Tierney was never going to overturn the first one, as Moss had thought it so obviously not a foul that he booked Toffolo for simulation, so VAR deeming there to be enough evidence of contact would have been very embarrassing for Moss - and the football authorities couldn’t have that happen, particularly having given the match to Moss as a retirement swan song. Supposedly Moss’ view was blocked for the second one, but rather than asking for VAR to look he just waved play on and, according to the commentary, Tierney didn’t review the incident.

Can’t help wondering whether Corberan didn’t help their cause by admitting he had consulted with Bielsa before this match, and indeed on previous occasions. The officials and wider footballing authorities would have been alarmed at the potential prospect of having the ‘malign’ influence of Bielsa on a Prem manager after they’d gone to such extraordinary efforts to ensure the man himself was removed from the English game.

Wrong is wrong clue, shouldn't matter who makes the mistake (it happens, game is fast and players do dive or have an obstructed view) or whether it's the first or last ever game, VAR was allegedly introduced to make the game fairer and eliminate these errors.
Examples like today make me more and more convinced that money swaps hands, I simply can't see any other explanation for the repeated blatant wrong decisions.

Not sure what your point of contention is here Canada - not saying there is any excuse for the officials’ errors - quite the opposite.

Both Moss AND Tierney were wrong, was what I was saying - and also implying that the implementation of the VAR system is wrong (as many have said before) - referees shouldn’t be in the position of checking/ marking each other’s work, too often they appear to be covering each other’s backs rather that ensuring mistakes are rectified.
And yes, it would be easy to believe that money (and also favouritism) is in some way behind the appalling decisions which continue to blight the beautiful game.

I hope the technology is made very soon to make VAR randomize kit colours and blur faces etc. Even to mirror image to randomly change attacking direction etc.
That was the VAR official has no idea which team they're awarding a decision to.

VAR is a shambles, and needs to be reviewed itself, by itself. An utter joke.
