Sinisterra allegedly only being lined up on a 2 year deal which seems a bit short. If he has a good 1st season he could be snapped up for next to nothing by a bigger club. Of course if he is pants we can get rid of him quicker but why would we sign someone we thought wouldn't be any good. Seems odd ro me if true - I would have thought 3 years would be better for us.

Four would be the norm I think, so two certainly seems very short to me and a great risk of 20+ million for him to walk away quickly.

I've already posted why this is the case. It's what I'd call an "ambition check" from the player and his agent. Meet ambition and he'll renew.

Obviously, but my point us that it gives the player all the power and shows we as a club are negotiating from a very weak position. Another symptom of lack of ambition and investment last season.

Alf What else do you expect? Did we finish last season on the cusp of European berth? Do we have a stadium ?️ rivalling Ambrosia, Emptyhad or Spuds? Do we have Erling banging them in for us starting next month or someone of his ilk? You see the thing that everyone notices about a developing project is that it is a developing project. Stepping stone apt label to use but I'd rather be the Northern Leicester (until we rival Ambrosia once again) than some no hope yoyo EPL club. Be patient my suggestion.

George happy to be corrected but am sure last season you quite rightly on several occasions lambasted the board along with others ( Alf, Chris and myself) for not recruiting better in Summer 2021 and not at all in January 2022.
In 9th position Leeds were potentially a more attractive proposition . instead one failed year on we are now in a much weaker position having finished 17th quite lucky even to have stayed up in the end.
That is Alf point I believe, its certainly mine.

Baz Yes I did. Fact I'm now praising board for their efforts doesn't change my previous criticism of them (but it's clear they were beguiled by Bub) . It only makes sense I'm lauding them now. They had no alternative but to invest and with their underinvestment in 2021, it makes sense that we're now being treated to a spendathon and even more so due to outgoing sales. Personally, I hope we proceed to sign ? as well. Then we'll have 3 DMs to choose from. Competition for places, strength from bench, options. Gakpo and CDK will make a fantastic first team and create more squad depth but realistically don't see either arriving. Hope I'm wrong about that.

Correct Baz. And no point blaming Bielsa for lack of activity last year George, the board came out and said it was their strategy to not strengthen last season as they thought we had enough. Lessons do seem to have been learned but we lost a lot of ground last year when we could have pushed on.

Chris - 2 year comments were in relation to ‘alleged’ length of contract - and that such contract lengths (not necessarily this contract specifically as the actual length is unknown) are used as an ambition check prior (potentially) to signing for longer.
