Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

17 Jan 2012 22:36:19
I read the leeds posts most days on this site during my journey to and from work, but rarely get the chance to sit down and write my own views.

I'm fed up with the anit grayson comments and the small minded people who think he should be sacked despite the amazing job he has done considering the budget avaiablo to him, and the fact that our club is no longer as attractive to potential signinings at it once was. People need to be more realistic and realise that we are not the same club as 10 years ago, we are no bigger or better then any other championship team. We may have a bigger stadium and perhaps a bigger fan base then a lot of our promotion rivals, but this does not mean everyone player wants to sign for us. What you need to realise is that is very difficult for Grayson to find players who are willing to take the risk and join leeds. If you look back over the last decade, we've been a very unstable team and its no surprise to me that players don't want to join us. I believe grayson when he says he has tried to sign players, i just wish the rest of our fans would think before shouting the poor guy down.

As a leeds fan i'm also dissapointed with some people for their constant anit bates rants, the guy saved our club and has made sure we are financially sound, which compared to a lot of club is brilliant. I don't think football clubs can go on wasting money like they have been over recent years. therefore we are ahead of the game by being careful and no putting ourselves in a stupid postition. We did it once before and look what happened, do you really want the same thing to happen again? No you don't, so keep on as you are Mr Bates.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Well said!!

Agree1 Disagree3

Good post, but totally annoyed that all fans who speak up regarding Bates or Grayson are considered morons, jokers, armchair supporters or imaginary football managers on computers.

I go to the game with several others week in week out, we share the opinion that Grayson is not the man to take us forward - we respect what he has done for the club but we all have a vision as fans and that is to be competing with the very best in England every week. So please lay off the insults, we accept Grayson is a Leeds fan which we all appreciate, however we are in pursuit of bigger things that Grayson can't deliver -

Agree2 Disagree0

Is Anit Bates related to Anit Grayson? Sorry mate if you have not posted before why not try putting up something thought provoking and original? Not just yeay another slant on the same old boring "SG has got to be given a chance as he has had no money to spend etc. etc.". The majority of managers in England also have no money (look at Paul Lambert last season), yet manage to get a side playing good football. SG has had long enough to make a difference and has palpably failed. Just look at the goals for and against over this period! Nice guy, time to say goodbye.

Rubbish all i need to say

All the idiots slagging Grayson need to wake up and look at the bigger picture. I'll explain.

On Friday night, at a "Leeds on the Road" event , Peter Lorimer is reputed to have said that a deal to bring Fabian Delph back on loan was very near. Today it has become apparent that we haven't even spoken to Villa regarding this!

I've seen many people slating Simon Grayson's comments about Delph on the Official Site. What do you expect him to say? I bet he can't believe the situation himself!

There is no doubt that as a player Peter Lorimer is a club legend. But he has done everyone connected with the club a huge disservice saying what he did the other night. Why would he do that? A cynical ploy to sell Season Tickets perhaps?

I must stress I've never been one to constantly harp on about Bates and the general running of the club, but this latest development has left a very nasty taste. Even I am now losing faith - but those taking SG apart are aiming for the wrong target.

Oh, by the way, who was it who first claimed that Smith HAD to go to Scum blah blah etc etc. That's right - Peter Lorimer.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

I agree with your comment but still feel SG is not capable of getting us promoted just look at his signings.

Agree3 Disagree4

He makes his signings on a tiny budget.

Agree2 Disagree2

So do 90% of managers in this division

Agree1 Disagree1

His budget is in the top five in the division and we are 11th! Look what Keith Hill has acheived at Barnsley. He really does have a tiny budget and small squad. SG has wasted his on poor signings! SG's signings, I rest my case:-

£7million redeveloping the East Stand that we can't fill, yet the team it self is amass with freebies and loanies,Bates shows no intention of buying players or paying decent wages and is happy for the transfer trend to continue, promotion at the present is seasons away while Bates continues his Put up and shut up with fans and managerial staff alike.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Shut up you idiot! Bates simply doesn't want to waste money on players we don't need. If the right people come along he will spend, it they don't he want. What's wrong with gettijng people on the cheap or for free? it make good business sense. Regarding the 7m redevelopment, have you ever heard of planning for the future? When we do make it back to the prem, bates wants to make sure we can cash in on the new revenues, i.g the so called fans who will emerge from the woodwork.

Agree2 Disagree3

We couldnt fill it b4 the renovations ffs

Agree3 Disagree1

Didn't Bates say the bank loaned the money to build that development. The banks will invest in buildings, they won't invest in players.

Agree3 Disagree1

I'll tell you what's wrong with getting players cheap and free, try 11th in the table on the slide down it and showing no form to get out of it, and you call me an idiot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone heard of long term business strategy and planning? The trouble with Leeds as a city is its fickle fans. It has always been the same. Just read "The Unforgiven" and see for yourself the indifference and desire for instant success that makes up the DNA of the average local fans.

