So we have or will have a bit of a problem when amps and gruev return as Tanaka and Rothwell are performing brilliantly, what do we do. Sell gruev to fund a striker, move amps back to defense, drop Tanaka or Rothwell. Now I am not endorsing any particular action just putting it out there to spark a conversation on what you all think would be an answer, I will either get a shed load of ideas or most will pick just the one let's see shall we. over to you guys and gals.

What you think old?
03 Nov 2024 11:44:19
Amps is our club captain so fully fit he should find his way into the side as dm.
Maybe rothwell will drop out as he is a loan player.
Amps and tanaka is my bet. Gruev might not see much football at all if reports are right.
As I said before rothwell has had a few seasons of not much game time so his output might drop.
Against Cardiff if we had takaka and rothwell on I think we would have done them like Plymouth. More probing progressive passes.

Drop Rodon for Amps!
03 Nov 2024 12:02:09
Never a problem to have four great players
For me it’s tough but I’d go ao and amps in my opinion that’s a premiership pairing.
03 Nov 2024 12:25:59
Home Roth so
Away amp grue with the man waiting. A legend in 15 min.
03 Nov 2024 12:39:38
Dont forget to. add our new signing the 'G- man" into the equation too.
03 Nov 2024 12:50:27
I would keep the current pairing drop amps back to defense alongside struik will we sign Rothwell don't know but don't think so, suppose it all depends on gaining promotion who we keep, a few we definitely keep a few won't cut it in premier league.
03 Nov 2024 14:16:18
Old from what amps has said interviews he sees himself as a dm.
I don't personally think he is a true cb.
Don't forget the 10 role. Aaronson is unlikely to play all matches this season so that is place for rothwell.
03 Nov 2024 14:53:23
That's a good point Ben but it was a way to keep AO an Rothwell in post where they have been an excellent pairing so far, I agree about amps but he played some of his best football in defense last year.
03 Nov 2024 15:12:26
Depending on the team and their strategy, poss have amps in defence where he plays best.
Gruev and Tanaka would be a solid pairing.
Rothwell or Gman in 10 to give BA a rest. I rate BA and he puts in effort, but we need to be mindful of burnout like we saw last season.
Failing that, we could have two upfront MJ/ JP+Gman 4 2 2 2 or 3 3 2 2.
As long as Farke makes best use of the versatility and doesn't just swap wingers for wingers, we will be golden.
Honourable mention to Solomon who looks to be improving on his fitness. I would give 60/ 30 to James/ ramazani/ Gnonto/ Solomon to keep them fresh and ease them back in. James, Solomon and ramazani can't risk been given 90 minutes just yet.
03 Nov 2024 15:21:39
Personally, I'd have Ampadu and Tanaka in the middle with Rothwell as an ideal replacement from the bench
Gruev is rumoured to be out well into February/ March, so he won't be getting rushed back into the mix
Struijk is solid on the left side of defence and scored too, so I wouldn't swap him for Ampadu
But on a positive note, it makes a change to have this conundrum ??.
03 Nov 2024 17:02:10
We are as well forgetting how these recoveries from Injury go. As with struijk last year set backs and complications can occur so we may be with one or both midfielders for the season.
And even when they do return to training they will not be up to speed and starting games for weeks.
03 Nov 2024 17:20:57
Think we mostly point to a Tana, Amps midfield retaining the Rodon/ Struijk Defence. Can't see much wrong with that with a Rothwell / Guila replacement.
03 Nov 2024 17:45:13
Keep all of them as there's still a long way to go this season and more injuries are bound to crop up.
03 Nov 2024 18:09:00
There appears to be some good news on Ampadu injury recovery timeline.
Several sources claim Amps is now likely to be back in training next month December
And back playing LUFC matches end of Dec / beginning of January.
03 Nov 2024 18:28:29
OB No "problem" at all. Called competition for places. Precisely what we need.
03 Nov 2024 19:17:53
Anyone suggesting Rodon to be dropped is off their game.
03 Nov 2024 19:54:24
If current form continues until Amps and Gruev are fit, you stick with exactly the same players and formation imo, you wouldn’t bring Amps in just because he is club captain if AO and Rothwell are still doing the business. Nor does Amps deserve to displace the CB partnership while they are keeping the opposition at bay.
A great conundrum to have, but truly believe there are so many opportunities to get everyone playing due to a hectic schedule.
03 Nov 2024 19:54:47
Thats perfectly true George but when I said problem it was only meant I the context of who plays and who doesn't given the current pair playing so well in my humble opinion. So not used in the literal sense.
03 Nov 2024 20:11:45
Just pleased to see the momentum retained with the injuries we have, a small but compact squad can be good. Amps has to come back as DM, Tanaka gives us a good dimension, Ramizani big miss. Would like to see MJ utilised more, but all in all we are in a good place, this is not as competitive as last year. MOT to the prem peeps innit x.
03 Nov 2024 20:55:41
To use preferred football language this would represent a 'selection headache' as opposed to a 'problem'. If it were down to me I would stick with the players who are doing so well and put the onus on the others to force their way back into the reckoning. We will also need to rotate to some extent to keep the lads competitive towards the back end of the season so factor that in. Just my thoughts but mayb this is why I am in charge of the tea-S and not the tea-M eh?
03 Nov 2024 21:14:20
Gratifying to see Rodon back to the GREAT form he was on last season. so definitely agree with Corkster no way Rodon dropped!
MG yep stick with good players producing good results on pitch.
Vid keep it quiet from OP that this years Champo is not as " competitive" and has less quality than last year .
03 Nov 2024 21:41:52
Cork,
Dropping a player doesn't mean they're bad, resting them in easy games isn't an insult, or shouldn't be. Rodon played his best game of the season (imo) against Plymouth, he seemed to be back on form. Sometimes players need a rest.
Gnonto is carrying an injury again, like he did last season, and it's putting him off his game. If we rest him, for example, he gets two weeks to recover, or three just before the international break.
03 Nov 2024 22:28:54
Baz And it's beginning to manifest in the league table.
03 Nov 2024 22:34:18
Well said Cuppa.
04 Nov 2024 08:46:42
Mo there’s an old football saying. “ Don’t muck about with your CB pairing”.
05 Nov 2024 11:21:48
The Championship is as competitive as it’s ever been, the difference for us is that we have improved and play better than last season.
The good news is also that the competition between our players is very noticeable and when certain injured players do come back, it will be a very healthy Leeds United.
