Hi Guys,
Don't post much on here but have a read every day.
having been a supporter of the mighty leeds for nearly 50 years. i don't generally comment about our ups and downs, but i refer back to my post on here on 20 Dec 23 about Mez being the weakest link.
How is it possible that no one on the management team or owners cannot see this. This guy in my opinion has cost us time and time again and maybe cost us promotion last time. i know there are some stato's on here but Jeez, come on, one howler is enough but 20 or so. i rest my case. i will reiterate again. just my view,

Fed up with this mez hate
That save in first half was world class no other keeper makes that. He then took a blow to the head. Aus saying he should take himself off and others moaning at him.
I’ve had connsission twice, both times I never realised o had it and it is awful. The ref and medical team are to blame. Not farke not mez
Mez is current goalkeeper of the year and will probably get it this year as well.
05 Oct 2024 10:34:12
It's not Hate Bermo, far from it. and sorry to say but Aus is correct what he says in his earlier post.
05 Oct 2024 10:42:11
Great post Revie the Great.
Culpabiility on not upgrading a serious liability Meslier and signing a woeful number 2 in Darlow
is directly on our owners Marathe and co, the manager Farke and the reruitment team
And as for our queastionable for yeaea medical team and physios with the latest in allowing Ampadu in particular to go back on pitch no doubt worsening his injury .
if Redbull were our owners I am sure that there would be a major upgrade on medical, physio, performance analysis etc within club .
Jury is seriously out for me on our current owners.
05 Oct 2024 10:45:49
Revie . Bermas posts are more and more delusional.
05 Oct 2024 10:46:09
Aus is right to say if you're concussed, for which the definition is a blow to the head causing confusion. It’s up to you (the confused one) to call the shots?
Do you realise how idiotic that statement is?
I’ve been concussed twice. I didn’t know what day of the week it is. That's why boxers have people with towels in the corner. It’s up to the corner to throw in the towel, not the boxer.
Sorry but this is blind hate and biased leading to stupid posts, got to be called out for what it is.
05 Oct 2024 11:02:30
Don’t know what day of the week it is but all good to carry on playing a professional game berm. Spot on.
05 Oct 2024 11:04:16
Sorry Berm where is Mezz goalkeeper of the year?
EFL championship keepers of the year past two seasons.
22/ 23 -Victor Johhanson went to Stoke for only £1mill
23/ 24 - Mats Hermandsen Leicester
By comparison Hermandsen had an expected save rating of +7.0 for the season meaning Leicester conceded seven less goals than expected, Ilan was - 4.5 for the same season.
This season to date Ilan is currently ranked bottom seven for expected saves.
It’s not hate, it’s genuine concern, it’s no different to the hate/ concern Bamford is exposed too. They both play in the most high profile positions of any player for any team GK&CF
Ilan seems a lovely lad and I don’t buy the rubbish spoken about him grinning with his old boss after the game the lad was beyond embarrassed and clearly upset.
I think he’s in the top three keepers in this league for reaction shot stopping and 1v1’s BUT he does have fundamental technical flaws and nobody cannot deny he has the potential for a significant error in him, every game.
But you’re correct Berm, in that Farke rates him as highly as you do and has frequently stated he considers Ilan the best in this league and that means he will be there until Farke leaves whenever that may be.
But for me and a lot of other people, fans pundits journalists there are ongoing doubts and concerns about Illan and I understand people wishing to share it, I have never supported personal attacks on the still very young man, but people have a right to express their concerns, especially for a player in such a critical position.
05 Oct 2024 11:04:29
I agree with you Bermo. Some on here just hate for the sake of it.
Some here would have their hearts take a little leap last night with his mistake, because they knew they had a excuse to rant.
05 Oct 2024 11:08:45
Great post Class.
05 Oct 2024 11:11:14
The irony of Bermos posts given his self proclaimed " hate " ( his own word) for Bielsa and KP.
05 Oct 2024 11:11:31
Agreed Bermo, let's see a bit of perspective here. Yes it was a howler but if we dropped a player that missed a sitter or even miskicked a through ball then we would have a massive problem, picking a team? Let's learn regroup and go again.
05 Oct 2024 11:18:36
You can hat mez for being a crap goal keeper all day long.
