Grayson is a league one promotion specialist, we need to be looking at next level

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a silly comment. he never got chance in championship. we are in this league thanks to Grayson and with out any shadow of a doubt our best football since promotion has been with his teams. with backing grayson would of got us in prem. becchio, howson, snodgrass, beckford, schimcle, gradel, johnson if bates had kept these we would of gone up. Can't say grayson is limited as a manager when his team was limited by bates. at the very least he is worth another shot or worth our gratitued and respect

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree re Grayson, our first season in the Championship he did really well & who knows with the right backing we may be in the Premiership by now. Very short-sighted by Bates not to back him that season. We only needed a few players to add to Becchio, Snodgrass, Gradel etc. Who know's?

Watford head coach Beppe Sannino resigns after 9 months in job. Our new head coach perhaps?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sounds feasible. Why else would he resign? Things are going well at Watford and no rumours of any problems

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently lost the support of his squad, senior players weren't happy with his techniques

Agree0 Disagree0

He was have huge problems in the dressing rooms. The players almost did a walk out before the game against us last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard he resigned as he was angry that it was never his domlimo day

I know it's a backward step. but Larry wasn't our worst. Much as I would like to see a 'bigger name' step in, I doubt there are very few that would take the job as a 'coach'. so out of a bad bunch and with a bit of money, Larry will do ok. My only concern was the reports of him losing the dressing room and 'respect' from the players during his final weeks of his last stint in charge.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Grayson was the best we've had in a very long time. Would welcome him back, jut don't see him being able to work under MC, or lasting that long with Cellino's trigger finger prone to twitching.

Watfords Itailian coach just resigned - Beppe Sannino anyone?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seems a good shout to me

Agree0 Disagree0

If he took the job he would be home in Italy for Christmas! (so would anybody else to be fair).

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 20:20:37
Beppe Sannino has just quit as watford head coach. He's Italian and fits the bill.

Why quit when you are 2nd in the league and won 4 out of 5.

Seems a bit of a coincidence if you ask me.

Coincidence my opinion. Reports say he was a fractious figure in the dressing room.

Del Fabro makes that 14 summer signings. I understand Montenegro deal will complete in the morning as number 15 with strong rumors going around about Danny Graham. That would be 16. No way could there be another addition given Cellino's aversion to the next number up. Bye bye Norris Austin Hunt Morison for sure on Monday but I'd add Murphy Tonge and Poleon to that list too. Guessing they'll receive 55% of their contracts paid up to clear off. I can see Smith and Byram staying until the January window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope Norris Austin Hunt Morison Tonge and Kenny are gone tomorrow but would keep Murphy. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Did we resing Kenny?
Also IF Murphy don't pull his socks up he should be next on the list IMO.

Hi Ed was Austin injured or banned against Bolton, or was he just dropped? Hope he was just dropped he is a headless chicken who dives in for tackles and shoots from anywhere within 40 yards. This guy needs to go and i'm hoping Neil Warnock has a double swoop for him and Hunt, we can dream.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Some say a slight niggle, but I think he was dropped}

Why would warnock want hunt?

I know one swallow doesn't make a summer but I was really encouraged yesterday. Second half was a bit scary but there were a lot of positives. At last the midfield is looking good. With Cook, Mowatt, Sloth and Bianchi, who I think is getting better every game, we had a bit of movement and flair and good passing. To come in we now have Adryan, Benedicic and I would keep Murphy. I would get rid of Austin, Norris and Tonge they are now surplus. In attack Sharp ran his socks off and Antellucic showed some good touches. This team has been thrown together and will need a few weeks to gel but I can only see it getting very stronger. We just need a top defender and we are off.

What would people think of neil Lennon? Not saying it would happen but just interested what people would think

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Been away for a while good to be back
Leeds Surrey I for one would like to give Lennon a go although I am up for Steve Clark
Not sure whether Lennon would fit the mould for mc

