I will play the pessimistic optimist for now.
I agree our transfer window has been impressive so far and I am fairly optimistic we will survive.
Buying quality players at any price does not guarantee results. Look at Devon who paid triple what we have and arguably have better players in most positions but are basically rubbish.
I will reserve my judgement until we start playing prem teams.
It's very early days I know but what I've seen of two German games ( extended highlights ) I think we need to reduce the high press and defend a lot better. Mid and forward thinking players seem to be adequate but we are far far from the finished article.
I'm excited but also cautious too.
None of us know if the team we have is good enough yet.

Nice bait Aus but fish ain't biting today. Conversely Leeds now into 750/ 1 from 1000. Damn, that's cost me at least £2,500!

Good post Aus, as a glass half full man myself, I’m extremely optimistic of us surprising and comfortably surviving next season, but I’m limiting that opinion based on the teams outside of the almost guaranteed top four/ five teams every season.
Whilst preseason is all about fitness, despite our excellent recruitment campaign many people have still been frustrated that we have gone too slow or still need more, which you cannot argue with in the creative, goalscorer areas of the pitch.
Perri my favourite signing to date but all seem very strong.
Compare that to Everton where Kinnear has started to work his magic, they have both first choice cbs out injured, lost 3-0 to Bournemouth yesterday, after which David Moyes said he still needs 6-7 new signings, possibly 9-10.
Ed025 would probably agree that by comparison we have done exceptionally well in the window.
But as you rightly state Aus the real test comes when the season starts, but I’m excited and cannot criticise one signing so far, have a hunch that Nmecha may turn out to be an AO type success!
{Ed025's Note - i think you have bought well CO92 and although i think you need a couple more you seem to be going in the right direction mate, saying that i think it will still be a very tough season for you (and us) by the looks of things, staying up will be a major achievement and that should be your goal and anything more a bonus..

Well, valid points indeed guys, but sorry I simply cannot agree with the survival is a result thesis. What next? Survive again next season, then the season after? NO. We have to aim higher and build on it, we can't build on quicksand and maybe we will be here next year to doggy paddle again.
Ride the wave, increase our standing, there is no reason why not and you have to have belief or there is little point trying. We Will shock people this season, we Will compete, I have no doubt. Of course feel free to remind me of this if we don't ??.

Well mr vidlufc I am in same boat that’s exactly what survival is about do as best we can this year, let players settle in and adapt to pace, and closing down of teams, and if we do manage to survive we then, bring in a new couple of faces and add a bit more quality to the team and so on but that’s the only way to survive, which I think we will pretty comfortably this year, thanks to 49 ers, so how does other people doubt us when this is probably be 1 of the strongest, teams we ve put together when getting promotion, and with others still to come so please don t knock it its all going so well, and the other teams don’t have so much money to spend as us . in that mean not the top six but the others, so come on Leeds fans let’s get behind our team.

Come on Ed you know as well as I do Toffees will be pushing top 8 this season.
{Ed025's Note - i was hoping so Alf but our recruitment has been very poor up to now mate, we have lost a lot of players and only Thierno Barry has come in along with a back up keeper and Alcaraz on a permanent, the clock is ticking..
28 Jul 2025 06:56:48
We can aim as high as we like vid. What we achieve is what we achieve. There is no reason atm where 18, 15, 12 or 9 is nailed on. So pure speculation. Each to our own. I prefer to think the worse albeit survival and be over the moon with anything above rather than expect 8-10 and get 15-17. Will be the same result wherever we finish but just diff journeys for us.
28 Jul 2025 11:54:00
Well me myself can see us staying up pretty easily because the team we building and what we have is looking pretty good? And the other thing is these other teams around us at the moment are falling apart with out us playing them manager left Brentford, now the owner wants to sell team Everton never got no money to spend but will fetch in 10 loans known moyes, same as West Ham sold best players, and look pretty poor, wolves been pulled apart a bit lost some good players, and if that don’t give you any confidence, well what am I to say.
28 Jul 2025 09:40:17
Thanks Ed025, think we definitely need a couple or three yet in the attacking areas of the pitch
But remember our offer, in recognition of all your good work on this site (Jack Harrison to Everton on a free) stands ?.
{Ed025's Note - you can stick that offer where the sun dont shine CO92, but we are so short of numbers mate that it would not surprise me one little bit, i have to say that i would rather have shingles than Jack Harrison though.. :)
28 Jul 2025 10:14:16
Well Ed, if you are short of players, we got a nice little left winger you can have on the cheap ?.
{Ed025's Note - CO92 has been trying to palm that waste of space on us as well Vid, you lot must really hate Everton mate.. :)
