In the England squad there some very good individual players but as a team we are not trophy worthy.
Spain throughout that game and the entire competition looked a constant threat and we simply didn’t.

Offensively, we are more than capable, it was our defence that let us down last night. Just not good enough. Rice played better in the latter stages, but is simply not good enough as an all round player. Shaw not fit enough, and Guehi overrated. Media talk is Potter to come in. Also a big No. there isn’t an English manager good enough.

Imagine Bielsa as England manager.
With the players at his disposal and the football style he instills, I think we would be amazing to watch. The added benefit is there would be no burnout either as the games are infrequent.

Offensively we are good enough? Not on the evidence of this competition Brighty. Rarely looked like scoring from open play, Rice is a centre back playing in midfield imo. Takes too many touches and not progressive enough. No way he gets anywhere near the Spainish squad as a CM.

God I can't believe I am going to say this but Pickford was England mom for me saved at least another 3 goals we were woeful in every position shows how bad when I pick that toffee as our best player.

Yes Cork, no arguments on the basis of this tourney. Like Dougie says, and I have said previously, imagine what Marcelo could do with this attacking line up? The ability is there in the squad of players, it just hasn’t been effectively utilised. Tactics have been deployed to suit the manager, and tournament football (? ) , not the natural flair of the players in my view.

10?…. Shaw was about the only one of the starting 11 playing anything like and he was buggered after 60 minutes. I know SG gets all the wrap for being negative, but our midfield didn’t exist and when we do get towards the opposition danger area, we either can’t, or won’t cross 9 times out of 10. I don’t subscribe or support SG’s Philips comment, but even he is more positive than any who played last night. Even Henderson would have been a massive improvement.
I hope SG leaves for his own well-being; he doesn’t need the grief. I hope it’s the end for some of the team, namely Kane, Stones, Walker, Trippier…none are good enough.
