It’ll be interesting to see how Farke will fit Bamford in the squad when it looks pretty solid already. His injuries have been a big problem in his time with us, guess he’ll be warming the bench for the rest of his long contract.

A truly interesting poll for our forum would be who will play more minutes this season? Bamford or Dallas?

O/ P. I suspect we won't be that lucky re injuries and form. I think Bamford might end up playing some part, especially over the long winter; this league is relentless [if he get's fit]. It's pretty amazing how we have ended up with the squad like we have. We have let 16 players go, 11 internationals and it could be argued we have a better squad as the outcome. Whilst we have to temper our optimism, we have to accept the Championship quality is a shadow of the EPL - just look at how the 3 that have gone up are struggling; Burnley romped this league last season. Notwithstanding that, I think this squad would make a better fist of it than the one last season; attitude alone would have made the last 10 games more fruitful.

There are about 6 players who went who would be good additions to our current squad
The biggest problem last season was the managers plus we also don't know how much Orta interfered with the squad and team . Think DF would have gotten a far better tune out of our squad last season.

For me Ani4ni it’ll be, presuming that we win promotion, how will Farke fare in the Premiership this time having failed with Norwich. I think it would be fair to say that he didn’t get an open chèque book more like a cookery book from Delia.
We can only hope when promotion comes that the 49er’s will not make the same mistake as our previous custodians.
I think Farke has something to prove in the Premiership, I hope that happens for him and that he is given the tools to deliver.
Sustainability in the Premiership is getting harder for promoted teams returning even for the ones that had parachute money.

I think that having more choices up front may well benefit Bamford. He can be eased back into full fitness.
Being our only 9 in last few years has in my opinion done him no good. He has been rushed into a sometimes desperate team while not being fully fit.
He now has an opportunity to get a few minutes here and there and build up his fitness slowly. But I agree he will be needed this winter and in the run in.

The Stuart Dallas type of 2020/ 21 8 goals 8 assists from midfield is something I crave for this squad.

Not sure if Farke needs a cheque book to succeed, if they can make additional shrewd signings I think this team have a much improved DNA compared to the team that was relegated.
Mid table mediocrity/ stability (take your preference) is certainly possible with a strong coach and the right system and most importantly culture.
Emery at Villa (clever coach) and Silva at Fulham (learnt the lessons from his first relegation) have built strong combative teams.
I believe Farke is very much capable of doing the same anything above this, to be consistently pushing top four requires open no limits cheque books.

Unless you are Brighton Class.
I thought Marcelo was going to be that great coach with all his wisdom and knowledge of the game who would keep us up there. Sadly mass injuries put pay to that so I’m feeling that the squad must be denser, I don’t mean literally doing a Forest but a handful of quality, as you put it, shrewd signings.
I think if we were in the Premiership right now I’d feel we were still too lightweight and possibly succumb to the same fate.
I believe Farke has all the minerals coaching wise to keep us up there once there. When Radrizziani failed to add to the squad after our fist season up, it was a catastrophic mistake which laid down our eventual fate. I don’t want that to happen again.

Great post OP.

As they say op 6 good uns are better than 12 bad uns.
Farke has got solid payers almost all with English football experience.
I saw a graphic I think on sky about Southampton going down and how many players they bought and for how much.
Hardly any of them had any experience of our leagues.

I do still like Bamford, even though he often missed quite a lot of chances (including the ones that could of kept us up) . However, he also scored some important and great goals (Villa hat trick and Leicester goal are just a few that spring to mind) . Like others have said, hopefully he can stay fit and with less expectation on him (with having other options) , he can get back to his best.
