A quick word on Ilian, how do we think the guy must be feeling, it must be tough, the criticism has been constant, confidence is key for any player. The only other I can think who has come in for so much stick is PB, a coincidence their form suffers? I think not. Any player who pulls on a Leeds shirt deserves our support. Faults an all, they are ours. It happens everywhere, look at Alexander Arnold at the Pool. Look, no player becomes dog shite overnight, mistakes are highlighted, competency overlooked, he is in the eye of the storm and people love someone or something to blame for disappointment. Support not destroy because we are talking about a decent human being.

Davey Vid
When a player is out of form/ not producing ( as in Meslier's case for 4 years) wise, not stubborn coaches rightly rest ( drop ) that player
and thereby crucially very fairly are able to give other players opportinities to do BETTER for the good of the team and squad harmony!
That's how it works Davey for vast majority!
10 Jan 2025 21:27:01
. and did you know Davey that in past 4 years Mes has made the MOST appearances of any gk in world football!
In those 4 years LUFC had 2 relegation battle seasons and a missed promotion ?
The 'supoortive' thing would be to give Mes a well deserved " rest" as well as finding better to make Leeds United a very long overdue frigging success
Side before Self
.
10 Jan 2025 23:05:55
Well that is true Baz, but in those 4 years are you saying it is because of Mes? It is a team game. The thing is we become entrenched in our views, our way of life, don't really look at the wider side of things. There is a far greater tapestry. We all have faults and positives. It's not what happens but how we react that's important.
10 Jan 2025 23:21:58
Well that's how things work in your text book Baz but thankfully you are not the manager of Leeds United, otherwise we would be in the shjte.
Think I’ll trust in Farkes decision making than your small minded armchair views of how our club should be managed.
11 Jan 2025 01:49:29
To be honest I think Farke should have done the right thing def at beginning of the season. Way before hull and Sunderland. First shot on target invariably went in. Was an opportunity there to drop him considering how few shots he faced. Now it’s bigger than Ben hit and Farke has caused his own predicament. It most def now team before self. Drop him and destroy what little confidence he has or play him and risk more blunders and a defence and team that dosent trust him. Seems Farke is opting for the self solution. Let’s see how that works out. I’m still 50-50 if we will go up or not but if we don’t there will be two people to blame. Not the whole team.
11 Jan 2025 01:50:52
Well with a very good experienced gk Davey Vid I feel we would have stayed up definitely yes in 2023.
Meslier regrettably went into total meltdown mode in the crucial Palace and Liverpool games when he conceded EVERY shot ( all eleven) on target
Along with his notorious gaffes in the Everton, Fulham and Bournemouth games.
11 Jan 2025 01:57:43
Err OP you contradict yourself
This season you have been moaning about DJ's loss of form and regularly advocating DJ to be dropped for Gnonto.
Yes when it comes to out of form points dropping Meslier . he is " undroppable" in your text book?!
Where is your consistency OP dear? ?.
11 Jan 2025 03:33:06
How bad did Georgie feel with the stick he got. A lot questioned his ability and worth. He turned it round.
If mes is worth his salt as a sportsman, he will turn it around. For him, that's all that counts.
11 Jan 2025 06:59:14
Ilan definitely suffering from lack of confidence at the moment and probably lack of support from his teammates. The elephant in the room for me is not whether or not he is dropped or rested but who he is replaced by. Imo we don't have a decent replacement so is DF choosing him due to support, belief, or simply because he has no choice? The noises he is making imo indicate one thing - the board have said we don't get a new keeper unless Meslier and his wages move on. DF simply making the best of the hand he has been dealt. Movement or lack in Jan will speak volumes in this regard.
11 Jan 2025 07:34:21
I don’t disagree with benching him for a while to take the pressure off him, but replace him with who, Darlow is not a good replacement in my opinion and the club have let themselves down in their choice of a second keeper.
11 Jan 2025 08:20:07
Imo Alf your supposition IF correct of :
' the board have said we don't get a new keeper unless Meslier and his wages move on. '
is a damning indictment on Marathe and Leeds hierarchy
Mes is on ( modest) £30k a week . his wages to end of May around £600K. literally peanuts compared to huge EPL riches that's up for grabs IF promoted
Even if Mes saw out the final year of his contract that would be £1.5 million in wages. small change relatively
1) Get in a good gk on loan this window
2) In meantime play Darlow for him to prove he is more reliable than the current cooked Meslier.