Think Simon Grayson and you will be nearer the mark

Grayson or Clark would be welcome I think Lennon would be a risk? MOT

Possibly a controversial opinion but after watching yesterday performance it continues to be clear that Pearce is a liability in the centre of defence. I validate this through the two chances Bolton created in the first half. With the first chance the forward gave Pearce a 5 yard start before hitting the bar. The second chance was during the challenge between the forward and Bellusci, the striker got a foot to ball to knock it on and Pearce was ball watching/slow to react. It also pains me to say that with the style of play yesterday it is difficult to see how Smith can fit in other than an option if we are chasing the game, even then our style will suit more mobile strikers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think Pearce and Cooper should swap, also reckon Bellusci could be captain material, seems like a leader. Regarding Smith I think it's too early to tell because our new coach might implement him into our game. However Smith has the best aerial ability in the league and that shouldn't be taken for granted, very unique to get a striker like him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly I agree, this because I like pearce as a player, I think he gives everything and is always fully committed. But with the new players coming in you can begin to see a gulf in class emerging between the players we had the remnants of the old squad full of colin/mcdermott signings. Pearce was out muscled on numerous occasions by the bolton cf and has a distinct lack of pace, he often gets found out and I feel opposition teams will target him as our weakness. This will undermine our advance towards the play offs.
Like I said, cannot be faulted on his attitude and if he is to be shipped out I hope he is treated with decency because he has been one of the few players I have admired down to his pure commitment amongst a shower of half arsed journeymen, a true pro.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree on Bellusci, I said something similar yesterday. I like Pearce as he obv cares and does try but I just don't think he's quite good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Procedentes, how come you get away with saying arsed? I hope this is a simple oversight by our usually thorough eds? Before we know it, we'll have people saying White is s**te and the least said about Hoel Hunt the better!

Defo something in this Smith and Byram to go story.
Looks like MC wants a bit more pay back.
Just look at the size of the squad it's just top heavy.
Two more in and I would like a bet 7 out on Monday.
Must be the night of the long knife.
The only way we can get rid of most including Hunt, Pearce, Austin and more is by contributing towards their contraced wages.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 14:28:17
Hi people not a leeds post but with international break coming I thought I would ask, if it was a Great Britain squad, which non english players would you include? Ramsey and bale are obvious ones but anyone else? Maybe Naismith of Everton would make the squad?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

On current form I'd like to think Ashley Williams would get in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 14:15:52
So who's going before the deadline tomorrow? Anyone like to hazard a guess on who will be out? I personally don't think we can shift many unless there is a settlement to cancel contracts! Too many sitting on their backsides, taking the money. I don't think we should lose Smith as I think ha has much more to give and with the right coach can prove to be a real asset.

On another note, two weeks to get some real work done and come out the other side looking like we can take on the world. ok compete and string some class results together. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 13:44:45
Apologies to all for being vague on the Maguire rumour, realise how it could be precieved as a swap deal. Don't think we could match his wages, anyhow. I have it on good authority that the blunts have enquired abot the availability of Pearce. There were strong rumours that they wanted Hunt but Clough was asked live on the radio and said "He's only played 3 full games in 2 years, so no we will not be signing him". Think we could be stuck with him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2014 12:52:31
I know he's signed for Hull. I am educated thanks Ed013. But the rumour that is circulating is, Bruce does not think he is up to speed regarxing premisrship and would benefit from championship football. This is l over sheff utd rumours and have talked to fans who believe this and were asking about Pearce. The Pearce side could be a possibility.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - There is no need to explain, whether or not you knew if he was at Hull, the rumour sounded like a swap deal. It is OK to make mistakes and not everyone is fixated on every single transfer that goes on and may miss things}

31 Aug 2014 12:26:47
I think Redders knows what we all know, in that if he took the main man role and I believe he would do a great job, then it would leave him vulnerable to the sheriffs bullet if he hit a sticky patch and he is too good in his role as youth coach to lose the job and the club he obviously Loves MOT

Silly season is about to begin with plenty of wacky rumours floating about from now until tomorrow when the transfer window closes. Good luck eds!

I'm quite happy with the players we've brought in so far. Looking forward to seeing Adryan play. Could be the new Junninho (remember him at Boro?). I think we have a strong squad but could maybe do with another winger. I would have liked to see us sign Aggard but you don't keep the Don waiting!

On outgoings, I would expect a bit of movement but hope we keep Smith. I can't see the sense of selling a proven championship scorer who will only improve with age for £1.4m especially if it's Fulham. They should be quoted £10m haha.

Just a theory on the recent vacancy and clubs state of affairs.

