Interesting stats …what does the (45%) mean against dribbles Aft? Successful?

? A decent acquisition for this level imo.

Gotta take into account he was at a dogsh! t La Liga side. Harder to put the kind of numbers up I'm sure we'd all like to see. But at a struggling side it's decent enough at a higher level that we are currently at. He has the ability to tear it up at champo level and I'm pretty confident most of you will be pleased when you see him play.

Ani A successful dribble means he travelled with the ball past a player who was ostensibly challenging to stop or dispossess him.

Tend to agree George. I don’t know how the 2nd tier in Spain lines up with the championship, but he stats there were pretty good.

Didn't he score against Real Madrid.
If it was him, it was a Summerville esk goal too.
21 Aug 2024 22:39:02
Ani I think it means 45% of his dribbles were successful. He was in la liga last year not 2nd tier - they got relegated.
21 Aug 2024 22:40:55
Dill I hear he’s more of a defensive wide player than a Summerville type?
21 Aug 2024 22:54:28
George I know that…. does the 45% mean they were successful 45% of the time he attempted a dribble? That what I was asking. If that’s the case, they must be better that Rutter’s stats as I can’t believe he succeeded 1 in 2 times.
21 Aug 2024 23:04:20
Yes Aft, but most of his goals were in their second division. I appreciate he was in La Liga but his goal involvement no as good (understandably) at the higher level.

You hear wrong Cork. He's very much an attacking outlet. A speedy, vertical runner that loves to dribble at people. He does however have the engine to get back and help out defending and he's more proactive than Summerville is there tbh.
22 Aug 2024 05:22:34
He's more of an 'isolate and beat your man one on one' kinda player, Ani, so seems possible. Rutter was tryna dribble against 2 or 3 at times.
22 Aug 2024 06:43:47
He's only 23 though Ani so difficult to use prior performance as an indicator for how he will be now. He is very similar to Summerville in terms of attacking and can beat players like Rutter. Huge potential and could be a very astute signing for £10m up front.
22 Aug 2024 07:26:14
Just checked, Ani. FBRef has Rutter at 45.4% successful take-ons, whereas FootyStats has him at 48.36% successful dribbles.

Agreed there Alf. Did well at youth level at Manc B. Does a nice somersault after scoring, which will need banning immediately if he comes to us and our injuries record!
Actually quite happy with this one. Like Dill says, he should rip it up in this league. Like having an in form DJ on both wings, so defences will need nappies!
Might give an opportunity for Willy at 10? I do think he has the passing and vision to play that role, plus the energy.
22 Aug 2024 08:09:27
Interesting Alf…. I wonder how they construct those stats? I could believe Rutter beat his first man 80% of the time, the 2nd and even the 3rd, 50% of the time, but then lose the ball. Are these stats successfully completed dribbles?

Check FBRef, Ani, and go to the players scouting report and open the full report. It's very comprehensive and one of my go to tools for collating player info.
