Just watched the highlights. MJ looking very sharp once again. Was unlucky not to get a brace. Bogle once again assisted his goal (took a deflection on the cross tho, so maybe not given as an assist) . Rutter looked like he was in demon mode. Caused them a whole world of problems dribbling from deep. Looks focused. Assisted Piroe with a chipped cross from a short corner. Finally looking dangerous from corners now. Lovely to see.
Nice to see Piroe score, too. I'll be the first to say I'm not a fan of him as a player, but I am genuinely hoping he can prove a lot of us wrong this season if he stays, myself included. If we can get the best out of him with these change of tactics/ formation without hurting the likes of Rutter and Cry then I'm all for it, as he is a proven goal scorer at this level. MJ definitely needs to start though, no arguments there.

Summerville with a slight hamstring injury according to a Farke. James also with a minor knock. I noticed Shackleton has got a knee injury today in a friendly. He really is short on luck.

I don’t get the pirlo hate. His record at this level is unquestionably and he got decent numbers for us last season?

Not hate, just onservations of his linitations with how we set up last season. There was a lack of cohesion from him last season with how he fit into our tactics. That's the issue. His goal scoring has never been an issue, he knows where the net is. Was just poor as the lone striker as he doesn't play well with his back to goal. He struggles to hold up the ball to interlink and he's not a good presser. He's also poor in the build up phases because of his lack of mobility which is a considerable issue.

As always dull a very well thought out and articulated point.
I think last season was a bit kick, bollockx scramble in the sense that farke didn’t really have preseason and some players were late over the line to join us.
I think this year we will see a lot more out of leeds and prilo we seem more fluid have better outlet from full backs and have more tactical felxiblity.
I think last year farke worked wondered with the hand he was dealt this year I think will be amazing!

I'm hoping that tactical flexibility is the key to getting the best out of him, Berm. Like I said, if we can get the best out of him without disrupting our other creative talents, then I'm all for it. He will score goals, and I hope to see him get more involved in play when he's on the pitch rather than just goals or being a passenger, as was the theme of his season last term.

Yes it was a late start for some players but surely by 5 or 6 games in at the most all should have been up to speed pirlo is undoubtedly a scoring talent but Farke bought him and failed to get the most out of him, blame training and tactics not preseason.

Not sure Dill piroe was talked about for a while if I remember correctly before we actually bought him. Let's not forget he had a decent scoring record and a great many on here were pleased as punch we got him, how times change eh, and it's a sad indictment if a player is bought without the managers say so.

Managers aren't really "managers" anymore. Most are just head coaches and the transfers are dealt with by the DoFs. Rare few who still control everything these days.
