Seems like Kristensen going to 2nd incoming, glad they getting onto it as season will come round fast.
Haven't seen him but seems to be rated, I still unsure why we going for a RB, for me it's not the priority as have Ayling, Drameh, Dallas and shacks. More importantly is a quality LB and imo a CB ( move on Llorente and Firpo) .

There’s several first team players like Ayling, Cooper, Klich that need to be upgraded, amongst others if we want to look forward. Great servants to our club but in my estimation, it is the time for change.

If Kristensen is confirmed, he will (as OP said below) be a definite upgrade on Bill, whose performances seem likely to continue tailing off following further surgery and another lengthy lay-off. Dallas seems unlikely to be back this side of Christmas, and we following such a significant injury it would be a huge risk for both player and Club to see him as a significant option at RB - and to be fair, his best performances for us in the Prem have been when playing at CM. Kristensen would also provide the bonus of already having a good on-pitch understanding with Aaronson.

Drameh has certainly impressed on loan, but while he may feel he’s now ready to become first choice at RB, we really can’t risk planning to start the next season with such an inexperienced player as effectively our first choice in that position. Yes, he could tear it up in pre-season, but if not Orta would have little time to sign a new player and all the best options are very likely to have gone by then, either they’ll have been signed by another club or their current club will be loathed to let them go and have little time to find a replacement, and would probably demand a premium price to make it worth their while. The lad clearly wants first team football, so I’d let him go on loan again, with a recall clause for if he’s shown enough by January and is needed here, or isn’t getting enough playing time.

Shack doesn’t see himself as a RB, and needs to be given a chance to develop more fully in his natural position in midfield. He is unlikely to get that here next season, so I’d send him on loan, again with a recall clause, in case he’s not getting sufficient opportunity to progress his game.

I did state last week we need overhaul and got tanked for it. i think Llorente, Koch, Cooper, Firpo, klich, Roberts, Rodrigo not good enough but disagree about Ayling.

What Clue said

We all know there's a huge gulf between champ + Prem, Cody's probs thinking he's Maldini currently but the enormity of next season will bring him back down to earth soon enough .

Flying up the wing against blades is a world away from where he will find himself come August .

So it was good forward thinking to get the Dane in now.

Isn't Kristensen versatile as well and can play in a number of positions?

03 Jun 2022 14:50:49
Agree on Drameh. According to a mate Cardiff City fan. He was great going forward but a bit suspect defending. As said earlier ok in Championship but would be a problem in Prem.

Ayling out until the autumn and Dallas out until the new year.

Charlie Cresswell starts in England U23 team today, he must be a starter in Leeds defence this season or we will lose him

Sell Llorente.

03 Jun 2022 18:34:14
Cresswell needs a good loan at a top Championship club, the he comes back as a first choice CB imo.

03 Jun 2022 21:00:41
Nah Brighty no to a loan
Cresswell should be first choice LUFC CB with Koch

Sell Llorente
either sell / bench Cooper
Struick on the bench too.

Baz - there seems to be a preference to have a natural left footer at left CB, and both Koch and Cresswell are right footed, so that partnership is possibly unlikely to be first choice combination.

Apparently Marsch still rates Llorente, though I guess most supporters would prefer to see him sold, with Koch becoming the experienced choice on the right side and Cresswell rotating with him. In reality, while Marsch has a preference for squad rotation, he has apparently tended to do so less for the back line. With Cresswell clearly (and understandably) wanting more first team football, it may be agreed that he takes a top Championship loan next season (with a recall clause hopefully) with Llorente and Koch both retained to cover right CB, and Bill as additional cover when recovered from surgery. Coops would seem likely to be retained, as while he clearly has an error in him still, and isn’t getting any faster, he brought some measure of calm and organisation to the defence when he returned. Hopefully we have a decent preseason and new additions to the team/ squad can improve our solidity in front of the defence, as well as at RB, helping Struijk to rediscover his old assuredness, to help enable the transition away from Coops. If Kristensen does come in, apparently he has strong leadership qualities, so that should also help.

Fair Assessment Clu, and yes a right and left footer preferable,

BUT still even more preferable that the BEST centre backs are chosen first and foremost over inferior alternatives

For me Koch and Cresswell are our best and strongest defenders, best centrebacks and should definit6ekt be chosen ahead of Struick who has regressed and slow coach Cooper who commits far too many mistakes and wimpish Llorente whi is most definitely no longer suited to the physicality ( if he ever was) of the EPL.

Baz - I get the feeling that Struijk’s apparent regression was in part due to the mental effects of playing alongside the increasingly skittish Llorente and Firpo who’s still adjusting to the Prem and was massively challenged positionally by Bielsaball - and with a porous midfield. Even the likes of Van Dijk would have ended up frazzled by that combination, not knowing for sure where best to turn to put out the next defensive fire. Bearing in mind that Struijk is still only 22 and was in just his second full season in the first team. I do also wonder whether the affects of his over enthusiastic hug for Joffy after Norwich - which seemingly put the young lad’s back out for a while and therefore limited his game time when we most needed him to help keep us in the Prem - was also playing on Struijk’s mind, like ‘have I just killed us’, and affecting his concentration/ judgment.

With a decent break to get over the mental strains of the last few months, a full preseason to get used to zonal marking and the new tactics more generally, and with Koch as his CB partner I feel Struijk would be back to more assured self.

Incidentally, I believe Meslier’s apparent dip in form this season was less the effect of not having anyone to effectively challenge him for the shirt, but more the defensive deficiencies in front of him - becoming punch drunk and demoralised by the team’s repeated significant beatings. In a way, similar to Struijk - and again only a young player (particularly for a Prem goalkeeper) . Again, with a good break, and a defensive reset through preseason and any new players, I would expect Meslier to return to form - but it would probably be best to have an experienced back-up - as a mentor as much as for competition, and hopefully to help with his positioning for direct free kicks, as whatever Abad is saying to him ain’t working too well.
