Morning all
Even thou i agree with many a striker is needed unfortunately i don't see one arriving.
Firstly unfortunately MB believes that Rodrigo, Roberts and James can be the back up strike, like many i disagree.
Secondly i don't see any choices out there, yes great shout for Nkeitah, but if Arsenal were to sell surely Newcastle would outbid teams and offer more wages, as i believe they also need firepower, I've looked at the championship strikers and nobody, really jumps out to me.
Origi?, high wages, think Liverpool will need him once Salah and Mane go on African Cup duty, and i think i'm right in saying Newcastle have enquired alreafy and been knocked back.
And as Many elude to on here if we did buy a striker it would simply push Gelhardt and Greenwood down the pecking order.
We just need to hope and pray Bielsa starts to use them more.
Or maybe Victor has an unknown talent in Europe he is scouting, who knows

Think the mantra that our club, along with every other PL club normally roll out in January, is its slim pickings and prices are too high……but……if there’s someone better than what we have already and they’re available, then we are interested”

For me, Swift at Reading is better than any of our current central midfielders, other than KP.

And Bereton Diaz at Blackburn, I believe could be our second best striker, after Bam Bam, and is definitely ahead of Roberts strike rate wise.

Both clubs have financial challenges just now and we’ve certainly been the selling club enough times, I think it would be good business, for not silly money with both players still relatively young.

Honestly don’t believe we have the funds for anything above championship buys just now.

The midfielder has always been needed however, with poor Klich a shadow of himself just now.

Hardly surprising given his work rate and commitment over the last two seasons, only Dallas has probably worked harder in terms of physical effort.

But we really need better in midfield if we are to repeat our levels of last season.

The goalscoring issue is POTENTIALLY far bigger and far more serious than solely signing one other striker,

the serious issue is that Leeds need FAR MORE goalscoring players throughout their team in midfield and defence

the Revie, Wilkinson and Oleary teams are superior to the Bielsa team in ths aspect plentiful amount of goals were scored by all the midfield players and by all/ most of the defence at corners and at set plays and in open play.

Big Jack, Cooper, Giles, Bremner, etc
Fairclough, Sterland, Strachan, McAllister etc

whereas much as we love them KP ( rarely scores for Leeds in past 3 seasons) and Forshaw ( never scored for Leeds) are not contributing to the goals tally. Neither much has Rodrigo and so far at least Dan James. And then there is course Tyler Roberts.

Ayling used to score a few, we should be looking for more goals from corners Struick, llorente, Cooper, Koch ( when he is finally fit)

and we need a Pablo type.

I was thinking the same thing Rich. What does it do to Gelhardt and Greenwood if we buy Mateo Joseph?

Really good post about goal scorers that BazVid, last couple of seasons we have had the legend that is Pablo and don’t forget Alioski’s goals which have not been replaced! Then Klich, Harrison they have been miss firing this season and then like you said Ayling, his contribution has been greatly missed. Then of course no Bamford and none of our replacement strikers have emulated his scoring, so all in all we are where we are because apart from Raphinia no one is excelling in there respective rolls. Good points raised there BazVid. 👍 MOT.

I’d be asking why we need another 18yr old striker who hasn’t even made his first team debut at his current club?

For me there’s little value in the championship, I don’t really see anyone in there coming in and taking us to the next level and realists that’s what any new signings have to be capable of doing. Look at Mitrovic for example he smashes the championship yet is pony in the prem.

We definitely need a decent quality attacking/ creative midfielder or number 10.

I’d prob look at loaning Joffy to the championship in January to get him regular game time, possibly same with Greenwood.

I personally think we might sign 3 in January as I do believe Marcelo goes in the summer and we need a bigger squad for his replacement.

Also we will probably have to replace both Rapha and Kalvin in the same window which is gunna be difficult but it is doable. Not too sure if Orta is the man to do it though.

Cheers Woody
that situation needs remedying/ resolving asap.

I’d agree with Class on Brereton Diaz, given he’s also proved he can deliver on the international stage. I’d be minded to offer them Tyro plus cash - plus Greenwood or Joffy on loan if that would make the deal more acceptable to Blackburn (and if the Poveda loan is ended due to his injury, offer McKinstry on loan too) .

03 Dec 2021 18:21:43
I think we’ve been misfiring due to a lack of confidence and the disruption caused by all the injuries. With any luck most of the injured who are just or coming back will start gaining some much needed confidence and momentum and the goals will be forthcoming.
I honestly can’t see us buying anyone in January, it’s a notoriously bad window to buy in. I think the January transfer window should be scrapped, Even Rangnick has just quoted that Man U will not be buying in January.
Although loans with a prospect to buy could be a possibility.

As for not much value in the championship, it’s where the majority of our side came from including, Bamford, and others Ollie Watkins, Benrhmia, Ezee, Olisse etc etc

Sure many don’t make the step up but lot of that is coaching Bam Bams stock quadrupled and where would we have been without his goals last year.

Nothing to back this up but I’m fairly sure Championship converts are as successful as untried foreign players imported in across the globe?

And I still believe Swift would make us better and Diaz would score more than Tyler, well just score for a start.

It's been a recurring problem now for a good while

The lack of goals from midfielders / wingers, obvs it would be great to hit the jackpot and sign players who make an immediate impact but for the limited lolly we have that is a big call for any potential signings

The likes of Bowen pre West ham probably be our limits now in January, but I really feel we need to increase squad size as the constant juggling of positions has to be grating on the lads, it would be great not to have such glaring holes in the squad

Desperately. need creativity +goals.
