Mez to psg or marseille. Either or. Just get it done.
05 Jul 2024 04:01:52
Is this really likely?
05 Jul 2024 04:29:42
De Zerbi likes him, apparently. So guess it could be re; Marseille.
05 Jul 2024 08:19:14
If Meslier is not good enough for us in the lowly Championship, why would De Zerbi want him at Champions League Marseille? Or for that matter PSG?
05 Jul 2024 08:22:53
Marseilles already pushing themselves forward with Mez reps. Think a deal will be done very soon. How about getting Kasper Schmeical (? ) back? (Can’t be arsed trying to spell it right! )

Apparently bright when kasper was here the Elland Road faithful were not very complementary about his dad. Can't think why?
So I don't think a return would be a good fit.
I think mez would be make a great keeper abroad. Too easily roughed up by championship teams and not good enough on crosses.
05 Jul 2024 10:03:48
What goalkeepers available for 10 dill? Or anybody?
05 Jul 2024 10:14:42
Looks like Marseille will be going for Brice Samba ex- Forest keeper, he’ll be cheaper than the 20 Mil value of Meslier and with more experience.
I honestly don’t get the negativity towards Meslier, he is the most disliked player in our current team even above Firpo!
Keepers don’t normally come to their prime until they are 29/ 30 years old and at 24 I would say he’s ahead of where he should be.
Football is football Ben and for a keeper whether it’s Ligue 1 or the Championship here he’ll still have to deal with very similar situations, it makes no difference in my opinion.
#StandingaloneforMez.

There's definitely better keepers about than Mes, OP. He's plateaued. Change of scenery would probably help his progression, especially when there's someone who can actually challenge his default starting spot.
05 Jul 2024 10:40:13
Experience is the key word for Mez and that experience doesn’t come overnight, goalkeepers progression is not measured in the same way as outfield players, the road is much longer.
Patience is required.
05 Jul 2024 11:41:52
Reckon Sunderland would let Patterson go for that, Aus. He'd by my top choice. An academy lad as well so all profit for em.
05 Jul 2024 11:53:07
Dill. Gashlier hasn't " plateaued ' . he has seriously regressed.
05 Jul 2024 12:44:20
I won't argue with you on that tbh, Baz.
One thing I will say is, I feel less comfortable with him in net now than I did a few seasons ago.
05 Jul 2024 12:46:38
He's had 4 full seasons as a starter with us tbf, OP. 175 games is more than enough time to see progression.
05 Jul 2024 14:04:57
Indeed Dill 175 games. enough is enough
Meslier had a brief impressive spell beginning of 2020 / 21 season. but since then regression, regression, more regression
OP hasn't got a scooby doo on his illogical rating and fanciful claims of Meslier.
05 Jul 2024 15:11:56
Well I’m not trying to change your mind Dill, it’s all about opinions and mine is definitely on the side of Meslier.
Shot stopping is only half of a goalies job these days as you will appreciate which you can not argue Mez is very good at. However distribution is not so easy for the keeper as he he needs to have good feet and vision when playing the ball out with opposition attackers pressing the box. There are very few keepers that are good at it and it’s something Mez is in my opinion is improving with slowly.
Dealing with crosses are also a very precarious situation for a keeper even with his huge 6 ”6ins frame it’s not easy and for a lot of very good keepers it is a 50/ 50 chance he’ll make contact with the ball.
All I would say at the end of this is that Farke does admit he has some weaknesses that he is working very hard to improve on but does rate him very highly and I’ll be surprised if he wants him to leave.
For the money our club would be willing to spend on a new keeper I can assure you he will not be better than Mez, especially with the way Farke wants his team to play.
05 Jul 2024 17:15:03
Not true at all OP?
More accutate wpuld be :
" 1st shot on target . goal conceded notorious Meslier" .
. most content creators Kagey, Connor Mac etc concur and bang on about it Mes nearly always conceding from his first shot on target. he never makes that crucial first save
And OP making excuses for a giany 6 foot 6 goalie unable to collect crosses is laughable ☺.
05 Jul 2024 18:21:38
Patterson is already a better keeper imo and he's going to progress too.
I don't think the coaches have helped him. The goalkeeping staff we've had seemed to have stunted his growth more than anything. Not sure on the new set up since Farke came, but speaking specifically the seasons proceeding.
