So the 49ers reportedly involved in the proposed takeover at Rangers? Does this mean they are planning to take a step back at ER (RB) , or spreading their bets and diluting their level of investment potential with us? Hoping it's not the latter!
My own gut feel is that should we go up, RB will purchase a large %age of 49s stock and take the lead.
Thoughts?
20 Feb 2025 09:28:56
Not sure what to make of it really Bright, I believe football is such big business now, and 49ers certainly have utilised celebrity investors such as Thomas, Speith, Will Ferrell, but investors want a return at the end of the day.
Rangers, monetary wise are a great investment in a predominantly two team championship European football is almost guaranteed with the respective tv money.
When we are promoted it will be interesting to see what happens, certainly Red Bull are more of a football based structure with the opportunity to move players throughout their club ownership, but it’s probably the importance of our stadium redevelopment which will provide us with the biggest chance of becoming an established EPL team, and for that to actually you need genuine billionaires, millionaires need not apply.
How are Gulf Finance fairing these days Jeff?
20 Feb 2025 09:30:44
Redbull as LUFC owners ( instead of investment arm of SF49ers) please all day long.
20 Feb 2025 10:03:51
To be honest no one will truly know the answer to this but I’m sure speculation will be rife.
Either way we are golden both the 49ners and red bull have proven to be great for us.
20 Feb 2025 12:09:55
Lol Class! Jeff! “And his name will start with…. an H! ” ??.
20 Feb 2025 13:15:35
Not sure 49ers have the quality or acumen for a prem league team. Look at their signings and management. Maybe got their in the end but prem league dosent offer owners time to learn. Def not great bermo. You seem to like that word. Red bull very experienced and should have the experience and coin.
20 Feb 2025 13:43:28
Aus I do like the word great.
I’ve been a leeds fan since 1989 and outside of 1989-1992, I honestly don’t think things have ever been greater at leeds.
Oleray was a false dawn under mad suicidal ownership. Bubs was another false dawn that lead to comical relegation
Right now is great, great recuritment, great results everything’s great
Remember I predicted the crash under bubs four years before it happened. This time feels different to me. Let’s hope I’m right hey? Every leeds fan should be behind me posts praying I’m right because I predict a bit of a golden age for leeds and best times since 1992 where we achieved our best potential and not three away a good hand.
20 Feb 2025 14:00:25
What Aus said re Red Bull
Berma you did NOT predict a so called " crash under Bielsa four years before it happened "
20 Feb 2025 17:55:11
Baz The edge on a ledge was also best mates with Elvis. He knew him like a brother. He also previously advised our government on the merits of the introduction of subinfeudation into society.
20 Feb 2025 18:08:34
Baz, yes I did…. Very much so. I was famously never ever a fan of his. I never forgave him for throwing tge leauge away in record breaking fashion and then throwing away the playoffs in record breaking fashion. I of course loved the promotion season but said to all that listened it was a false dawn and he was never going to keep us up, which apart from the year he spent a fortune he didn’t do.
Same with Phillips never liked him…. I may be boring, I may bang on, but I am consistent and I predicted the fall of bubs and Phillips years before anyone else.
20 Feb 2025 18:08:37
Erect a red heifer statue next to Billy to announce their full takeover and pledge to spend half a billion quid each window. The red heifer would then immediately be painted by fans in ??. I think it would look quite attractive.
20 Feb 2025 19:09:56
Nope Berma you didn't forecast. a ton of injuriesbin 21/ 22, cheapskate PR Radz signing of just DJ and JH in 21/ 22 a tiny squad to happen in 21/ 22 season
You also didn't predict Leeds as Champions in 19/ 20 nor Leeds coming 9th in EPL in 20/ 21.
20 Feb 2025 19:48:06
Can’t see the 49er’s offloading Leeds United in the near future. The target of getting us to the Premiership and then selling when the big money gates have just opened makes no sense whatsoever. No, they will definitely be holding on to our club for the foreseeable future in my opinion.
20 Feb 2025 20:07:49
You are right baz I didn’t predict that… my predictions are far more long term and bigger picture. I did say from Belisa very first season (around Xmas when we were top) that I felt we wasn’t going up (correct) and that although Belisa is a world class coach his lack of match day ability would lead to everything ending in tears (correct) I also said for all his ability his weaknesses out weight his strengths (debatable but not in the context of time at leeds correct)
With Phillips I said he will go city and sit on bench (correct, then go to a premiership struggler like burnely (correct) where is would struggle (correct) and leeds go up as he goes down and he will then struggle in the championship (let’s see)
Baz the orical and got nothing on the cockney profit.