Being a Leeds fan is much, much more than following a football team. It is a way of life and part of your soul. We have no God given right to prosper, just a long suffering propensity to suffer. Whoever is manager deserves a period of grace, but realism has to come to the fore eventually and at the moment we are in a trough of letent despair. Its what being Leeds is all about - enjoy it if you can!

Agree0 Disagree0

Plan for the future is that a joke were going no where with bates in charge especially now where selling howson

Agree0 Disagree0

Who posted shut up you idiot, we've just sold Howson, now let's have a think were will the money be invested. Yes you've got it ,Not on the team,Ken can refurbish a bit more of the ground." BRILLIANT."

If Grayson delivers the goods, I'll deliver the praise.
If Bates stops fleecing us, I'll stop sla**ing him off.
If the team play well, I'll pay my respects.
But if you try and tell me how I should act about the team I love or tell me, it's either this way or that way with no in-between.
I'll tell you to DO ONE!
Coz I'm Leeds and Proud.
I'm an arrogant Yorkshire sod, who believes we're the greatest team in the land and if you don't like what I'm saying then tough t!tt!es, Coz I've got a point of view and i'll say it & the fact that we're so opinionated and we don't give a flying bout what anyone else thinks is what i believe make us the greatest fans in the land.
I might not agree with everything or owt that you say but we're all family n I love you all.

Ooh err missus, what a fit of pique, "best team in the land"? presently not even the best team in Yorkshire, wake up and smell the concrete that at this present rate of going will cove ER before too much longer

Agree1 Disagree2

Unfortunately i have to disagree! A true Leeds fan will support his club, believe in his manager and praise his players no matter what.

As for the chairman, you don't have to like him, but you should show some respect and be open to what he is trying to achieve. Mr Bates may not be a money spinning billionaire spending money left right and centre, but at least he's show his commitment by sticking with the club. If he was going to do a quick turn around and sale on job, he would have sold us when we got promoted from league one. He's here for the
long run.

grayson not going anywhere anytime soon as he has cum out and admitted his interest in delph and a couple more ! for me im glad if half the people put as much effort in to support and love the club as they do to say get rid of grayson all the time elland road wud be a better place we r one of if not the best supported club in the country so lets not start turning backs on them. encouragement is the key mot 4 life!! no matter wat !

Believable4 Unbelievable4

H enever actually said he was interested in delph just said he is available and would fit the bill.

Agree4 Disagree0

Worrying familiar sound coming out of Elland Road,'we know what players we want and are prepared to wait for them' along with yes Delph is the right kind of player we want to be linked with...LINKED WITH!what use is that,he said the same about smith, woodgate and bowyer in the summer, not that i wantyed either of them 3 back,it's the way sg goes about it and the way he talks around transfer time that frustrates the hell out of fans...what happens when the ones he is prepared to wait for never materialise...oh i know the answer to that one,,'there are some very good players available in the emergency loan market'..sound familiar??

Agree7 Disagree0

Hot on the heels of the famous '1 or 2 in before the weekend' its the 'won't bring in players for the sake of it' script. Soon to be followed by the 'player's phone switched off' and all the other excuses under the sun before we start counting 93 days back from the irrelevant play-off final and sign a whole host of rubbish that are clearly no better than what we've got and are dropped after a couple of games, all whilst we brag about how many players we told to go and take a running jump to for daring to negotiate terms

Agree6 Disagree0

Good point made above - Groundhog day is nearly upon with the famous "we were so close to signing 1-2 premiership players" if we were so close name them, show us your ambition of what players we negotiating with - it won't hurt to name players if we didn't do the deal eh..?

All you Simon Grayson haters, or armchair fans that want him gone or think he has gone, have a look on the official site. He has spoken up and says we arnt rushing into the transfer market as we only want players that will come in and make a difference.
We all want promotion and we all want better players but I imagine things arnt as easy as going to the shop and buying a pint of milk.
We must come together and get behind the team as all this bitching is not good for the team. I am as frustrated as the next person, but I have done my bit to support my team and renewed my season ticket. Yes things arnt great and we would love some honesty about realistic ambitions, but it could be worse, we could be Notts Forest in relegation, but we arnt, we are a point off the playoffs with alot of games to go.

Keep the faith

MOT

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Grayson has never rushed in the transfer market, it took him all summer to come up with the fabulous Michael Brown, His pre season buying??and delving into the loan market

Agree1 Disagree1

SG adamant to bring in players who can make an immediate impact.... So he has bought Robbie Rodgers on a FREE, but now were waiting for a work permit to be issued?

I think he should go as he can't bring the club forward anymore. He has done well for the 3 years he has had at the helm, but we need a fresh new approach and someone who can be a wheeler dealer in the transfer market.

Agree1 Disagree1

Grayson says that every window and we either end up with garbage or nobody you watch, come deadline day he will say " we had a number of players we wanted at the club but for one reason or another we just couldn't get them", same old story.

Agree2 Disagree1

He says it all the time. players who will come in and make a difference, like a Welsh league winger and a Newcastle/Norwich reject.

