Said on the live chat earlier, if Bamford missed the chance that MJ did, Bamford would have been slated, but he doesn't get the shite that Bamford would and it proper gripes me.
I have said on somany occasions, we are a far better team with Bamford in it, than whe he is not.

I wouldn't rake Bamford over the coals for missing a goal in the first minute of the first match back from international break.
I class MJs miss as unlucky, same way I did for arranson and as I would for Bamford.
Bamford is a better striker than Piroe when they're both on form.

Disagree. MJ missed a gilt-edged chance today and it was poor. But he plays the lone CF as good as Bamford while offering more as a pacier outlet. He presses, runs the channels well, has good off the ball movement and anticipation, better reaction times. He's more of an instinctive finisher than a composed one, but I'll take that over Bamford being neither.

Bamford has missed the same number of chances as games! Yes it was a poor miss by MJ but he has been brilliant thus far. IMO.

May I add, Bamford definitely would've got slated because he's got a long, illustrious and proven history of doing this regularly. MJ does not, so he will get more leeway.

Dougie, bit of context badly needed
Paddy apart. from 1st season back in prem has missed +missed +missed
So surely Joseph is entitled to that
Bad miss for sure, but Paddy's missed easier.

Not to mention that A. Bamford doesn't make that same tackle MJ did as he can't close down that defender because he's not as reactive or quick enough. And B. Even if by some chance he did win that tackle, he wouldn't have got that chance as he's not quick enough to leave the defenders behind to get into that goal scoring opportunity.

So now MJ is being defended, and in other posts, we needed to buy a proven striker which would have seen him on the bench, with restricted game time. Which one is it, or is it just conveniently “both”, so that the rhetoric can adapt to to the situation? I for one advocated MJ starting, and NOT spending a fortune on a proven goal scorer who would have his stifled his development and game time. Others seem to want both?

Joseph has been very good so far this season despite missing 3 excellent chance including today’s one.
The chance today wasn’t as easy as it looked. Always tough one on one with the keeper with defenders breathing down you neck after a long run towards goal. Too much time to think. Better strikers than MJ I’ve seen miss that kinda chance.
Don’t really see the point in bringing Bamford in to the missed chance conversation?

Paddy has missed and air kicked from millimeters under the bar. Paddy wouldn't have even made the run to the box.
14 Sep 2024 23:13:01
I don't think we are a better team if we swap out MJ for Bamford. And a back up CF who is reliably fit would've been nice.

Totally out of. context Brighty
I asked back in August what would happen once Joseph hit a bad spell?
You know. thw way people. on here ask
Well I just. provided. a. small bit. of balance to the IF Paddy missed that chance
My ideal scenario, WOULDN'T have had Joseph as our main striker now.
He's too inexperienced currently, he would learn a lot from a more prolific scorer IMO, ( not Paddy )
So don't get too upset at my post as it was just a reply, same way we all reply.

It is great to give MJ the opportunity he’s currently being given, however we can’t afford not get promoted this season so it’s a huge amount of pressure to place on a young player who was only given sympathy minutes last season - particularly as the backup options are Piroe, who Farke doesn’t fancy as a CF and the now almost perennially injured Bamford.
Given the amount of money we brought in for transfers, it’d probably have been best to pay off Bamford’s remaining contract and bring in another CF who can at the very least compete with MJ. As I said in the summer, I would have actually preferred us to bring in Haji Wright from Coventry who can genuinely play either on the wing or as a CF who can hold the ball up and is strong in the air, and is he’s rapid. Yes his first touch is sometimes not the best, but no worse than Bamford in every other way he’s an upgrade on him. He could have played on the wing to enable MJ to start, but also provide both backup and competition to the lad.

Agree class.

That’s fair enough of a response Chris, but don’t get too paranoid or defensive pal. My post was general, and again, not aimed directly, or solely at you! There are other posters on here!