The Hock was brought in to coach the side as MC built the squad (releasing and bringing in players) to what he thought would be required to contend in this league. As a tactician and game day coach probably out of his depth, but as a week time (fitness) coach, probably suited to the job to get the players fit and ready. This would also be supported by the low salary this guy was brought in on (£90k a year, rumoured)

Now the squad is pretty much set, and just before the transfer window mind you, the Hock is relieved of duties and a more experienced coach will be brought in to galvanise the players and push for the seasons target. Yes we had only won 1 out of 4 in the league and got knocked out to Bradford, but form was the gamble MC took.

What I don't think MC counted on was the poor discipline instilled by the coach and the flux of injuries at the club, which could be put down to the coaching.

I know we can still sign players for a few weeks (I think on loan only) but I don't see many additions after Del Fabro and Montenegro (rumoured).

We now have the international break, which if a coach is brought in sooner than later, would allow a good amount of time to works with the majority of the squad.

Its all a bit tidy is all. th

Believable0 Unbelievable0

£90k a year for a fitness trainer, low salary?, how many season tickets to pay for that?.

Agree0 Disagree0

Frankly I don't know, but how much would an experienced head coach cost? How may season tickets?

The point I was trying to make was that he wasn't brought in as a head coach and was a glorified fitness coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think cellino was serious about hockaday being the head coach, but realised soon it wouldn't work, we have conditioning and fitness coaches he wouldn't bring in hockaday just for that. He was hoping that on the off chance results would go our way and hockaday would be a success, as he's previously said he's a 'dreamer'

Agree0 Disagree0

Hockaday was a cheap seat warmer some one easy to sack while players and mc bed and get use. I think mc never planned on holding onto hock for long, the appointment didn't make sense on any level other than to warm while the right man comes in

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2014 11:21:00
So the Hock has gone and a new chapter begins.
Frankly speaking I would like Steve Clarke or Gary Mac as the next coach in. Pulis would be great but I don't think the relationship would work with MC.

The purpose of this post is to point out that Redders has taken over the club on 2 occasions (noticeable recently) an in both cases he has changed the squad to bring the youngers players through. The first time round it was Mowatt and Dawson I think, and this time Cook and Mowatt, with Taylor on the bench.

I know we have injuries and the red cards, which have probably forced his had a little but surely this should be the way forward. Not just sign more players to sit around the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry D.S. but McDermot brought in Mowatt for the league cup tie against Doncaster last year and Warnock bought in Dawson for the league game against Derby a couple of seasons ago

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess it more noticeable with Redders.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Because the said person you was speaking about is no longer on the site}

31 Aug 2014 10:33:45
Redfearn should should stay with the youngsters. He is excellent there bringing on a host of quality youngsters He would only get the sack at some point as head coach and there would be no going back to the academy. It doesn't work like that. Plus who would be in charge of the academy if he was head coach and what would happen to them if he came back? Plus his credibililty and reputation would be tarnished if he was labelled as a coaching failure with the big boys. Stay where you are Redders we can't afford to lose you in the nursery.

31 Aug 2014 07:31:08
So happy we snared Adryan. Told all you guys he would arrive right after Hock was gone. I believe he will be a big hit at ER. Surely on Monday we will see several players leave or go out on loan the following week or have their contracts paid up. We all know who they are. You know once we get Doukara back we might actually have a serious team. Could do with one more pacey winger. A Max of 3 years ago would be ideal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree the Adryan deal is very encouraging 👍

I wonder if Cellino has heard of John Sheridan. I'd like him to be in the running for head coach also. Boy could that fella pass and take a free-kick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes he could, but he was also sacked as manager of Chesterfield when he took them to the bottom of Division Two. Another guy who was far better as a player than a manager…….

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds fan from chesterfield, he's was sacked after getting promotion from league 2 and the following season the board sold there top 2 strikers and didn't spend any money bringing new players in. he also won the st Johnstone cup playing proper football. against di canio, s Swindon but for me I would keep redders think mc just wants to be a puppet master and the money he, s Spengler that's fine by me. for now. Please guys let's not has redders in charge, he's a fantastic youth coach but he's tried this job before and it's not worked for him or us, yes we won today but on another day we could have easily lost. Let him stay and do whT he is great at, coaching the youth lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with you tigerman. NR doing great job with the youth teams. We don't want to lose him. MC has to make the right appointment to harness the talent at the club. Think there will be plenty of interest for the job. Whp wouldn't want the opportunity of being a hero and leading the mighty Leeds back where they belong. Worst that can happen is the sack with a pay off! We all want the same thing. Leeds playing gpod football and back in PL. Keep the faith. MOT.
