So massive game Friday night whereby if we should lose we are 6 points behind the autos and effectively playing catch up and chasing the top 2 like last season albeit not quite the gap we had to hunt down with Leicester but a significant gap nonetheless.

I wonder how the owners will view their apparent reluctance to seal the Hamer deal for another £5million as they witness arguably the best and most creative Championship player orchestrate a win for the Blades on our own patch to the taunts from away supporters of Leeds are falling apart again?

I wonder how the Elland Road faithful will react to a damaging home defeat with a squad down to the bare bones as a consequence of our owners repeated ruluctance to strengthen in key areas in numerous transfer windows despite supporters warnings and fears that said squad was not sufficient in numbers?

In other words a lot is riding on Friday night and hopefully we all witness a magnificent reaction to the Sunderland calamatious finale but if we don't. Oh dear oh dear oh dear and deja vu with knobs on me thinks!

I think not buying Hamer the biggest mistake since selling cantona, kewell and emptying heir marsh.
Whether it comes back and haunts us time will tell.
But the rudeness of the offer was akin to 10c bringing Ronaldo on as a 89th min sub. Obscene.

Clearly that’s looking on the very glum side of things, what if we win? All’s well at Leeds united and no need for Hamer. We’ll also have James and Solomon back which will be a big boost for the team.
I don’t think either will start but it’s an added bonus that they’ll be back.
It will be a very tough game but one we can win.

Piroe has scored the same amount of goals as Hamer, in less that a third of the minutes on the pitch. I would have liked Hamer, but I don't think its been a big deal so far [unless he scores against us! ].

Lets pretend (PR Radz style) SF49ers had put in an actual mote realistic to be accepted genuine offer of say £18 million plus

Even. at £18 million plus I think Sheff Utd would still of baulked at letting their best player go to probably their strongest rival LUFVlC for Champo top spot.

And Hamer no longer had an active release clause so nowt could be forced through either

No. the Leeds hierarchy should have recruited an attainable alternative! . that was one of their big mistakes (along with foolishly not recruiting a good goalie to replace Meslier) !

Well at least we have Super Danny James to come back in!

DJ must start for Leeds on Friday to have best chance to beat Sheff Utd. imo

. as Sheff U first 11 is arguably equal in ability and strength to Leeds first 11 . no other Champo clubs are.

One hopes that home advantage is just enough for LUFC an absolutely must win match imo!

Unpopular take but we don't need him. Relying on one or a couple of players cost us promotion last season.

Our squad just won (regardless of FT scoreline) at Sunderland. We were missing our four best players, away to the top of the table, who hadn't had a goal put in the back of their net until might Leeds showed up and sunk 2.
So badly we beat them that the stadium emptied out on the EIGHTIETH minute.

Our squad is coming together and if our current, broken squad that can beat the best is the B team, you better believe we will be sinking goals for fun.

MJ got a hattrick for Spain, he will be flying high come game time Friday.

If we do buy players in January, we should splash out and buy premier league players ready for our promotion.

I'm hoping my low expectations of a Leeds victory on Friday night will have the opposite effect and we perform equally as impressively as we did bar the first 15 minutes against Sunderland but I think many of us are frustrated at the club's approach during the last transfer window where it seemed only the absolute minimum quota of signings were made leaving no scope provision or wiggle room if you like for the injury pile up we have now.

We are just about hanging in there with the squad we have left and available now and as long as no other injury crisis strikes then we should be able to cope until January but for me it's been a scenario that could have been avoided if like Baz says we had at least got an extra midfield general if Hamer wasn't viable or realistic after Hamers transfer release clause was I think carelessly missed/ overlooked.

I do think in a bizarre way despite the loss in the summer of key star players we have actually replaced them well with much cheaper alternatives even though Solomon's injury record is a bit dodgy to say the least, but imo we failed to bolster up the squad with that marquee signing that Hamer would have been or the other Hungarian midfielder that opted to play in Turkey but fingers crossed that doesn't come to bite us in the nether regions and we are all enjoying seeing Leeds United sitting proudly on top of the Table around 10pmish Friday night. and oh yes Meslier keeps a clean sheet!

Very good post CW

It certainly feels to many Mr Marathe and his investors are trying to obtain promotion on cheap / bare minimum

This years Champo should have been a sure fire slam dunk for LUFC . but it's not.

I don’t get the, why didn’t we buy fifteen players in the the transfer window? Maybe PSR is a reason.
Are Leeds United an exception and we can just Spend, Spend, Spend with no accountability?

15 Oct 2024 20:28:13
Guaranteed promotions Baz don’t exist, try to be a little more realistic, if that’s ever possible?

15 Oct 2024 21:18:50
But you forecasted us being Champions Baz, with the team and squad decided upon? Nothing changed, not even your tune.

15 Oct 2024 23:14:09
It was, I vaguely recall, reported that Hamer’s release clause related only to a bid from a Prem club, and if so, Leeds wouldn’t have been able to trigger it anyway.

15 Oct 2024 23:18:21
Give it a rest Baz.
Who was your suitable alternative to Hamer? Give us a name and why.

16 Oct 2024 00:31:38
OP : LUFC bid £13 million on Hamer so at least £13 million funds are available; Better recruitment/ better players would make promotion more likely . would that not be better?

Ani Gonner yep I forecasted Leeds to be Champo Champions but by a mere whisker . by a couple of points at most ; but it would NOT surprise me at all if they bottled it again and finished 3rd or 4th

Corkster ; are you saying there was no suitable alternative anywhere in Europe, South America etc? Give over fella!

16 Oct 2024 03:02:43
It was reported that Hamer was keen on the move so release clause irrelevant. If we had bid a proper amount more than likely we would have got him.

16 Oct 2024 06:33:43
Again, it’s all hearsay on Hamer, no one really knows any concrete facts about this supposed deal that didn’t happen and maybe never really was a serious bid.
Clearly Gus Hamer is worth a lot more than 13Mil and I don’t really understand why that bid was ever put forward because there was no way on earth that the blunts were ever going to say yes to it.

Me suspects that the bid was not serious and was no more than a little pre season gamesmanship between Wilder and Leeds, it certainly rattled Wilder at the time and that was retaliation for comments he made about Leeds beforehand.

Basically we didn’t have 13 Mil to spend on Hamer in the first place and Leeds were not serious about bringing him to Elland road.

16 Oct 2024 08:55:45
Yeah Opti. Will prob never know the truth. That low must have been a wind up. Bit unfair on the player though and as prev said. Let’s hope it dosent come back to bite us. You can bet your wife wilder will use it to motivate him.

16 Oct 2024 09:23:52
OP - Zian Flemming is possibly not better than Hamer, but was perhaps more realistic, and he’s more versatile, with decent numbers of starts at AM, CM and CF, and starts in 6 other positions and with decent goal and assist figures in the Champ for Millwall. He was clearly very keen to leave that club as he was allowed to go on loan to Burnley. He was evidently not bothered at the prospect of having to compete for starts as there’s 2 other AMs there plus Brownhill who has also played in that position. He may currently be playing second fiddle to Mjebri, but I’d have been very happy to see us sign the lad. He’s even played at DM 5 times, and at CB 8 times, so could have offered an option in our current injury crisis if needed.