Leeds need a DM and one of the most under-rated players in that position in the league is Guy Moussi at Forest. hasnt been as good as last season but i think its fair to say not oner of the forest playeers have.

very good player at doing the defensive midfielder role. isnt a freebie and would cost so it's only a dream i guess...

Looks like talks have broken down with Adam Clayton his contract only has 18 months left and the club and Clayton cannot agree terms already, looks like another one going to pastures new without the money coming back into the team, how many times has this got to happen before we start to give the better quality players the money they are after, we cannot afford to keep loosing our best talent to our rivals it's getting way beyond a joke, I think Bates bought Leeds because he always hated us and by owing the club he can destroy us even more from within.
source News now web.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Unless you were in the contract talks there is nothing to suggest this is money led. I would think that, like Howson, White, Snodgrass and Beckford and Johnson before them, Clayton probably has ambition to play at the highest possible league. If we were worrying the promotion spots. I would have no doubt that it would be easier to make people sign, problem is though we're not and are showing no signs of doing so. If an agent is whispering down your ear that premier league teams are interested would you sign a new contract with a team who are mid table a league below?

Agree3 Disagree1

At least we'll have his weekly wages back in the pot...

Agree0 Disagree2

If he'd wanted to do that, surely he would've made sure we DIDN'T get the share when we came out of administration.

Agree1 Disagree0

True, why bother playing well to get Leeds into the promotion spots when you can have it all straight away sitting on the bench for a Premier League contract. shows just the type we attract.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2012 11:55:16
Looks like Clayton is another who is not going to sign a new contract so we might as well get some decent money for him. We have to face facts that we do not pay enough to keep our best players or to attract others. I know we were stupid under Ridsdale but Bates will use that excuse all the time so long as he doesnn't have to fork out cash. What we should be doing is managing resources effectively and having a pay scheme that rewards players who have performed well instead of coming up against a salary cap that applies to every player good or bad. That isn't being financially irresponsible it's just good management!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2012 11:51:42
So talks av broke dwn with clayton well done masterbates that's another good player where prob going to lose for nothing u tosser

Think a lot of the problem at ER is the expectatition, TBH i was expecting last year that Leeds consolidate in the league and then this year push on towards the top half of the table. But doing so well last year people want an improvement. Yes every supporter wants showboat signings every transfer window but i dont think thats gonna happen at ER this January. I would be happy with Delph and a couple of defenders arriving this month. And what happens if we do go up ? What position would we achieve without MAJOR investment I probably like a lot of fans remember Milan,Lazio Etc Etc at ER and it wasnt that long ago but i am afraid the club is a long way from getting there again. Whats the answer ? Appoint an irishman as manager ,play the kids and have a chairman who spends money like theres no tomorrow !! Dont think so Stick together,Back the Team and a manager who loves the club ( how many other clubs can say that ) MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Problem is though. When a chairman and manager both say that the target for the season is promotion anything less is not going to be seen as good enough by the fans. I personally am not bothered by signings, if they come they come if they don't they don't. What i do want to see is any players at leeds playing to their full potential. Unfortunately, I don't see that at the minute.

Agree4 Disagree0

Second post is spot on here. There are too many players at the club not meeting their potential. We have the players to take us up, but the players dont have the passion, the defence dont have the discipline, and now our strikeforce has dried up, we really dont look like much of a force. I like Grayson, but if he can't see that something in the coaching is going catastrophically wrong, is he really the right person to take us forward?

We can buy in who we want, I honestly think it'll make little difference without the staff to bring out the best in them. We need some inspiration.

Lets show some faith in our manager, he's Leeds through and through,

Players who so called love Leeds United easily leave us when a better offer comes knocking.

I want a manager in charge who's passionate for the club. Any time a club has showed a slight interest in Grayson, he's quick to declare his desire to stay with us.

Yes, his management skills are clearly not as good as what's out there, but lets keep faith in a manager who would do anything to be at our club.

I want a manager who wants to be here, not just for the money.

We all moan that we want loyalty from our players and manager, but we cannot show them the same loyalty back.

MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Well said, january certainly is not the time to bring in a new regime.
We should stick with Grayson, although he does need to improve the team.
But there is no way bates will invest in january, when prem teams are more likely to let fringe players that would do a good job in the championship go on loan.
We have enough dead wood that are being paid that we need to get rid of.
Graysons loyalty should be rewarded, not only by the fans but the players and bates.
MOT

Agree3 Disagree3

I want to watch a team that can play quality football and we haven't seem much of that this season, his loyalty and desire to do the best for Leeds United is unquestionable ,but his managerial skills to get the best out of the squad are now being questioned.

Agree2 Disagree1

Being a supporter is not about wanting to watch quality football. Flights to Barcelona are cheap if that's what you want. Support the team and get real. Quality football is a long way off at ER. In the meantime start supporting the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary McAllister was loyal to the club, but we didn't give him a chance. Poor lad was out of the door once it went t*ts up for a couple of matches - He could sign quality players (Snodgrass, Becchio, Freedman) and play attractive football - he couldn't win league 1 because you have to play gritty and grind out a win, but in this league he'd be able to create a master team unlike our current gritty team tactics.