20 Feb 2025 20:43:29
Let's put this to bed shall we, Bielsa changed the whole panorama for us, to criticise him for not getting promotion in his first season is no more ludicrous than criticising DF for the same. Look what he did in season 2. Look what he then did in season 3, 59 points and 9th place in the prem at his first bash. He was then hit with massive injury problems, players hitting their ceiling and regressing, lack of proper reinforcing though he had warned we needed it as soon as we were promoted. We will never know if he would have taken us down because he was removed. March kept us up, just, which suggests Bielsa would have. He, OLeary, Wilko, The Don, they are all part of our rich heritage, celebrate it, don't carry out an autopsy for the sake of an argument. We are now in a fantastic place, revel in it and be excited where its going to take us. UTWDTP and enjoy ?.
20 Feb 2025 21:19:41
But he spent £478 trillion in his first week in charge.
20 Feb 2025 21:27:15
OP
. but it might be prudent of you to learn German in near future
if you wanna keep you LUFC cushy gig.
20 Feb 2025 21:32:08
So Berma your prediction was that Leeds United a newly promoted EPL club would eventually struggle . wow . profound . take a bow.
20 Feb 2025 22:06:15
No my prediction was Belisa shortcomings would make us a joke… spot on. Don’t think anyone else called that, apart from a few who knew football and supported clubs he prioivlsy managed.
20 Feb 2025 23:17:20
No, no, no Berma!
One refers you to the eloquent Davey Vids accurate synopsis above re Bielsa's 4 years at LUFC.
21 Feb 2025 07:22:32
Baz your concept of how much owners can spend at their clubs is still in pre PSR days. Do you actually understand what the Profit and Sustainability Rules are about? I would suggest you read a little about it to inform yourself because it seems you have little to no idea what it is all about.
If you think that RB taking full control of our club will mean more spending then you are mistaken.
I also don’t see SF 49er’s anything less than a committed and serious custodian of our club, it’s still a business to anyone who takes over and they have done everything right so far in my estimation.
21 Feb 2025 09:14:54
Note to all. Do not under any circumstances make posts about your own past predictions! It rattles the Baz cage, making him grumpier and more defensive, which in turn activates the “Yes boss 2000” defence droid who will deploy wannabe smart 4ss comments.
21 Feb 2025 10:23:54
So bright in that case, can I predict a riot?
21 Feb 2025 11:59:48
So OP would you ( truly genuinely) prefer as Leeds Unired owners
an investment arm of SF49ers with very little experience of football and currently ZERO actual success in football ( no promotions ( big chance mess up last season) . let alone trophies
To decades of football experience ( including multiple Champions League experience) and success from Red Bull . with multiple promotions and trophies!
Wow. just wow!
21 Feb 2025 13:14:31
Sorry Baz, have to agree with OP. Everything the 49ers have done so far is very professional, unhurried, done in the right way. They may not have much experience in football but what they do have is an excellent business model and they have hired the experience necessary. I would not trust RB with our club.
21 Feb 2025 14:22:52
Vid interested to know
1) why you would not trust Red Bull with our club?
( Unlike other LUFC owners PR Radz, GFH, investment arm of SF49ers : Res Bull would definitely be in it for the long haul at LUFC and every club RB own are succcessful.
And
2) exactly how long you predict investment arm of SF49ers to stay as Leeds United owners before they flip/ sell us. 1 year? 3 years max imo.
They are not in it for the long haul.
21 Feb 2025 14:36:16
Let 49ers complete stadium ?️ expansion (part of their expertise wheelhouse) then sell to RB alongside another commercial behemoth in or around 2028. Then we'll be fit for trophies ??.
21 Feb 2025 17:22:22
A very fair perspective right there George. I tend to agree with it.
21 Feb 2025 18:26:56
Well Baz in answer, RB own Leipzig and Salzburg, they both play at The Red Bull Arena. They own the New York Red Bulls who play at The Sports Illustrated Stadium. They also own FC Leifering who play in the second tier of Austria and are considered a reserve side for Salzburg. You spotting a theme? None of the above are tearing up footie with trophies. If you wanna go to Stad Gives You Wings to watch the mighty Whites then that's up to you. Re the 49ers I believe they are in for the long haul. They see the potential and our association will make us massive in the US of A. These guys are business men and Leeds are a huge opportunity for them to get into and succeed in the richest league in the world. They have already invested big time in everything down to the expansion and I don't believe would have if they were going to "flip" us like the twits from GFH were going to, look how that panned out for them. No no no to Red bloomin bull.
21 Feb 2025 19:21:02
OK Vid appreciate your response ; we shall see what happens.
21 Feb 2025 19:54:49
And before you say it, I know Salzburg have won countless silverware, but that's in the Austrian league, bit like Celtic saying they have won loads in a league of 2. And Leipzig, their claim to fame? Came 3rd in the Bundesliga in 2023. Honestly. Under the 49ers we are going 0laces.
