A good performance tonight, controlled the game and made them look very average at home.
Thought the whole team had good games, james and gnoto looked on it and pity MJ didn't take that chance, great touch but went for power.
Great that BA scored but he's not the #10 we crave, too many times he picked up ball then went sideways or back, need that player that can turn and make things happen
Improvement from defense and bogle decent going forward.
A week off for players now and hopefully a big week of incomings, we have LR and possibly loan for Soloman, if we get him, that's takes care of wingers. Think we only then need 2 positions, CMF and a striker
(would still like GK)

Yeah. Generally a good performance. Few misplaced passes and inevitable goalie flap but good win.
Think they were poor.
Everyone put a shift in though.

Largely agree with Melbs post apart from new GK.
James and Willy were on it last night and terrorized their defense, James might not of had as much time as he did against a Premiership defense but still calmly executed.
Well taken goal also by Aaronson also but as Melbs has rightly pointed out he is not that number 10 that we now need, still far too lightweight in my opinion.
Wendies are a poor team and will be relegation fodder but it gave our defense more confidence and I can see that defense with Meslier conceding very few goals as the season progresses.
Rutter is going to be a difficult player to replace for his creativity, I’m not sure it’s going to be enough to solely rely on our wingers? As it’s been pointed out Aaronson is not a Pablo or Rutter, it is that player we need more than any other in my estimation before the transfer window closes.
Definitely a confidence building performance as we will need it against better opposition than the Wendies.

Also wanted to point out Joseph’s performance last night, lots of positives from him but his job is to score goals and has got to hone that over eagerness to do it, he should have scored and power was not the choice for his shot, by his reaction he knew it.
He’s very young and he will learn from that.

Excellent performance the team worked hard just wish Gornto would stop his Constant moaning put this effort into his game.
24 Aug 2024 07:24:24
Pretty elated about last night.
There were several very good performances across the team. We appeared to move the ball a bit quicker throughout, although we did recycle a little too much first half. The link up play was good to quality, at times. We didn't have much trouble building through the phases.
Enjoyed Aaronson at 10. His work rate was exceptional and built a good base for our pressing in their half. Gnonto started to revel in his freedom second half. DJ with some exceptional crosses. MJ did everything but score. I have plenty of faith in his ability, (although yh, Aus, 0/ 3 not ideal, but stick with him he will come good! 15+ imo) . Struijk had a great game and was unlucky not to score (think he'll chip in with 7 or more this season) .
2-0 win away at a rival is always nice so won't mention any negatives I noticed as today is about enjoying the win.
Cheers, boys hope you all enjoyed the game!

As Op said, Wendies absolute dog she-ite, so not a game to judge how well we played other than a welcome 3 points
Again signings desperately needed, But from where we have started a wins a win so got to take positives from that
Rothwell - Amps in middle for me.
24 Aug 2024 08:21:25
Disagree Chris x2, I think it’s exactly the game we need to judge how we played.
It’s a local derby against a big strong team, who took points off us last season.
They press as a team going forward and defend as a back line of 5 and sometimes 6, so difficult to penetrate in the last third, and despite those attributes, we stifled their press with some great defending by all of the back 4 (Bogles best game so far, both going forward and defending) , supported by Gruev and Amps, and attacked with purpose.
A definite change in game plan from DF in that we rarely went back to Meslier, and the focus was very much front foot and drive forward, which we haven’t done for some time under DF.
Though DJ and Willy were fabulous last night and both showing their speed and skills (and DJ’s touch for the first goal and his goal were fantastic) .
I thought BA had a good game, his pressing and relentless running and harassing really set the tone for quick football, and like everyone has said MJ was great but just needs that first goal to set his season on fire.
That was a potential banana skin last night, and we dominated and made them look a poor team.
Very pleased indeed.

