I agree with the observations over Southampton and Ipswich just being sacrificial lambs to the slaughter in the Premier League and both will do well to not get relegated with embarrassingly low points totals similar to that sorry effort of Derby County many moons ago.

I think Southampton may as well keep Martin because not even Pep could rescue them and at least with continuity they have a better chance of bouncing back and the same goes for Ipswich.

I sat at the end of the Wembley play off final virtually a lone Leeds spectator watching all the Southampton jubilant celebrations in stunned envy but did wonder whether it would be a poison chalice and they'd soon be struggling in their new Premier league environment and they would be jealously looking at us enjoying the opposite of emotions having a whale of a time in the Champiinship.

It's looking like we are going to be a stronger side in my opinion and better equipped to survive in the EPL if we do make that jump next season plus the draw of Leeds United I think will attract a better calibre and quality of new player than most if not all promoted clubs and why I don't think we will have the same struggle as Southampton and Ipswich are experiencing.

I'd like to say my heart bleeds for those two clubs who pipped us for promotion and gloated about it. but I'm not going to as that's just the way the old cookie crumbles and so I say to them, suck it up buttercup and watch us soar. it's character building for you!

Agree7 Disagree0

I for one, will chuckle if we pass Ipswich and Southampton on the way to the premier league as they get relegated. Next season would be fun to watch both teams scramble, especially Southampton who lucked into a promotion from poor end of season form from Leeds, Ipswich a d Leicester and then being gifted Leeds in the play off final.

Oh well.

Excellent post Cheshire.

20 Oct 2024 13:04:35
Please can we have a bit of decorum of think about poor old baz the ipwisch fan who can’t be enjoying reading this Alfred gloating all last season about his team doing better than leeds.

20 Oct 2024 13:32:42
I think more understanding of the difference in quality is more appropriate. Ipswich were lucky lucky lucky last year and Southampton edged us. But don’t mock them. It is highly likely we will pass them by at the end of the season on our voyage to to the promise land. But.

20 Oct 2024 14:55:05
I have disliked Southampton since the 70s. so dem stuggling this season is super duper. they are R " gonners" imo

I respect and am impressed by the Ipswich manager for successive promotions

and they have been really punching above their weight . It would still not surprise me if Ipswich just about avoided R in EPL this season.

. literally by a couple of points.

but they will definitely need to fairly considerably raise their game even more so to achieve this!

20 Oct 2024 14:56:39
3 2 1 . right on cue its Berma.

Baz definitely living in Bermas head ??.

20 Oct 2024 16:34:36
Of course baz when ever I see a tractor, hear an Ed sheran song, see two cousins kissing or tread in dog mess. I always think of you.

20 Oct 2024 16:39:42
Last season's playoff between us and saints was 1 of worst games of football unseen in many years

You just knew whoever was going up from those 2 with that showing was definitely going to be in serious trouble in prem

Turns out we may have been the luckier

It's a funny old game.

20 Oct 2024 16:49:07
??? won't get relegated this season as per my prediction from beginning of season, as everyone well knows especially Aus.

20 Oct 2024 16:55:28
Baz, Berm has a difficult one first week of Nov - LUFC or the wall - who do you think he’s pulling for?

20 Oct 2024 17:35:28
Think you'll find plenty of the last item in Bermondsey Berma.

20 Oct 2024 19:01:52
I will be in the players lounge as always cheering in the super leeds! It doesn’t go down well but I’ve suffered a lot at the den over the years but unlike leeds often do, I don’t bottle it in south London.

20 Oct 2024 20:05:36
Bottling, perhaps not. Welching ? yes.

20 Oct 2024 21:18:40
Coke in George we still on a joking retort made years ago which I back up by only an idiot and useless England manager

Now to present day your beloved, the tweedledee to your tweedle dum has out right bottle a bet with me on this site.

20 Oct 2024 21:52:09
Berm mate I was right on your side until you let yourself down.
Leeds may have lost a few games at the den but to say they’ve bottled it. Do me a favour.
You actually do sound like millwally fan by saying that!