What happened yesterday wasn't a blinder of a bad keeper.
They tried making excuses about ball spin and divers but meslier went to pick the ball up like a five year old - knees bent, legs open, scooping with arms from the side not under it. He should have jumped on top of it but if his brain was fried from taking a knee to the head then it would explain it.
I hope those who criticise Mez see that this incident was more than likely a medical issue. In hindsight all is great; he should have been subbed, the med staff should have done more.
However, our priority now in the aftermath should be the health and well being of a LEEDS PLAYER, regardless of how we feel about his abilities. I hope he is given a full medical check including MRI/ cat scan and I hope his health is ok. Maybe, the knee to the head may knock some sense into him and he comes back a better goalie.
05 Oct 2024 11:30:51
Baz so Dan James hitting the bar in the play off final wasn’t something you would consider that cost us enormously, promotion!
Why in your accusative mind would this not be worse than Meslier’s error.
Farke will not be offloading Mez and I for one am very happy about that.
Good luck to Mez hope he recovers from that because it must have hurt a lot to have let down his team mates and the fans.
Still the best keeper in this league.
05 Oct 2024 11:47:41
OP you really are clutching at straws.
Leeds players CS, GR, WF had done nowt all game in even trying to score in Play Off final
DJ cones on . the only player looking to score beats a man. takes a very good shot from 2O yard out ( not a 2 yard sitter) which cannons off the underside of bar bouncing down on goal line
Millimetres
Try again OP ?.
05 Oct 2024 11:51:10
. if Leeds don't go up Farke will get the sack by end of season.
Mes will leave end of season.
05 Oct 2024 12:10:02
Up till the mistake I thought mes played well last. He was unlucky with rebound on the first goal but it was a cracking save.
The mistake for the second was a little bizarre. He seems in his movement to go past the ball. Not picking up the flight of the ball. Did the flick off firpos head make ball dip sooner than he expected? Was his head still foggy after the collision with struijk?
The ball did not seem to spinning enough for it to kick up or spin past him. I could not see any turf or divots that it hit.
Even with these new protocols about head injuries very few players go off after knocks to the head. It might just be that split second of picking the flight of ball or touch of blurred or double vision. That did him.
But like the Paul Robinson Air kick or the nigel Martin one were it bobbled over his shoulder keepers rarely get away with things like that.
Was mes 100% that last 10 mins?
Should he have gone off?
Would darlow been 100% up to speed if he had been thrown on?
We have the point . Far more good parts to take from the game than bad. Disappointing but a lot of season to go. Hopefully a few players back for the next one.
05 Oct 2024 12:12:37
And OP feel free to continue to stick your head in the sand but when posters such as Dill and Class have serious doubts on Meslier. then be sure there really must be an issue with him.
05 Oct 2024 12:29:45
On the contrary Auntie Baz, my head far from being in the sand. Dill and Class are entitled to their opinions as we all are. However you seem to feel that your opinion is only the correct one and you are incapable respecting others.
That is your problem, not mine.
05 Oct 2024 12:33:07
Yea Baz, but then there's posters like you that brings it all back in doubt. No one argues Mes made a mistake and no one is arguing that he's the greatest keeper in the history of football. He's our keeper, the best we've got and the only one we have for the foreseeable. The constant ranting about is dull at best and miserable and tiresome for the forum. Dill and class are great respected posters, but that doesn't mean they are exclusively right all the time, or everyone has to agree with them all of the time.
05 Oct 2024 12:39:43
Aus yes look at the statement he didn’t know what day of the week it was, so no he shouldn’t of carried on playing but probably didn’t realise it due to the concussion. Again it’s up to the medics to sun him, like the corner to throw in the towel not the boxer. It’s same principle and I don’t believe you can’t understand that logic your just choosing not to.
And where was mes goalkeeper of the year? At the end of season awards he made team of the year as voted for by his peers, journalists and managers. How can you not know that? It’s been mentioned on this site a lot he made team of the year.
Sorry this one is not an opinion up for debate the man had concussion should of been taken off and the goal was in no way his thought. How about one of you lot take a huge blow to the head and then drive a long didtance see how that works out?
