Leeds United used to have a culture of taking the cups seriously
great cup runs in both FA Cup and League Cup in the 1960s and 1970s
winners, finalists, semi finalists but since then? Scratching my
head to remember good years :
1987 FA cup semi when we took the lead and could have been 3 nil up in first 20 mins against eventual winners Coventry
1991 League cup semi finalists against penchester
1996 League cup finalists against Vile ; more than capable of beating the Vile in that season but a few key injuries and Wilko got the team selection and tactics all wrong on the day
and that's it from memory.

Even our U23s don’t need an FA Cup run at the moment, as they could do with concentrating on the league, as we really don’t want them to be relegated either, and their squad has been significantly weakened on many occasions so far this season due to call-ups to first team duties, as well as ‘surprisingly’ not getting the rub of the green with inconsistent officiating - I guess the latter helps ensure they are truly prepared for what they’ll face at the senior level with Leeds.