20 Oct 2024 22:32:43
Berma,

1) Firstly, due to your notorious welching; a bet with you therefore is at the very least questionable

2) Secondly, I forecasted at start of season Leeds would go up; yet you want me to back against that

Give yer head a wobble.

20 Oct 2024 22:34:51
Corkster, one thing is for sure;

Berma is far more a Millwall fan than I am ever an Ipswich fan.

21 Oct 2024 01:32:03
Sorry cork I do apologise!

To be honest I go a lot of leeds games in London and we don’t like the capital and it does seem like we often fall apart in london what was our record like under Belisa in London wasn’t it something like 30 games without a win?

Same at the den the only two winns in last 14 years I missed but I’m there for the awful draws and defeats

And baz I admit unless playing leeds I am a wall fan, I love the club, the area as I’m born and bread bermondsey. My freinds and family are wall and I even good mates with one of the players

The difference is I never predicted them to do better than us (even in leauge one play offs) and I certainly wouldn’t gloat if they went up and we didn’t

But I’d admit I’d be delighted if leeds and walk
Both got promoted to the prem.

21 Oct 2024 02:17:57
Err Berma you have stated on here Leeds will come 2nd this season . so on the contrary you have therefore evidently predicted a club will " do better than Leeds "

21 Oct 2024 02:21:26
. and Berma you go to Leeds matches in London.

in which case have not ever watched Leeds win at Chelsea for starters 5 times in the 90s, 4 times in 70s etc .

21 Oct 2024 08:22:10
I was born in 83 mate so know don’t remember the 70s

I did see one of them wins at Stanford bridge 93 I think and a few wins at selhurst park and a great win at charlton but normally we don’t do well in the capitol unless your going on about ancient history.

21 Oct 2024 08:31:45
Baz - In your eternal desperation for ‘point scoring’ against other posters, you seem to be deliberately misreading Berm’s post - he said he never predicted Wall to finish above us, not that the never predicted that anyone would finish above us. It’s those kinds of pointless jibes that make it harder to take much of what you say in any way seriously.

If you learned to wind your neck in a little it would probably make things a lot better for all of us - including yourself.

21 Oct 2024 09:10:21
Cheers clue,

To be honest it use to annoy me like treading on Lego now I just find it funny. He clearly needs a hug.

21 Oct 2024 09:41:15
You first bermo.

21 Oct 2024 10:46:25
Clu. Berma posts ( plural) above and previously refer to me as (incorrectly of course ) " an. Ipswich fan who predicted Ipswich to finish above Leeds. %

Hence Berma's comparison " the difference is".

As otherwise his post makes no sense at all.

Take yer pick?.

21 Oct 2024 10:48:09
You look older Bermo!
Clearly a hard life being a Wall fan ?.

21 Oct 2024 11:35:34
That really made me laugh aus

I do look older but you know because I show my face and don’t hide behind the keyboard like some warrior with a cause or clue as the case is hey baz.

21 Oct 2024 12:25:49
You don't look a day over 55 Berma. All good.

21 Oct 2024 13:36:44
Im not sure any fan would regret winning promotion as you do get to build a better squad, generate a lot more income and renew parachute funding if you do go down. I think most fans would be realistic as well about their chances. Ipswich particularly know they went up ahead of their own schedule and have planned for relegation by purchasing players who are well suited to The Champ to try and get them straight back up should they get relegated and the fans will know this. I guess its all about managing expectations but I very much doubt they will be regretting the promotion.

22 Oct 2024 07:12:35
Ipswich’s midfield is far too weak, they need to play a three man midfield to have any chance of survival but McKenna is sticking with his system.
Guaranteed relegation fodder, never easy to bounce back even with parachute money.
Premiership survival is always paramount.

22 Oct 2024 12:40:26
Haha . that's Ipswich guaranteed safe then ??.
