Been watching Lois Openda (CF) vids and he looks quite the player, even considering the level of opposition in the Eredivisie.

Scored 23 in 49 games and assisted 5 for Vitesse (inc 3 goals and 2 assists in the UEFA Conference League. ) Currently in the Belgium squad for the Nations League.

He's pacey, runs lines well and makes defenders turn. Has great reactionary skills, positional sense and most importantly, he can finish. Looks very solid in one on ones.

He's clearly capable of playering at a much higher standard and could be a real bargain given his £6.75m valuation on Transfermarkt.

Currently at Vitesse on loan from Club Brugge. If the price is right he would be a very good purchase, and I truly believe he has the potential to really flourish with us.

Most dutch players notoriously poor in EPL.

Assuming you mean players from the Eredivisie. Players like Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooy, Wijnaldum, Robben, Overmars, Van Dijk, Van Persie, Stam, De Jong, Hasselbaink, Alderweirald, Vertonghen.

For £10m he's worth a punt. He can definitely succeed at a higher level after what I've seen from him.

Sorry for being a bit flippant lol. Fwiw, I understand, the Eredivisie is not a great measuring stick to see if a player is truly ready for Premier League football, but we have seen many come over and succeed. For me it's not about the league they've been playing in, it's about their individual attributes and looking at what they are and whether they can translate to our team and league. Openda looks like he has the quality to play far higher than he currently is and I think his skills would translate very well. I can't rule a player out, especially a young player with potential such as Openda, because the league they've been playing in isn't great. He has quality.

CC You mean like Dennis Bergkamp, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam, Robin Van Persie, Marc Overmars and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink?

15 Jun 2022 07:45:53
No George I mean like Kluivert, Altidore, Depay, Altidore, Janseen, Lad who went to Brighton, De jong

Now George, how's that list?

15 Jun 2022 10:03:00
Btw I do notice Altidore ain't Dutch or was in there twice.

15 Jun 2022 11:11:57
CC Apart from Altidore being born in the heart of heady meddy Netherlands, sorry make that New Jersey, United States rendering your list of only 4 players to my 6, I'd say your list is wonderfully insipid.

Chris - with Altidore I guess we’re into the debate alluded to by Dillinger, as to whether you actually mean Dutch players or players of any nationality that have been signed on the back of apparently decent form for a Dutch team - given (to be fair to you) Altidore was signed from Eredivisie team AZ Alkmaar.

If you’re referring solely to Dutch players who’ve come to the Prem, there’s been well over 100, so there’s bound to have been some duffers in amongst them, and likewise a few truly exceptional ones. The same probably goes for any nationality that has been well represented in the Prem over the years, such as France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Denmark. I guess the same goes for different leagues to some extent - thought there is the perception (possibly correct) that some, particularly the German Bundesliga, are a better grounding for playing in the Prem than others.

Substitute Dozy for Donny, George, yes I made a mistake as he played in Erdivise not an actual Dutch man

But Donny will do fine ?.

CC VdB did wonderfully well ?.