11 Jan 2025 08:30:09
Baz, where is the stat about meslier having made the most appearances, in the last 4 seasons, of any GK in world football from?
Sounds a lot like a made up and incorrect stat.
11 Jan 2025 08:39:22
He has been dealt Alf? Thought by the sounds of it he is in control of ins and outs. According to his press conference. None of our goal keepers are good enough for prem. Barely champ level. So Farke should simply replace them all or the two backs ups and get a new number one. It’s a complete mess. As you say due to his lack of confidence in his back ups. But that’s his fault. According to him.
11 Jan 2025 08:45:48
That is a point Alf that the visible rage from his teammates is something that perhaps should not be displayed on the pitch. I remember Firpo reacting the same in the game against Sunderland, especially coming from Firpo it was a bit rich.
I’m not sure it’s healthy to be doing this and Farke should stomp it out. Of course there are frustrations but if you are not showing unity on the pitch it could be sending the wrong message to our opponents.
Bryan has in an interview recently backed Meslier and claiming that the players are behind him. Even if that is not so they’ve got to keep their emotions in tact on the pitch.
11 Jan 2025 09:25:36
OP better Darlow than Mes. he played well for Wales . he mote than deserves an opportinity
Spot on Aus. Farkey is manager (not just a cosch) and has control a lot of say on ins and outs. this gk recruuitment mess is on him more than others
Who can blame players from exasperation and anger . natural reactions of players going back 6 decades with players.
11 Jan 2025 09:33:54
Brockers. it waa definitely in one of Leeds United content creators ; Kagey TV check it out. spot on analysis . check it out
Anyways apart from being wisely dropped for 4 matches by Big Sam
. and also Klaessen replacing him when he was sent off and suspended . Mws has been an ever present in league since taking over from Kiko in early 2020.I believe.
11 Jan 2025 11:18:04
Baz Wales is not Leeds United, there’s a huge difference.
11 Jan 2025 12:02:36
We were relegated with Allardyce and his decision making.
11 Jan 2025 13:45:25
2 of the 3.5 seasons were in a 38 game league, and 1.5 in a 46 game league (so already 16 games fewer than other keepers may have done) . Plus he didn’t play every game.
I’d be stunned if there isn’t an EFL keeper that has played more games in that time. And that’s before we consider other keepers in the world.
There’s no way that stat can be correct. Somebody on the internet saying something doesn’t make it true.
11 Jan 2025 12:23:28
give over OP. there is far more pressure playing for one's country
Wales have more fans (and more exectations) than Leeds United for starters.
11 Jan 2025 12:28:23
Leeds were well and truly R cooked by the time big Sam arrive for 4 final matches . little to no chance of staying up. players had given up.
11 Jan 2025 15:14:11
Well there was no point in you saying that Allardyce wisely dropped him when the whole squad had given up already in your opinion.
11 Jan 2025 15:14:46
Brockers
Meslier has played vitually evey match since early 2020.we are now in 2025 . he has been hugely overplayed ; very undesevedly and unwisely.
11 Jan 2025 17:52:25
So you made a stat up to justify your opinion, rather than just stating your opinion (which in itself may be valid) ?
Yes he played a lot of games. He did not however play more than any other GK in the world, which is what you erroneously, and laughably, said.
11 Jan 2025 19:46:49
I already told you the source Kagey TV. go watch it Brockers.
11 Jan 2025 22:14:44
Baz, I’m continuing as you’re talking rubbish and you don’t stop at any point to think logically about what you’re saying. It’s obviously rubbish, as I’ve outlined above why you should be able to realise it’s wrong even if some bloke on YouTube says otherwise.
It didn’t take long to find a goalkeeper in the EFL with more appearances than Meslier (141 in the last 3.5 seasons) . Paul Farman at Barrow has 148 - 5% more and that’s without trying hard or even thinking about looking at any other country in the world.
12 Jan 2025 03:58:49
Even if allegedly this keeper Farman has ( a whopping ?) 7 more appearances in past 4 seasons than Mes
The facts remain that Mes has been a virtual ever present 2020 to 2025.a huge number of games for him. far too many for him.
12 Jan 2025 07:15:22
No Baz, the facts are that you were wrong, you quoted (or made up lies) and you refuse to admit you were wrong.
Your arguments would carry much more weight if you didn’t constantly make things up. It would mean we’re less geared up to question and disregard everything you say.
