Who do we think will be our captain in the coming season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Alf It will be LOL again.

Liam may often be derided on here, but he’s a proper club captain and a great ambassador for our club.

And just maybe it was a whopping great big coincidence but goals conceded and points gained magically coincided with Liams return to the side.

Appreciate there’s more talented players out there but few play with his level of commitment.

What George said. But just because Coops will (in all probability) be captain, it shouldn’t mean he has to play whenever fit.

It’ll be more interesting to see whether Bill remains as VC. It wouldn’t seem sensible, given he’s not exactly guaranteed to come on even as a sub when fit, so long as Kristensen is fully firing. With KP likely to be leaving, and Cafu out ‘til the new year, and Forshaw and Rodrigo possibly out of here or on the bench, that may just leave Bamford of the current leadership group to deputise for Coops, and I’m not sure even he would see himself in that role. Kristensen has been said to have strong leadership characteristics, so maybe if he settles in within the squad group quickly, he could be a candidate for VC. If not, Llorente might get the nod, due to seniority, which is slightly scary prospect. Of course, we may yet sign other players with strong captaincy credentials.

For all this, whoever actually wears the armband, we need far more players to show leadership qualities across the pitch, in all phases of play, than was the case last season.

I don’t like to knock Cooper to much, I just wish that he could be the type of player that could back up his leadership with quality. Leading by example.
In all fairness, I can’t see anyone else except Kal but it’s looking more and more likely that he won’t be with us much longer.

Problem is there are probably no obvious leaders in the squad to replace Cooper as Captain

It needs an inspirational leader new signing to replace him as Captain.

Class He has improved slightly but I did not enjoy him accidentally stopping Joffy goal ? bound effort against Seagulls toward end of season.

Cooper a total liability. The fact he was getting picked toward the end of the season only served to underline how poorly the possible replacements were doing. If we are to make a push for the top half of the table next season we need better than Coops.

Alf So when are you putting your hand ? in pocket to purchase Marquinhos and Militao? Go on there's a good lad. What a central pairing they'd make!

There is no coincidence that we shipped more goals when Coops was out. Yes he makes mistakes sometimes, as does every player, but he is a great leader and organiser on the park, and does not deserve some of the carp thrown at him. In my eyes, he will go down as a great Captain of our club, onfield, and off field.

Just as soon as I get controlling shares in the club George. How about you?

Alf I'm saving up to help for Dusan Vlahovic. I might be awhile.
