Unfortunately Bright many a player over the years who looked to have potential have been moved on. Mostly correct decisions but a few have come back to make us look silly. Irwin, Sellars and even Sheridan back in day all got moved on for a pittance.
Actually that’s a great question. Name some players we’ve let go at a young age who’ve gone on to be top talent.

Sheridan left for £650,000 a decent fee in 1989 certainly not a ' pittance ;
around the same time Wilko bought the great inspirational Gordon Strachan ( a far better player than Sheridan) for a bargain £250,000 to guide Leeds to 3 trophies.

James Tavernier was on our books, and hasn’t done too badly for himself - yes it’s in Scotland, but he’s also shone for Gers in Europe. Would have him at RB ahead of Bill - much though I love Bill for his heroics in the Championship, and his goal celebrations.