05 Oct 2024 13:48:06
The issue Ani is not merely" Mes makes a mistake " as you put it
He has been making literallyb" constant" mistakes
in a very long list of matches over 3 years .
hence the " constant" concern. ŕè
And OP, the point is this is not just a Baz narrative re Meslier it is a narrative also held by tens of thousands of others . Leeds fans, fans of other clubs, journos etc.
05 Oct 2024 13:58:04
Great post Ani, I’m certainly more wrong than I’m right on here that’s a proven fact. And I’d love as much humble pie as I could possibly manage come end of the season.
Illan seems a lovely lad, and I hope he shoves it down all of the posters (including myself) throats.
People are right to say Bogle was missing on the cross for the first goal and BA could/ should have made it 3-1
Still an excellent away performance and Sunderland knew they were beyond lucky to have pinched a draw from certain defeat.
05 Oct 2024 14:30:28
I think you are seriously deranged bermo.
I don’t think you have any inkling regarding reality or truth.
You continue to sprout nonsense because you believe it’s right and a bit like baz and thatcher. Won’t be turned.
Others on here are open to opinions.
05 Oct 2024 14:52:41
. Class it's more that you very rarely if ever criticise Leeds players performances and abilities . you appear imo very reticent to do so
So your posts of criticisms over the seasons of Meslier ability and performances really stand out from your norm.
05 Oct 2024 14:56:23
Baz and The Iron Lady . what a combo.
05 Oct 2024 15:12:21
Baz i couldn’t give a monkey’s if your made up hundreds of thousands of fans journos pet dogs etc believe Mez should leave.
I don’t and I’m happy with that.
05 Oct 2024 15:18:25
Fair comment, It’s true Baz I’m normally very glass half full and I do not derive any sense of pleasure from criticising such a young keeper. I thought we had the next Courthois on our hands after Illan’s debut at Arsenal.
But for me Baz he’s just never kicked on, I fully accept he’s played behind some woeful defences and yes I’m first to admit my hero Bielsa was to blame for a lot of those heavy defeats.
He just worries me every game and that’s just my personal view, but I know he doesn’t mean to do these errors it’s just a mystery as to why Leeds United coaching staff, recruitment team seem to struggle in such a critical area of the pitch.
Michael Cooper signed by blunts from Plymouth for £2million (rising to a maximum of 4million) has some of the best stats in the championship this season and he’s exactly the type of young keeper we should be targeting for me Baz.
05 Oct 2024 15:40:39
Class post Class . well reasoned, . thoughtful, sincere, fair, unbiased.
05 Oct 2024 17:22:48
I’m deranged aus? Bit harsh.
Mez did get pfa goalkeeper of the year, that’s a fact. Boxers corners throw in the towel on the bases that the boxer getting hit is not fit to make the call, same logic the medical team should of pulled mez not mez dubbing himself as you stated
I don’t mind name calling but when facts are facts you just make yourself look dim witted.
05 Oct 2024 18:17:30
Defending Mes is a form of Stockholm Syndrome at this point. Sorry chaps.
05 Oct 2024 18:40:01
It comes to the fact that the medical team and or the players cannot 100% tell when concussion is or isn't affecting the judgement.
You can do the test on the sideline and 2 mins later a player can be affected.
Only way is automatic subs. Then it's out of all hands.
05 Oct 2024 21:50:04
What Dill said.
05 Oct 2024 21:56:17
OP Your DJ hit the bar comparison utterly ill-founded. No Leeds fan or neutral's first or final or in between reaction was oh that was bad by DJ, a mistake. Sure I'd have loved if his shot was 5 millimeters lower but it was an excellent effort from 20 yards.
Meschubkalier mistake was from 5 millimeters from the ball, not a 20 yard target. One was a very decent effort, the other was appalling.
I realize the realities of your duties but you may as well claim the moon is made of ?.
05 Oct 2024 22:50:02
What Dill said lol re Stockholm Syndrome
And indeed Georgey.
it was the most utterly unfounded nonsensical attempt at a comparison!
06 Oct 2024 14:08:21
The reality is the same George but most I agree will not agree with that, that’s why it’s so tough being a keeper because when he makes an error he will be condemned by the fans but an outfield player missing an important shot on goal or a penalty is not.
It’s just the way it is, is fair? To my mind it isn’t.
