All this Bielsa talk got me thinking?
Bielsa in the championship every year just missing out on promotion or say big Sam or any equivalent in the EPL fighting relegation every season?
I know what I'd go for.
After all it's an entertainment business for me.

Agree12 Disagree2

05 Sep 2024 23:17:06
For me winning comes first . entertainment second . Big Sam gave neither.

06 Sep 2024 00:04:00
That wasn’t the question.

06 Sep 2024 00:26:08
Always more fun to be experiencing the excitement near top than the nervous tension of being near the bottom.

This is the principle George fails to grasp. Ofcourse challenging for the EPL is preferred but that is highly unlikely. ( cue the Leicester argument)

06 Sep 2024 00:31:48
Cork More information required. Does the EPL stint result in successful evasion of demotion?

If it does, the question boils down to perennial playoff heartbreak finalists vs Everton.

06 Sep 2024 00:37:21
Corky . as a Leeds fan brought up on winning matches . the 2021/ 22 and 2022/ 23 EPL R battle defeat fest seasons were tortuous. I loathed them

Gonner pass on this question though.

Because winning loads of matches but still never doing quite enough to go up is not a palatable situation either.

06 Sep 2024 02:18:09
1970 How do I fail to grasp? I disagree but understand the concept.

Advancing the argument I don't grasp the principle is devoid of all intellectual merit.

06 Sep 2024 03:38:57
Ah, but Georgie my somewhat erudite friend do you really grasp it!

06 Sep 2024 05:36:16
1869

Somewhat?

Friend?

06 Sep 2024 06:30:50
It’s why the vast majority of West Ham fans wanted Moyes out even though he won them a trophy in God knows how many years.
Entertainment every time for me and guess what, you can win whilst entertaining the fans as well.

06 Sep 2024 07:53:54
I get the question in theory and it is indeed a good thought provoking one.

I loved every minute in leauge one however football is about results.

An awful 1-0 win is always better than an entertaining 3-4 loss like the opening game against Liverpool under Belisa

I can not deny I loved some of the football we played under bubs, the stoke game was a breath of fresh air however the scars and sheer pain of the consistent thrashings hurt. I was at a party and we smaztched the spurs game live, I said we will be three nil down by 20 minutes, which we was. People were laughing and taking the mick, at 5 the laughing stopped and I just got pity

Results over entertainment every day of the week, anyone who says otherwise don’t really love leeds, if you love leeds tge pain of every loss hurts too much.

Also look at the cost of the entertainment Belisa gave us, four years 400 million or whatever you believe wasted leaving us in awful position.

We chased the dream twice at leeds and both times nearly killed us.

06 Sep 2024 08:20:40
Give me Marcelo everyday of the week. Until I see the actions of the 49ers in the EPL, I’m not even sure if we won’t just be fighting relegation again, and again, so in principle, I prefer the Champo anyway; it’s just a more exciting, competitive league. The bonus of Bielsaball would be a huge plus, although we have played, and do play, some good stuff under Farke.

06 Sep 2024 09:08:34
Good question Corky, Bielsa every time for me.

I’ve stated previously in this current scenario if someone offered me a free season ticket, travel accommodation everything thrown in to watch a Dyche Everton team over Farkey in the Championship I’ll take Farkey everytime.

I think it’s just a personal opinion as whether you wish to be entertained by your side or to reference boast of their achievements.

Strangely Citeh win everything but generally it’s accepted on here it’s because they cheat (financially)
But they play attacking football lots of goals and victories?

I’m sure the 1-0 Arsenal invincibles are fondly remembered by the Arsenal supporters but would I have wanted to watch that every single week?

No personally I believe football is still (for me) the beautiful game and case in point without Bazball reviving the England cricket test match team attendance and revenues were plummeting, to the point they wondered if we would lose test match cricket all together.

If it’s not enjoyable why watch it, life is too short.

George - I’m pretty sure 1970 was only using ‘friend’ in the loosest of senses, and why take umbrage at the term ‘somewhat erudite’? For all I know you may have great knowledge and learning, but to what extent do you believe you have actually shown such to 1970 and others on this forum? From what I have seen so far, you know quite a bit about our Club and football more widely, and you would seem to know your way around your emojis …. but that alone is not a demonstration of great knowledge and learning, indeed some might say 1970 was being kind with ‘somewhat’ from the available evidence. Your response could be seen to suggest you occasionally take yourself a little too seriously, while expecting others to take any of your barbs as mere jovial banter.

06 Sep 2024 10:11:52
In reference to being beaten by Liverpool 4-3 if it had been Dyche or Allardyce we would have still lost that game maybe 1-0 and bored the life out of our fans at the same time, defending the entire game trying to get a 0-0 draw.
That’s not entertainment and it’s not winning either.

06 Sep 2024 10:23:36
Totally exposed by Clu ???????with a shjtload of emoji’s ??.

06 Sep 2024 11:01:39
Spuds have never scored 5 goals against Leeds Berma.

06 Sep 2024 11:15:34
Baz so so wrong, think they did us five one the year we were champs.

06 Sep 2024 11:16:38
Of course we may of lost 1-0 under Dyce

My point is you want a manager to get the best out of his team . Belisa spent millions and wasted it alladyce often got the most of our his pennies not millions.

06 Sep 2024 11:34:46
No Berma . as usual. you be the one very much mistaken with your fantasy stats.

Since 1960 to 2024 Spuds have never scored 5 goals against Leeds United

Leeds however have beaten Spuds 5 nil in 1992.

06 Sep 2024 13:22:59
Cluey Careful what you wish for! I may not have shown all of my repertoire to the forum (nor do I need to) but I can assure you 1869 remarking "somewhat" was inaccurate and you'll simply have to trust me on that one. As for your claim others on here might assert that 1869 was being kind then in that case I've done a wonderful job concealing my abilities. Here's a bit of "friendly" advice for you - don't wound what you can't kill.

06 Sep 2024 13:31:18
Baz you are right to be honest it was such a disgrace under bubs at the end I switched off, 4-1 arsenal 7-0 against Liverpool 3-0 to a useless Everton it goes on

But as your a stickler I will point out it was 5-1 against spurs not 5-0 one goal makes a difference to you don’t it. I think it was Eric’s last hand but not sure.

06 Sep 2024 13:45:13
Auntie Baz clocking up the Stato’s, quite an entertaining day of posts I must say.
Whatever next?

06 Sep 2024 13:58:18
No worries Berma ; don't take any of your posts seriously. never have.

06 Sep 2024 15:27:27
Berm You are incorrect. 5-0 truth. 25th August 1992.

06 Sep 2024 20:06:30
I was there that day, certainly the high point of that season as we went on to have the poorest defence of a title ever. Ironically, after that result, Ferguson said we would win back to back titles!

06 Sep 2024 21:02:53
You’d take me seriously if we met baz and that is enough for me. Walk high and mighty on here I’m comfortable knowing the man you are in real life.

That’s enough comfort for me.
