I think we all were spoiled with MB ball, and expect the team to be on the front foot all the time. Unfortunately we are not in those days anymore, and we have a team that maybe is just starting to believe in themselves. The positives that I took from todays game, is that
1) it was a clean sheet away from home
2) it was a clean sheet after giving the ball away so cheaply
3) they can control the ball for long periods of time. eating the clock up away from home
4) Amps started playing, instead of hiding in the back
5) We actually looked dangerous from set pieces and somehow we've figured out how to take a corner

There are still a bunch of passengers on the team, and those who still want away and while it was really boring to watch today a point is a point away from home

I know we'll get some deals done in the next couple of weeks, just hope they are not more passengers and DF gets what he needs

MOT.

Feels like there's some middle round between Bielsaball and what we witnessed today, though, surely? Two opposite ends of the spectrum, and it's been like that for some time now. We look neutered as a threat *most* of the past 13 games. Farke has had the personnel to implement something more attacking and aesthtic, but his system of possession dominance and ball recycling without meaningful penetration is just plain boring to watch. It's the same passages of play on a repeat cycle throughout the game. It's beyond frustrating.

17 Aug 2024 21:21:46
I do agree with your numbered points, though. It did show those things, but still a horrendous watch. Although still think Amps dropped in more than I'd like him to.

Concur White

We dealt with the set piece relatively well
We at least look more threatening from our own.

Both small improvements over last season, but for now other elements of our game have regressed. Hopefully that can be addressed in the next couple of weeks.

Our strongest team as it is, is probably going to be difficult to beat, but at the same time we’re not going to win as many as we might hope.

Cheer up lads, keep the faith, intrigued to see IF there is gonner be some significant incomings now.

17 Aug 2024 22:33:50
What Dill and Baz say.

17 Aug 2024 23:29:22
Today was just horrendous.
Please stop saying oh at least clean sheet

That conclusion is equivalent to Tuesday follows Monday .

We all believe, we are a big club .
On that display we are Dagenham and Redbridge , my eyes will never unseen that dog she-ite.

17 Aug 2024 23:49:31
The bonus is that the fans boo'd every time the defence passed it back to mes.

There were a few times when we killed our own momentum today. Rarely should We pass back while on the front foot.

18 Aug 2024 00:43:32
but Chrissy the clean sheet was the decent to good part .

. the problem today specifically was Leeds could have been playing to Bonfire night and still not have scored.

18 Aug 2024 01:20:58
Goals drying up might be down to our highest goal scorer and our top assist and creative players leaving the club. Very important to tighten up our defense as we’ve leaked six goals in our previous two games.

18 Aug 2024 05:19:33
You think Opti?
Add to the fact we still haven’t replaced any of them.

18 Aug 2024 06:38:20
As I said in live chat, having been shot in the heart, and had the rug truly pulled from beneath it, that squad could have capitulated from the first whistle. Most were expecting it. They didn’t. They fought, they battled, they pressed, and even Mez got a couple of great clearing punches in.

Those long throws would have normally caused panic and chaos in our defence; they didn’t. We defended them well, and cleared our lines.
It would also be perfectly understandable for Bogle and Rodon to be thinking we are a set of sheisters, having signed, no doubt with the promise of a bigger squad, and talented players, only to have the opposite!

To me, that could yet prove to be a very valuable point, at a tough place to get points, and we should be pleased we didn’t just roll over and take it batty style!
Not pretty, but we only have one pretty boy left, and I’m sat here!

That's why Farke needs to be better tactically knowing he's lost his creative players. Instead he decided to play Piroe at 10, which hadn't worked pretty much every game he's played there. There was zero ability ro shift between phases of play and get the ball into meaning full places in the attacking third. Even losing those players, six touches in the opposing box is unacceptable given the payers we have. The losses of players are only compounding and amplifying Farke's capabilities.

18 Aug 2024 08:06:54
Just look at how many we have been linked with and what have we go ?all.

18 Aug 2024 08:23:10
Put Willy at 10 temporarily, and BA on the left. Have them interchanging. Both high energy players, who can make space for themselves, and get things moving. Better than the Statue of Piroe.

