Great performance again last night, this is all proving now that the character and the momentum of all the players is getting bigger with every game we play.
For the Stato’s there’s undeniable facts that breaking club records vindicates that we have what it takes to win this league.
It’s visible to see the confidence oozing out of the players on the pitch, everyone plays for each other with maximum intent. It’s exactly what we lacked towards the end of the campaign last season, that will not happen again, that is for sure.
Meslier showed also what he is more than capable of doing and still is in my estimation, by far the best keeper in this league in a global sense.
We create so many goal scoring opportunities which we might not have so much in the Premiership and it’s something we have to improve on, to turn those chances into goals. It’ should have been a 5/ 6-0 last night. Piroe and James are good quality in the Championship and I hope they can improve on that quality in the Premiership as they will definitely need to.
Big praise to Farke also, he’s got this team bang on where it needs to be to get this job done. The Championship is the hardest and toughest league in the world, winning promotion from it wins the ultimate praise and respect.

But if we spent £100 million in January we might of won 3-0 OP. can’t believe you are happy with only a 2-0 win against the form team away from home. If the worst keeper in the league didn’t get lucky and make 2 camera saves then we might of lost.
FARKE OUT
AK (who has no relevance to transfers) OUT
49ers OUT
POSITIVE (company men) FANS OUT.

You know. Sometimes I think posts are written purposely to wind people up. I think quite a few do it intentionally.
I agree wholeheartedly with your first and third paragraph. But you got to be honest, your second is comical. Anyway. Your opinion and that’s fine.
Let’s hope fourth is true also but I seem to recall he had us there last season too.
So. So far this season despite him lacking in Certain areas. Yes. A big shout out to Farke. Let’s hope he can finish the job this year.

It’s only comical in your point of view Aus. I don’t expect anyone on here to share the same views I have on Meslier or our club for that matter. I’m just glad that our coach has the same opinion.
Doubters will always express their caution, we are fans of a very emotional club that carries more than its fair share of baggage. I understand it but I choose not to be a part of that self deprecating view of our club.
Although the Revie period was a sort of successful period for the club on the same hand unintentionally it has created an enormous amount of emotional pressure of the many years after and even today.
Hence those self deprecating views, like (we will probably finish in the play offs and lose again) !
You will always attract what you believe in.

Good post OP, was very wary of an ion form dangerous Coventry team, and a certain manager who has recent history of wishing to derail our ambitions.
Was out last evening, but have now watched the highlights, my summary was another excellent professional performance, and I give all due credit for Daniel Farke getting this team performing to the highest level in the league bar none. Plus, excellent rotation of our midfield, especially on the back of the previous victory.
Well done Mes for two excellent saves (Have previously noted his biggest strengths are close quarter reaction saves and 1vs1) but it’s two saves, and he’s playing behind the second meanest defence in the division.
But all kudos to Farke for his convictions when keeping him in, when it would have been very easy to have tried Darlow, it has clearly boosted the lads confidence.
Personally, I don’t get, understand all the piling in on Baz, for his previous opinions (from many posters) who had previously said in writing, they wouldn’t fall under “I told you so” mantra?
Yes Baz does do this at times, but two wrongs don’t make a right, nor does Farkes ongoing achievements make one posters opinion more superior than another, or take away his right to retain his own opinion.
With regard to Stats, we must not let the truth get in the way of our individual narratives, of course we should justly hold and praise Farkey and the team for this season’s magnificent statistical achievements.
But factually, statistically, Mes currently ranks 8th for overall save % in the league and 12th for expected goals saved which is an improvement of one place, possibly as a result of his two excellent saves last night, keep improving Illan.
Petty digs about Bielsa, Dan James (top of key chances created in this league) in order to score points against other posters (Baz) , is still criticising a magnificent legend of a Leeds United Manager and current player, under the guise of its getting back at other posters (Baz) perceived criticism of players, oh the irony of it all!
Why can’t we just enjoy the moment of our team performing so well, posters don’t need referencing and certainly we don’t deserve any credit or kudos it’s just a banter site, not FIFA manager.
And if we are insistent on making positive statistical references, then we should not denigrate other posters for simply extolling the same truthful statistics, even if it is contrary to our own beliefs, narratives.
Brilliant win, now Daniel, please rest our key players (Rodan, Piroe, Solomon, DJ) to avoid any unnecessary injuries, against those Wall thugs.

'Global sense' OP?
Wuat Aus said re 2nd paragraph.

Utterly superb post Class . as ever very logival and crucially very WELL BALANCED class post!
I have said several times before there is very good reason why I ( nor anyone) can counter yout posts . they are so well balanced.
Top poster.

