worth reminding people that morison will have to displace rosco who looks like he is hitting form. more hacked with the notion that we have been had by the budgie shaggers only getting. 25 mill + morison for LB. Thank heavens for undisclosed fees eh gfh [bates].

Posted exactly whas below last night and got a load of disagrees. Lets have a vote now with only a few hours to go:

Well tomorrow is the deadline and I see the OS is full of news about transfers in!. Watch it on Friday for all the usual drivel about unrealistic wage demands, players having their heads turned by agents, and of course, our most recent excuse, the financial fair play rules. Bates is still there pulling the strings. Nothing has changed. All of you who think GFH are playing it smart by not investing while Warnock is in charge are deluded I'm afraid. By the way I really hope I'm wrong!

Believable4 Unbelievable7

I think your very right. No monies spent yet again.

Agree1 Disagree1

Made 2 very good signings, not complaining too much, still time yet

Agree1 Disagree1

So. GFH have proven to be an asset management company with limited appetite for true investment this year. if they have the balls and resources to invest in the long term.

I like the Morrison & cash and the Warnock deals. but we didn't land a humdinger of a signing to push us up into the play-off for promotion. net we're up 1 defensive player and some small amount of cash which we can't spend.

This is not what we were expecting from the new owners.

Lesson Learned: Just because it says "Made in the Middle East" on the label, doesn't mean it comes with scads of cash to throw at Football.

[Sigh]

Agree1 Disagree0

Well even if GFH don't put there own money in, at least they put money in from player sales, which is a dam sight more than what Batesy used to put in. And lets be honest, its there first transfer window. At this stage you cannot call them asset strippers like Wizard White Breard was.

Well, as I write at 6:50 so far a very good day I think. We've swapped a striker with no Premiership experience for one with 10 premiership goals and got some money in. We've also signed a left back who played 34 games in the Premier League last season.

If we could sneak one or two more in (hopefully one surprise) then this would be the best window we've had in terms of transfers for a long time.

Do not bother yourself, definately donĀ“t get worked up, the four they have signed at best three of them are low end premier league, howson perhaps has some potential. Am I the only one who thinks this transfer window will end in us making a profit/breaking evens out of another transfer window?

It wouldn't shock me if we sign 1 more loan player and that's it because I can't find any reliable links and the players we're linked to seem to me unrealistic.

Warnock is on 40k a week, Becchio was on 15k and was our highest earner so we're looking at a big gap in wages and it just doesn't look realistic.

Matt Phillips seems the most unrealistic out of the lot, Blackpool turned down a 5m bid from Southampton and we have no where near that amount so dream on.

Phil Hay seems to know very little, he got everyones hopes up about players like Gradel who are on 20k a week and would cost 3m+ in fee's just seemed another unrealistic target. St Etienne even said they've heard nothing from LUFC so all them rumours were wide of the mark.

Sorry about been downbeat, I just haven't seen anything from GFH to make me feel like we're going to sign someone that will make us jump out of our seats.

I hope by tonight I'm proven wrong and we have 2 more decent players in but I won't be holding my breathe or getting my hopes up.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Warnock is on £40k a week but is coming to end of his contract. Do you honestly think Villa would offer him another contract at £40k a week, I think not. Perhaps £15k to £20k a week.

We may offer him something similar, possibly nearer £15k but with guarantee of first team football.

Here's a thought - though he's obviously not scored in the Premiership, does Luciano Becchio go straight to the top of the scorers table in the Prem? Lets look at it in black and white - ignoring the players ability. On paper we sold our leading goal scorer and replaced him with a striker who is currently coming back from injury. 1 in 1 out. it means we haven't added to the squad in terms of numbers. hmm. I believe the warnock transfer is still on so that would be a welcomed addition defensively. However apart from on this site I have heard much in the way of being linked with a winger/attacking player. Too quite. oh well 9 hours to go. 3 1/2 year deal for 29yr old? umm I know some on here are happy with the Becchio/Morison deal. But personally think it's rubbish! {Ed013's Note - Give him a chance mate}

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Football is all about opinions, so I value the fact that you have one, but your wrong lol. Becchio was also 29yrs, and would have signed a 3. 5yr deal, so in this respect Morison is no different. Morrisons goal scoring record in the Championship is very good. I think he's a more mobile player than Becchio. I have had a season ticket for many years and watched Becchio many times, he has little pace, can't control a moving ball, can't pass, and is ineffective anywhere but 6yrds from goal. So the fact we have got a better striker on a long term deal, plus cash is a good deal for Leeds.