18 Aug 2024 08:26:20
Dill Your last sentence particularly telling and pertinent.

18 Aug 2024 08:48:33
Look, we’re all frustrated by recent events and the fact they haven’t been replaced yet.
Farke has already mentioned in his interview that he has four players on his wishlist, 2 attackers, midfield player and a CB. He admits he might not get all he wants but we’ll have to wait and see.

Nothing Farke can do about the outgoings of Gray, Rutter and Jimmy and now has to readjust the team a deal with what he’s got for the moment.

I didn’t hear anyone complaining about that club record breaking run of wins last season using the very same tactics, so why complain now?

If Farke got 90 points for us last season using these same tactics that some condemn now, he can more than likely do it again this season, or better and that’s with different players to Rutter and Summerville who let’s be honest, choked with their inexperience when it really mattered.

The negativity on this forum is understandable but a bit over the top in my estimation.

Didn’t know most Leeds fans complain so much, or is that just on here?
Have we already forgotten GFH, Papa Smurf and Psyco Cellino, those were the days we should have been more vocal with our complaints, but as far as remember, we weren’t!

18 Aug 2024 09:18:09
Definitely frustrated, mate. But with good cause. Personally I don't think we should be accepting mediocrity. We've been promised more from the club. We've had the squad to do more and we appear to be regressing in several areas.

Losing our best players. Manager running our of ideas. Incomings pending, where is the good news to look forward to?

A fair few of us highlighted some of Farkes faults last season, but we had the squad to cope with it. Can't say the same at this moment. It's going to be really tough if we base things on this season's performances so far.

I'm happy for Farke to stay if he starts showing the versatility needed in games when it's needed. Historically he's not shown he can do that, so where does that leave us.

18 Aug 2024 09:32:13
Still think 343 or 3421 is the way to get the best out of the players at Farke's disposal. We are playing wing backs at full back atm. Two defensively minded CMs. Wingers that don't cross and a 10 that is anonymous until he touches the ball and then loses it.

Use the players we have to the benefit of the team. Our first 11 is capable of turning over teams if utilised correctly.

Rodon, Struijk and Wober at CB. Let Struijk break the lines when he has the opportunity as he has a capable passing range.

Firpo and Bogle at WBs providing width with overlaps. Pepper the box with crosses to force defenders turn and face goal. They would also then invert defensively when a CB breaks the line and steps out.

Have Amps as a deep lying playmaker and disruptor. Do not want him dropping back into the defensive line.

Start Rothwell to help shift between phases of play between the middle and attacking thirds. Set pieces sorted.

Have two 10s that have a largely free role in the half spaces and between the lines. Movement and tempo is key.

Joseph up top looking to play touch football with the 10s and get on the end of teasing crosses from the WBs.

Quicker tempo needed. Better in game management needed, too. Read the game and apply changes that can affect it tactically rather than slinging players on and hoping for the best. There needs to be a concise plan for the subs that are utilised. It doesn't feel like that at all atm. Everything is so pedestrian and witless.

Excellent posts Dill . without doubt possibly most logical, easily the most knowledgeable on football poster ever on this forum.

18 Aug 2024 11:00:32
OP you are defending the indefensible and it's possibly making you look a tad irrational.

Farke couldn't get Leeds promoted with cheat code for Champo players.

So. how on earth is he then going to be good enough to get Lèeds promoted with far inferior players to last
season

Farke evidently is not that good a coach .

18 Aug 2024 12:04:57
I still believe the inexperience of several of younger talents let Farke down towards the end of the season.
I like young small squads but sadly for us to get over the line last season we lack one or two quality experienced players who lead by example. You won’t get that from Bamford and Cooper sadly.

For me Farke’s game plan is very good and although some don’t believe it, if we recruit a few players with that balance of experience and talent we will definitely achieve promotion.
To downgrade Farke’s achievements proves to me of little naivety on those people. I have no doubt in my head whatever card Farke is dealt with, he will still achieve promotion for us this season, one way or another.

18 Aug 2024 14:19:26
Can't see Farke lasting season OP, he's on a poor run now and yesterday showed his inability to effect change, which we all know now is there .

Dross of worst type yesterday was and surely our owners feel that also.