Will you marry me class. That post is perfection.
I’ve just chucked my wife out. You can cook right?
06 Feb 2025 12:26:41
Lmao Aus ?? brilliant.
06 Feb 2025 12:48:21
Can’t boil an egg Aus, sorry but always fancied a trip down under!
06 Feb 2025 14:06:53
Which site you using class? I have mes 6th on overall save %. Better than Sunderland in the top 4. So not even the worst of the top 4 keepers like claimed.
On the same website I have Meslier on
1st matches played
1st on match started
1st on minutes
Proves that farke trusts him and he stays fit
2nd on goals conceded per 90 mins
1st on team wins when playing
2nd on clean sheets
2nd on clean sheet % of matches played
Amazing how all these stats are ignored. But the one that digs out the keeper is the one that’s provided.

I can see your point of trying to make a balanced post Class but I’m not having not responding to Baz’s very much opinionated points of view, with his more than a fair dollop of piss taking with it. He of course is entitled to his points of view like we all are but is it not discussion and debating to oppose other’s opinions?
Baz does love his point scoring on here, I for one couldn’t care less about it as I find it a little childish
But if he wishes to continue doing that then good luck to him as I certainly won’t be competing with him in that game.
I’m quite happy to have his opinions on here, gives me plenty of ammunition to counter his opinions.
I seriously don’t think posters are ganging up on him ?
and if they do retaliate with a bit of spice then all’s fair in love and war as Baz and George have both enjoyed at bit of that.
You are right in saying two wrongs don’t make a right but do you honestly believe that atmosphere on here amongst some is going to change anytime soon?
I take a certain amount of flak on here for supporting our keeper and that really doesn’t bother me, it’s my opinion and I’m more than happy to argue that point with anyone on here as with any other subjects.
I find it truly bizarre that we are enjoying some brilliant football at our club yet still so many want to condemn Ilan Meslier, even when he does pull off an excellent game?
In my opinion I find that quite sad in all honesty.

Keep pumping those stats out LAD, they will most likely be ignored but they must be stated. Meslier does not deserve the over the top abuse and cancellation of his talents of being a very good goalkeeper.
What counts the most for me is that his coach believes in him, the rest is just noise in the background.
06 Feb 2025 15:36:46
LAD I use Fotball
With regards your stats presented, it’s the same on here too in a slightly different format m.
On the same website I have Meslier on
1st matches played
1st on match started
1st on minutes
Proves that farke trusts him and he stays fit.
Fully agree LAD this confirms his longevity and the trust our manager places in him?
2nd on goals conceded per 90 mins
1st on team wins when playing
2nd on clean sheets
2nd on clean sheet % of matches played
Again, I fully agree LAD exactly the same results although the second set of results are a collective reflection of the whole teams’s defence from front to back.
For the avoidance of doubt, LAD I’ve never posted any personal opinions, or any derogatory names with regards to our young keeper, (I know you haven’t said that) but it’s important to me, I gave praise where fully merited for his two excellent saves last night.
The reason, I personally give greater credence to the individual stats in relation to the saves he makes as a % is it’s based on much fewer shots faced, (Johansson at Stoke) and I fully accept it may be harder for Illan to maintain absolute focus when we dominate the opposition for such long periods.
But the expected goals stopped metric, places Illan 12th it just does, therefore, I posted it because it’s factually correct, I’m not doing it for any other reason than it’s factually correct, and it reflects how he performs when our defences are breached and it’s all on our young keeper to make the save.
I personally like stats, BUT they can be misread, and of manipulated to a particular agenda (look at politics) and they are certainly not the be all and end all.
And there are always anomalies like Pascal being the most efficient passer of a ball in the league even though it’s probably never more than a few feet each time.
Largie having the most attempted shots % although he’s played very little of late.
No surprise that DJ creates the most significant expected goals chances in the league with 13 although only 6 ended up as goals for us, but that’s down to other individuals wasting the opportunities and I fully agree they are not judged the same way as keepers are, but that’s uniformly across all football.
We win and lose as one complete team, but please read my original post, as I very much praise Illan for his saves and Farke’s powers of conviction in sticking with him.
06 Feb 2025 17:03:40
I am not suggesting you have Class, just posting other stats too.
I am glad you mentioned young keeper too because he is 8th / 6th on saves % but is the 2nd youngest keeper from 8th upwards so we could assume he is still to get better with age, and if he does get better then that surely benefits us unless he is driven out of our club by negative fans and then becomes better elsewhere at our expense.
