Apparently we are on the verge of selling Halme and possibly also Wilks to Barnsley. Disagree with this if we are.

The initial talk was of loans which made more sense. Wilks, I’m not sure is going to be a Bielsa player because of his character and perceived laziness, but another years loan to see where both he and Leeds are next year. Another manager might fancy him.

Aappo seems to have had a strange year, was in Bielsas thoughts, equipped himself reasonably well and then went backwards as the year went on, possibly through injury. I wonder if the thought is he is not physical enough and a bit prone to shirt pull and fouls when he gets caught out.

Depends of course how much the money is? There is a desire to clear the decks a bit and this rids salary and puts a few quid in the coffers. I think we paid around 500k euros for Aappo, so he was one to be fast tracked and the view must be it hasn’t worked?

Spanish Don't see how it hasn't worked when every time he played he acquitted himself. We should be retaining our taller more physical players. He may not be a Bielsa ball player but he's a capable defender. Would've preferred loan.

Thinning out the woods.

Georgie, just got a hunch that they decided Pascal is the better option as the year went on. He is more physically tough than Aappo, unfortunately he was injured early season and missed preseason I think, so Aappo got ahead. Later in the season it was Pascal who was getting the plaudits. Like you, I thought we would loan him and see how he got on in the championship.

George gets into the hot tub of hope and takes off his shorts.

Bige is still to receive my shorts.

And Wex, the water didn’t even ripple!

A little disappointed if the move is permanent, as I thought
he did well overall on the occasions he played for the first team, and was surprised when he was seemingly dropped - there seemed to be something there to work with. Looking back over highlights, however, reminds me that while he was good in the air (including in the opposition box) he wasn't so good on the deck and did lack a little in pace and so had difficulty recovering if caught out of position.

Spanish, I think you are also right re concerns over his physicality. In the U23 final he seemed to struggle with the robust play from Brum - from recollection, didn't he go down with knocks on three or four occasions, whereas Struijk seemed to relish it. Struijk also seems to have a few yards extra pace and is maybe more accomplished on the ball. I had thought they might develop together to become the first choice CB pairing in time, but if Bielsa and Corberan feel Halme won't make the grade, I cannot truthfully say I have any basis on which to disagree.
