On a positive note, Southampton are officially relegated after doing absolutely turd.
Careful what you wish for, the monkey paw is unforgiving.

Listening to Saints fan on Talksport this afternoon and he was saying very much the same thing - the promised land turned into a living nightmare!
Naturally I want us to go up but if we do, the squad needs to be strengthened to be premiership ready - and even then it's going to be a struggle.
We need to be very realistic with ourselves.
First things first though, win against Boro tomorrow!

Certainly a horrific season for the not so saintly Saints. the gap between leagues is a chasm.
But kudos to Forest and my main man ( Baz pick for Leeds coach in 2023) Nuno for a fab season for Forest 3rd place Champions League footie on the horizon.

You are obviously going to keep repeating that Baz about Nuno, but always ignore / conveniently forget the point that he wasn’t even an option for us given his extortionate release clause and our financial situation at that time.!
I could say I wanted Pep, and he was my pick at the time, and it’s equally as irrelevant, as neither were achievable! ?????♂️
Another utterly prickish thing to keep banging on about. Really reaching for the stars this season aren’t you?

I couldn’t have said that better myself Brighty, typical response from Baz with the same repetitive subject! Good post mate ??.

Nuno was achievable . Bright you are overplaying the fiancial situation . Forest got it done . some teams find a way come what may. Leeds do not.

Supertramp song comes to mind.

You seem to forget Baz, Forest were docked points twice last season for spending (and losing) too much money. (As were Everton) . They survived the EPL by the skin of their teeth and could quite easily have been relegated. Nuno is obviously a fortunate outcome following those transgressions. The three teams above us in our relegation season all broke the rules and essentially got away with it.
Likewise, Villa are also doing well, but were one faulty goal line technology issue from relegation. Think, they could have been relegated back to the EFL after one season, essentially bankrupt (no £100M Grealish to Man City deal. ) They were very lucky to get there in the first place and it’s pretty safe to say that the play-off victory v Derby saved their financial bacon as it was said they faced a 15 point reduction had they not.
Plenty of teams take that huge financial gamble to get to and try and stay in the EPL; a lot of them got pretty lucky one way or another, Villa, Forest, Sheff U, Leicester for example (though it didn’t really work out for the latter two) .
I think we might have made a better fist of it had we been promoted last season, but in all likelihood we would have probably been relagated because I don’t think last seasons side is as good as the current one. We would still have Gray, Summerville and Rutter and they have all largely struggled.
If we make it this season, we probably won’t have Rothwell and Solomon with us next season and they are two of our best players. We will have to spend a fortune just standing still before we try and strengthen.
So yeah, the manager can make a difference, even the ones you serendipitously pick and remind us of frequently, but in truth, a whole lot of luck helps a lot more.

You condemn Southampton Baz but what of your highly praised Ipswich and their coach McKenna, equally a pathetic attempt at surviving in the Premiership.
You definitely got that one wrong.
08 Apr 2025 06:56:10
Overplay the financial situation? Wtaf? Like Leicester? Like we did in the past? Like Reading now? Have you missed the page after page after page of news on PSR and its multiple other names?
08 Apr 2025 11:21:26
Yes Ani luck is a factor, Forest took risks if paid off.
As for last season Leeds its no worse or no better than this seasons Leeds imo. Rutter and even Summerville a level above our current players.
08 Apr 2025 11:27:05
No OP wrong.
McKenna has vastly over achieved. back to back promotions for little ole L1 Ipswich . he outperfomed the terribly overated increasingly found out Farke.
Farke tbe guy you want in EPL who had 15 league defeats in a row with Norwich . and a pathetic 21 points .
