YEP reporting that Victor Orta went on to Italy from Belgium - though apparently he wouldn’t let on about where exactly he was, as he knew social media (and clickbait journos) would instantly start speculation about who he was chasing - and presumably to avoid alerting possible rivals. YEP believes he may be talking to one of our DM options.

Baz - I seem to recall hearing that several players have commented on how they were impressed that Uncle Victor actually went to the time and effort to go and make a presentation to them, rather than just a phone/ video call - and that it helped sway their decision to join Leeds. And if that might help bring in players who might otherwise go to a rival, that shouldn’t be derided. I would also have thought he would probably have to be convinced of a player’s quality and of there being a decent chance of success in order to go to the effort. It is possible that the potential selling clubs might also look slightly more kindly on a potential buyer if they put in the effort for face to face negotiation - and even if unsuccessful on occasion, such contact in any business can help build contacts and relationships which may prove beneficial in future.

Rather worrying statement from VO if true, Victor stating that Leeds hand was forced to sell KP this season, due to the £90 million (plus .c.v. losses) spent when first promoted.

That would not point towards significant new investment based upon last season’s very close escape.

Hopefully, the majority of the money recouped from KP and Raphinia sales will definitely go towards new recruits rather than the bank manager.

These bigger clubs spend £100-£150 million every season, not really a level playing field really is it.

George - not sure Weston or Juve, would be interested, or indeed that he would fit the attributes profile or price bracket we require.

Canada, interesting that you should mention Nandez. Something that might add fuel to such idle speculation would be that we’ve just arranged a friendly with Cagliari as our final preseason game, despite their having just been relegated. The counter to that may be that Radrizzani has a good relationship with their President, and we previously played a preseason game over there and may have a long-standing agreement to reciprocate that arrangement. Also Nandez missed a chunk of last season with an MCL injury - and while their relegation and that injury would likely mean a lower price, and he completed 90 minutes in their final match, it would seem unlikely he’d be seen as a replacement for KP

There are of course a number of other DMs we have been linked with previously, who Uncle Victor may or may not be interested in currently, including Koopmeiners (no chance of him being interested either) and Sasa Lukic. Of course it could be a DM who’s never been linked, or not even a DM, or not even in Italy at all…….

It was a rather tongue in cheek comment Clu . hence the emoji wink
Yes what you say is logical.

I'm sure Nandez would be a lower price than previously linked due to the relegation.
The friendly did gain my attention too and made me wonder if there was a link.
Not sure what his situation is with regards to the domestic abuse charge he was facing, anyone know?

To be honest Canada, that issue for Nandez completely passed me by in January, being focused primarily on non-football related matters at the time. It seems he protested his innocence and seems to have pressed counter- charges. Things seem to have gone quiet since then, and he was back playing for Cagliari on 20 January having missed three games supposedly due to CV19. He appears to have got a knee injury early in that game, with a lesion in the MCL only diagnosed about 2 months later when he tried to return to training - no surgery was required and he missed a further 4 games before starting his comeback, which was completed with a full 90 minutes in their final game.
