Loan player with a knee injury who has only played 6/ 7 games coming in Really just don't get this most would stay away well away.
24 Aug 2024 17:30:37
Yep Whitey.
24 Aug 2024 18:38:50
Agree doesn't fill me with confidence still he can keep bamford company in the medical room.
24 Aug 2024 18:56:17
If he is injured he won’t pass the Medical.
24 Aug 2024 19:03:45
Completely agree. Massive gamble.
24 Aug 2024 19:28:05
Its not that he's injured now, Topman, it's the fact that he's had chronic and acute injures since 18/ 19 season that have seen him miss 84 games and 700 days of football. Most of those coming in the last two seasons.
He's injury prone. He's missed almost twice as many games as Bamford has in that time period.
24 Aug 2024 20:06:15
Seemingly no decision made at the moment but he is training with the squad. Presumably to see how far off the pace he is / isn’t.
24 Aug 2024 20:14:51
Yes Dill I see your point but hopefully he can get a season injury free . it’s a gamble but as it’s a loan if he picks up a long term injury he goes back to Spurs for rehab.
24 Aug 2024 20:17:21
100 Dill
I must say Dill your commonsense, logical posts are so throughly refreshing on this forum.
24 Aug 2024 20:24:29
That’s the spirit!
Spose we could stick with two keepers on our bench?
But if he IS due a run of good health isn’t great news for us, and if he very sadly breaks down injured he goes back to spuds, nothing stops us signing someone on top of this before the window closes.
24 Aug 2024 20:31:10
There must be some assurances linked to it, and a very low loan fee, so the risk, apart from a “loan in head” must be minimal? As others have said, an injury would lead to his departure, and I’m sure that will be covered by some clause or other.
24 Aug 2024 22:05:53
Good point Baz. Perhaps you could learn something by paying more attention to Dill’s common sense posts?
24 Aug 2024 22:35:16
Manor if he joins will be a bench and rotation option. He could put up some useful numbers if deployed correctly.
24 Aug 2024 22:45:28
Baz? Learn? Maybe twist the truth so it looks like he was right all along but you can't teach a very old dog new tricks so learning sadly out of the question.
24 Aug 2024 23:14:45
Brighteth
Actually, I pay the upmost attention and really like Dills posts and comment on and praise most of them!
Commonsense is my middle name fella .
Good try though Brighty ?.

He could tbf, George. It's just a massive risk trying to mitigate his injuries all season. We're going to be paying a loan fee and a hefty portion of his wages (heard more than 50%, so somewhere between 35-40k a week) which will mean that money isn't available for someone else once it's allocated. If he gets injured again it's been a massive waste of time and money that could've been better spent elsewhere.
Just hope it's the right decision. His saving grace is that he is a cracking player when fit so hopefully we get that and not the player of the past two seasons.
I have my reservations.
25 Aug 2024 06:38:07
I’m pretty sure he would be a player that could start games but be rarely used for the full 90mins.
If they managed his playing time wisely ie; Byram we could profit from a very useful player and could be the difference for us getting us promoted.
Worth a gamble in my opinion.
25 Aug 2024 09:59:00
Aren't loans always a bit of a gamble?
A player can be motivated and want game time and fitness at a lower level.
A player might want to kick-start a stalled career or put himself in the shop window. Or like rodon genuinely want a move to club he is being loaned to.
On the other side is a player like spence who is getting a good wage from his parent club and sees a loan a way of keeping the wage for least effort.
25 Aug 2024 10:29:33
Of course Ben, mate, but it's about mitigating the risk as much as you can.
We could sign a player without a woeful injury history and the risk would be far less than it is with this one.
25 Aug 2024 11:41:09
A very good perspective George!
25 Aug 2024 13:48:18
Dill there is always some reason a player is up for loan and not in the first team plans.
Returning from Injury is his.
I would rather recovery over attitude.
But we will see.