Barry Bannan needs to let it go an all. Looks like a bird's nest on his swede.
24 Aug 2024 09:20:19
Was I the only one who saw Amps as our weak link last night?
Gassed often, wayward passes more than others, and dropped behind the back four too often to pick up the ball? I may just be being too harsh, but he ain’t filled me with confidence in MF yet.
Agree with Dill re moving the ball on quicker. That could be where we negate the impact of Gio’s departure; recycling the ball quicker, moving forward quicker and more dangerously and retaining possession. Just need that increase in passing accuracy.
Thought Gnonto and Gruev were excellent!
24 Aug 2024 09:37:32
Yh he was for me too, Brighty. Few lapses in concentration.
I'm thinking with Solomon likely coming that Gnonto is potentially going to be moved to 10. He played with a lot of freedom in that area last night as the game progresed, although he started out left.
I also think we need to start players according to how teams set up to give us the advantage. Last night a prime example. We pressed really well and Aaronson was key for that, but against teams that can pass better in their defensive third we could probably do with rotating someone else in there that will sit a bit further back when out of possession and create from a bit deeper, such as Rothwell. Almost a hybrid 8/ 10. Then you add Gnonto into the mix. Think we have options game to game in that area and it's about who's best for each particular opposition to get us an advantage, rather than rolling the same players out game to game and not targeting opponents weaker areas.

Was out at party so missed games but delighted with win and arsensin scoring two from three when he won’t played every minute has to be encouraging
I agree with siging a new keeper I was looking at the championship team of the year and think we should sign the keeper that the experts think is best in leauge
Anyone know much about him and who he plays for?
24 Aug 2024 10:28:41
Bermo, you do know that Meslier faced far less shots than all the other top 6 teams' goalkeepers yet percentage wise he saved less and had a worse goals prevented than 3 of them. So he's wasn't even the best keeper from those 6 teams never mind adding in the rest of the league with guys like Patterson, Rushworth, Johansson, etc, who played in teams with far worse defences yet outperformed Mes in most goalkeeping metrics.
His data shows him around midtable for the league, and that's with our defence. Put him in Plymouth's side or that Rotherham team from last season and he's cooked ??.
24 Aug 2024 10:38:14
Fair post from MG
More gaslighting from Berma re Le Gash
Well said Dill . Excellent FACTSb.
24 Aug 2024 11:34:57
MG your post is spot on ??.
24 Aug 2024 12:07:07
Baz and dill
I’m not making a comment about le gash. I’m talking about the player that the players and professionals voted as the best in the league. It can’t be le hash as it if was that would mean that none of them know what they are talking about?
Why would such a body of knowledge people pick le gash as the best?
Dill stats in goalkeepers and any players can be miss leading.
The savecagainst West Brom and especially the one against lesciter is why he is the best but that’s only my opinion what do I know? Best listen to the pros.
24 Aug 2024 12:31:46
Berma . wayyy prefer to rely on ALL facts stats over opinions of footballers ( many of whom aren't tbe brightest)
and more pertinently I can guarantee not one of them Champo players had the time nor inclination to watch even a small fraction of ALL 46 league games of Le Gash let alone all 46 league games of every other Champo gk to compare
No doubt looking at his " clean sheets " fooled em with their vote.
24 Aug 2024 13:59:17
Bored to death of the Meslier debate, he’s staying and no Leeds coach so far wants to get rid of him.
Get used to it.
Maybe the coaches know better, bar Marsch.
24 Aug 2024 14:27:44
Baz I’ll take footballers opinions and pundits and managers…. Over yours
Second set to berm!
24 Aug 2024 14:36:54
Berma . its literally thousands of Leeds United fans that don't rate Le Gash Meslier
Even other clubs and their fans don't rate Meslier. "Leeds weakest link"
Bottom line . no other club has ever bid for world class Le Gash . and that's most telling of all fella!
End of debate.
24 Aug 2024 15:00:03
But, the fact still remains that his peers voted him #1.
24 Aug 2024 15:34:36
Brighteth. maybe they had bets on Mes getting into team of year lol ? ?
#footballerslurveabet
But back to being serious . no club wants to buy Meslier. end of.
24 Aug 2024 20:46:35
Let’s just "end of" your overwhelming stupidity Baz, De Zerbi at OM inquired about Meslier’s value, Leeds responded with a 20 Mil price tag which was an over valuation because they don’t want to sell him for less than top dollar.
You are no different from a sheep, you just follow without knowing anything.
