Not a problem for me if he stays to run it down.

Aus - Most Leeds fans won’t see it as a problem if Raphinha were to stay with us next season so as to wait for a move to Barca. He would want to keep his performance levels high to maintain his place in Tite’s Brazil squad, to ensure Barcelona remain interested in him, because he respects our fans and because he has high professional standards and hates losing. It may be that the Club has been planning their recruitment this summer with the expectation that he or KP were likely to leave - with funds being generated for incoming transfers - as per the supposed Leicester model. However, they are likely to have contingencies for that not happening - perhaps a little more creative, with use of the loan market etc. Talk of Leicester model may have been to prepare fans for the possibility of exits for their favourite players, as much as for the actuality.

If he stays, he would have only one year left on his contract next summer, but a good performance in Qatar and in the Prem may help maintain his transfer value. Meantime, with Raphinha still in the team, and upgrades elsewhere in the squad, who knows where we could end up in the table.

Obviously all speculation and conjecture, but just saying Raphinha staying could have upsides, rather than being a problem. Even if he were to stay until the end of his contract, having 2 more seasons with Raphinha in our team could perhaps be worth more than the £60m+ which could potentially be raised by selling him.

As clueless says, 2 seasons in the premiership is worth more than the £60mil we would get for him at this point.

If Raph is a good chap he’ll sign a new 5 year deal and then if he really wants to leave in a season or two then all’s good. I’d love him to stay for the journey though.

Totally Clue!

It depends if he continues to give his all if he doesn't get a move. Fair play 5o him he clearly gave everything to help us stay up this year when he could have just downed tools and got a cheap move away but if that was because he believed or was told the club wouldn't stand in his way and then that doesn't happen he may not be able to play at his best. If he is happy to stay then it would be great to keep him and invest in a better team around him. Of course, £60m in Orta's hands could easily be worth £0 if he wastes it on a few shockers so would be much better for a proven player to stay than risking bringing in players that aren't up to it.
