IMO there are 3 people to blame for us not being in the top 2 at this stage. (Samu Saiz) , (whoever allowed him to leave) and (whoever cocked up the Daniel James transfer) .
I believe a fit, on form, committed Saiz would have gained us the few extra points needed. Someone should have told him to man up, remind his wife/ girlfriend he was a professional footballer when she met him and this is how it is.
Failing this I believe the signing of James would have gained us the extra points and impetus needed. 😠😠😠.

Agree2 Disagree1

Not sure on the Samu comment Dan but totally with you on the James situation.

How often was Saiz fit and on form though? we should have binned him when he spat at the Newport lad. As for James, seems to me that it was Swansea's fault, I don't claim to know the ins and outs of it but if the lad was at ER and ready to sign but Swansea changed their mind what can you do?

Saiz didn’t fit! He was lucky to be around after the spitting incident and never repaid us for sticking by him. Look at what has happened to him at Getafe, hardly taken the opportunity he had so desperately wanted has he! On his day, talented player but too few days and I suspect always on his terms. When you compare Hernadez, the man with Saiz, you see the difference!

James ultimately didn’t come because the Swansea Chairman ignored his owners instructions and then resigned before he was sacked. Not sure what we could have done to revive it as he wasn’t taking calls and would probably still have ignored instructions! I think on deadline day everybody closely involved bar the Swansea chairman thought it was all sorted!

Danum Agree totally but the person solely responsible for both failures is Radz. Regarding Saiz, very difficult to resolve, a bit like Brexit but I would've only permitted him to go at the end of the season. As for James, Radz knew all along the proposed transfer was dubious because of the Chairman at the time. Had Radz offered the money up front, the Chairman would've relented. I think you'll find what actually cost us this season ultimately is Radz's money problems (this caused the poor structure of the failed James acquisition) from his tv rights debacle. Radz naive. If we don't get promoted via the playoffs, wouldn't surprise me to see Radz' true colours. Him selling up and Bub leaving. We've paid the consequences this season for Radz' mistakes when it all should've been so different.

Spaniard Saiz did fit albeit only just. What he did at Newport wrong but he became a highly effective ball carrier which aided our overall play. He did need resting more frequently, as did other players but letting him leave was dumb and has cost us an automatic promotion and a diminution in his transfer value. As for James, you are right but miss the point. Radz knew this dynamic but failed to react and take decisive action. His tv rights debacle meant he couldn't restructure the deal to Jenkins liking so Jenkins put his foot down. If we fail in the playoffs (likely) I won't be surprised to see Radz sell.

Guess we will never know. Not sure I follow your logic with James, Radz and everyone else thought the deal was done, why need to renegotiate anything. By the time it became apparent, too late. In my opinion Saiz is only good if he wants to play and even then when he has been given the opportunity he wanted in Spain, he hasn’t delivered. But it’s all in the past, we could have had both of them and still ended up where we are, who knows.

I think you might be more right about Bielsa going on then Radz in the short term, depends who is willing to buy and not buy. Not sure Bielsa will have the energy to go again or the players to go with him unless he can show how he has learned and that he really has the resources he wants.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. How was your Easter you were very quiet on here!

23 Apr 2019 13:53:08
Spanish Not good! Very depressed about losing to Wigan. There's other personal carp I'm going through right now. An Easter to forget!

Spanish Radz and American counterparts at Swans thought, no hoped deal was done. They knew all along about Jenkins. Jenkins was the one who told McBurnie he's going nowhere. There was however a chink of light with Jenkins. He was passionate about protecting financial interests of Swans so informed everyone he'll only sanction deal if virtually all money paid up front. You know the outcome.

23 Apr 2019 14:32:59
That’s interesting stuff George. Hopefully Radz will learn from it! Sorry to hear your news. The personal stuff can help keep the football in perspective but the football can also provide some much needed relief at time. When both are bad, it’s not good! Feeling for you!

Spaniard Thanks. Please bear in mind Radz economic with the truth. He said afterward "we did everything they asked". Yes, in a way he's right. Problem is he didn't do everything that EVERYONE asked, ie Jenkins.

23 Apr 2019 19:17:06
James was supposed to be Bielsa's number 1 target, so why did we not try to get the deal done early in the Window? Radz and his sidekick Kinnear have always been economical with the truth. Remember last close season when Kinnear was on a Season Ticket Sales Drive and he was telling us how many millions we had to spend as well as the 10 million from the 49rs. What happened to all that?

23 Apr 2019 22:34:39
Swansea were always trying to hold on to their key players and only sell as much as they needed. I suspect that James was the last one that they wanted to go and from memory he wasn’t the only deal that fell through on the final day once they had what they needed. In the end it worked out for them, they have benefited from his play and they should get a much better fee for him, so you can see why they did it.

23 Apr 2019 22:57:04
Spanish The "they" you refer to was Jenkins on his own. He left the following day. James' increase in value via goalscoring displays prove he was right. The benefactors, Swansea, are merely lucky as "they" intended quite the reverse, his sale.
