If Liverpool press ahead and are successful with this Wirtz transfer is this the transfer that could mark the beginning of end of absolute lunacy transfer money?

How in name of god is this path sustainable, ? Seen reports of 130-140 million, that's just farked

Wages and agents fee this is staggering amounts of cash for kicking a football around.

Indeed Chris…I find it strange how we cry blue murder when an MP or an MD earns a “disproportionate” sum, or a train driver etc, yet we tolerate the extortionate (vulgar) amounts a footballer earns. Likewise, riot when petrol hits £8 a gallon, but happily pay £48 a gallon for beer!

World is nuts, and football especially so.

I hope it collapses in on itself. I firmly believe had the “Super League” gone ahead, that would have been the start. A closed shop would have soon lost interest with the TV rights.

£250m in entirety I believe although spread over a number of years that's not too far from where we already are with transfers imo.

03 Jun 2025 22:47:24
Er, they have basically created a super league haven’t they?

Bread and circuses ani.

I was thinking the same. Seems like a minimum spend for the big boys and Devon is 40 mill. Out of reach generally for a maximum buy for the rest of us. I want us to be successful but hate to think we will need to spend that sort of dosh on players to sustain our success.

04 Jun 2025 07:24:42
Totally agree Aus. I was sat last night thinking the same, and if the day arises that we do start spending that, or needing to, to achieve ANY success, I might have to review my relationship with the sport as a whole. It's disgusting.

It's absolutely nonsensical, surely PSR was created to stop this very thing happening yet all it does is hamstring most clubs and open the way for the big boys to cherry pick and dominate the transfer market.

The world is upside down Ani. As for Devon, big spending already again, but they had to get rid of Brenda the tea lady amongst many others.

05 Jun 2025 04:10:04
Heard Brenda was on 150k a week.

05 Jun 2025 09:07:56
That's another rumour Aus. She was only on 90k!