Agree12 Disagree3

He's the same age as Becchio. What's the problem?

Agree7 Disagree1

We offered Becchio, who is also 29, a 3. 5 year deal on considerably more money than any other player at the club.
I like Luciano, but I think we ve sold him at his top market value. I m actually very surprised a premiership team wanted him. They can t have watched him play too often, but those 19 goal stats mean he s worth about 3 million apparently.
Baring in mind Morrison, a pretty prolific scorer in his career, was bought by Leeds Reserves for 2. 8 million only 18 months ago. I m chuffed to bits we ve got 1 million cash plus a better player of the same age on considerably less money, about 13k apparently.
I d say that was a fabulous piece of business.
Bisto kid

Agree7 Disagree4

To the second poster. Couldn't agree more Pal. Becchio has been a star for Leeds, but we & he needed a change. Like you I have seen Becchio blossom, work his socks off and score plenty of important goals. However, if we don't play to his style he is a passenger in the game. Morison is a tall mobile forward who hopefully will work hard with Mac. I'd rather have these two scoring 20 goals a season then relying on Bechio putting in 20.

All this speculation going on about who we are getting and who is leaving really doesn't matter that much, what is important is that we have players who really want to be here, I am sick and tired of player after player making there mark at Leeds, thinking they are better than they are and then putting the club to ransom with ridiculous wage demands. Think about it, Howson, Johnson, Snodgrass and now Becchio, come on these guys have no loyalty it is all about money nothing else, apart from snodgrass now and again when was the last time you heard Johnson or howson's name being mentioned, Becchio will disappear into the oblivion, of course he will he is not Premier standard, Houghton must be crazy. I really am optimistic about the team, NW will only have players who give 100% we see this every week, OK some games when Becchio plays we are awful, Yes I am going on again about the long ball game but I know I am right, Morrison is a work horse never gives the defence a minute, just think about the players we have who battle and play nice football when the ball is on the floor. The Cardiff game is a massive game in our season everyone expects us not to win the game because of our record against them, but I really do feel Cardiff are in for a real shock, this Leeds team Saturday will play the passing game and keep the ball, we will match Cardiff all over the field. All you people who continually slate the new owners and NW (why I just do not know) be patient and positive, there is a lot of football to be played yet and there is no better ball playing team than us in this division. Oh I forgot to mention is there a better forward line combination than Duiof, McCormack, Somma and maybe Morrison in this league? let me know if there is. I say well done to NW and the new owners for not getting drawn in to silly wage demands from average players, what ever we get for Becchio is a bonus trust me. Kevin Leeds 50 years

Tomorrow never comes for Leeds fans. "Icing on the cake" ha, yeah. .probably never heard of this particular icing . . .probably more like gravy on the cake.

I like gravy. . In fact I think I prefer gravy to icing.

I prefer gravy on my roast dinner but like a bit of icing on my cake. Crazy but true.

If bechio goes to our feeder club, and morison comes the other way, we will have swapped striker for striker so no real business done there so hoping warnock keeps his promise of 2 to 3 players coming in not just a swap striker deal, just a thought but morison must be on crap wages at Norwich, to come to us on even less .

I'm a big fan of curry sauce if anyone's got any?

Is it gravy with mushrooms and onion?
If so I ll take that over icing wether on roast dinner or cake. .

Not a rumour and "Supposed sources", just an opinion but due to West Ham having Carol, Cole and now Chamakh I think Vaz Te would be a good shout! Looks likely that Morrison will be our new target man, good strong hard working player that is Warnocks style of player but Vaz Te would offer us something different. Also, I know it is not likely to happen but CMS I think would be a better option than Morrison.
